Yet another cringeworthy example of differential sentencing. I guess if you feel enough “disconnection” from your roots, you just can’t help but chase after 15 year olds.
A British Columbia judge has knocked a year off the prison sentence for a Métis-Cree woman who sexually assaulted a teen less than half her age after sending the boy “sexualized photographs” of herself “in states of undress, as well as pictures of her breasts and vagina.”
While she has an interest in learning more about her Métis background, this journey has been complicated and she feels disconnected from her cultural roots,” Wolf said in his Jan. 28 decision. “This is not surprising as Colonialism, by its very nature, has created barriers for Indigenous people to maintain their relationship to their culture, community and language.”

What bizarre reasoning. If someone’s indigenous we give them a lighter sentence, but if they’re not indigenous enough we…also give them a lighter sentence?
Indigents culture, learning to hug yer $130,000.oo white built pichup truck!
Metis is a person of French-Cree descent. So how can you be “Metis-Cree”?
I thought the Metis were Scottish-Cree. The only Metis in my school was named McNab.
But these days anyone with any kind of white-native heritage can call themselves Metis.
Soooo… if one is Metis they have the blood of (apparently) a dreaded white, colonialist, imperialist, misogynistic French male. Can the learned judge please remind us how a Metis can 1) be the product of dreaded “colonialism” while at the same time be b) disconnected from her “Metis culture” because of this same “colonialism”?
I don’t imagine that the kid feels very ‘assaulted’, either. More like “Woo HOO!!!”
But that double standard would conflict with the other double standard, so we end up with this whole mess.
I strongly suggest you talk to some men who were sexually assaulted as children by adult women before you trivialize this like that.
ah. there’s my cue. my own mutherrr in the bathroom, lm 12, pubic hair erections in the middle of something the whole bit. shes in the bathroom WITH ME screaming to get in the tub then when l piss cause l cant hold it, screaming some more.

“A life that’s not examined isn’t worth living ……”
It doesn’t matter what color or creed you are, some people get away with not examining themselves or their conduct, and blame others.
The enabling has consequence, and it ends up being huge.
Sexual assault is a traditional value?
Perhaps the judge should apply a traditional Aztec punishment?
Well … yes. Yes it is.
One culture’s sexual assault … is another cultures absence of things like “age of consent” laws. What’s the age of consent among “her people” who had average life spans in the early 30’s? At what age did “her culture” begin sexual relations? 7? 8? Whenever the sex organs become operable? It must have gotten quite cold in those communal lodge houses and teepees on the plains. Gotta snuggle up under the Buffalo blankets, eh? As Michael Jackson said … it’s natural, it’s beautiful.
How dare we impose our repressive Christo-colonial morals on “their culture”
Welcome to the land of moral relativism. All the justification needed for two-tier justice.
” At what age did “her culture” begin sexual relations? 7? 8? Whenever the sex organs become operable? ”
Biologically speaking, the first menstruation is when human females are *designed* to start breeding. But unlike all other mammals, we have ‘cultural norms’ that are applied to prevent it (in civilized nations, anyway). We also aren’t designed to live as long as we do.
“Welcome to the land of moral relativism. All the justification needed for two-tier justice.”
So true.
And from what I’ve read … girls today are beginning menstruation sooner than ever due to our abundant, high fat, diets. OTOH … some girls who are unusually physically active and have tiny amounts fat (gymnasts for example) have delayed menses or sometimes even go into suspended menses as older girls/women.
I suspect the starvin native girls may have experienced later menses … unless of course nature altered course in order to breed at replacement numbers + … due to rampant childhood death?
In what masquerades as justice, I would wager that on the top of every defense lawyer’s advice offering is to play the Indigenous race card no mater how diluted and perhaps even if non-existent. When you take the blindfolds off of Lady Justice (a guaranteed outcome of “group rights” in the constitution), you have today’s Canadian apartheid inversion by a state that no longer represents taxpayers and property owners with white males as the new ni…rs with those white males wearing robes in Stockholm syndrome and or terminal suicidal empathy.
The world was a better place when there were Hanging Judges.
I bet it would be again if most judges were hanging.
I’ll bet that judge has copies of those photos in his desk drawer.
Nobody ever sent me nuffin.
Today’s Indians & Metis claim lands they never governed.
In 1841 & 1842, George Simpson, head of the Hudson’s Bay Company, travelled throughout the Hudson’s Bay lands in response to growing political issues between Great Britain and the United States of America. Both countries shared ownership of the Pacific North West. There was no international border in place and American pioneers were headed to the Oregon Territories. Realistic claims were being made for lands that became British Columbia.
While this was going on, things were heating up between Mexico and Texas. Great Britain was “somewhat” supportive of Mexico. Geopolitical issues were coming to a head in North America.
Getting back to George Simpson and his travels. George wrote a book about it, called Narrative of a Journey Round the World. It was published in 1847. In that book (page 102) George presented a table of the known Indian population of what was referred to as the “Saskatchewan District”. It is understood this reference means the lands served by the North and South Saskatchewan river system.
The table he presented lists the various Indian populations as:
Crees 3,500 souls
Assiniboines 4,060 souls
Blackfeet 2,100 souls
Piegans 2,450 souls
Blood Indians 1,750 souls
Sarcees 350 souls
Gros Ventres 2,100 souls
Saulteaux 140 souls
Half-breeds 280 souls
The Saskatchewan District was referred to as a territory at least as large as England.

Cree Indians are Great Plains Indians.
They do not belong in British Columbia.
Who is the Colonist now?
They’re Canadian Shield natives. They’re interlopers on the plains, they arrived along with the Hudson Bay Company. They are conquistadors in BC.
“Wolf, who also identifies as Indigenous, is a member of the Kwikwasut’inuxw Haxwa’mis First Nation on Gilford Island, B.C.”
Tribalist gives discount to tribal, surprising no one.
