If Carney’s polling numbers hold up, a spring election is a distinct possibility, and a Liberal majority would be the likely outcome. The reason is simple enough: once again, NDP and Bloc voters are stampeding to the Liberals. Inevitably, some will suggest that the Tories reinvent themselves to appeal to the left, but a string of electoral defeats with Red Tories at the helm points to the futility of that gambit. If that’s the best conservatives could do, why have a conservative party at all?
From coast to coast, Léger finds Mark Carney’s Liberals at 47% support among decided voters, up four points since Léger’s previous poll back in December. And this newfound support for the Liberals does not come at the expense of the Conservatives, who sit at 38%, themselves up two points.

“The Polls”.
What percentage of “eligible voters” don’t?
And how many of those who vote, don’t know that they do?
We are told that we must trust Elections Canada, when every other government Agency/Institution demonstrates their incompetence and corruption daily..
And the amazing recount results of our last federal election still hang over Elections Canada..
The Trucker Protest showed us that Canadians will support a genuine political opposition to government abuse and overreach…A lesson wasted on our federal conservatives.
The Uni-Party will squabble over the right to loot the commons..
Until there is no commons to loot.
Albertans know this.
Western Canada does not matter.
Mob rule is Canada, where the lazy, greedy and envious have been able to vote themselves other peoples money for near 7 decades.
Politicians want power,so they promise the mob what it wants..65% of those who vote, vote to reward theft , destruction and comforting lies.
And there was a time, when an overtaxed western citizen could comfort themselves with that myth of the common good,of the greater nation we were building..but no amount of copium can hide what Canada has become.
If we cannot separate our affairs from the Parasitic Overload..
We go down with them..
Retribution becomes a most attractive past time, while starving admidst plenty.
It will require some very different kind of poles to cure what ails Can Ahh Duh.
“Somebody should do something about it” as apposed to “Leave me alone..thief”.
`
If you support independence for Alberta and Saskatchewan then a majority Liberal government voted in by central and eastern Canada senior citizens is ideal. In fact, I kinda suspect the Liberal Party’s fear campaign will not just be about Trump but they will be running against Trump and Alberta. The USA and Alberta are, after all, the two things central and eastern Canada hate the most. These voters are o.k. with the Canadian economy failing as long as the prairie energy economy isn’t allowed to succeed.
A crime wave, mass immigration issues, affordability crisis, youth unemployment, government corruption, misspending, mismanagement and fraud, economic deterioration…none of that matters to voters on the left. It’s all about regional resentment and ego driven national pride fomented by the Liberal Party. Pride comes before the fall, I suppose.
Expect them to really turn up the heat (and dirty tricks) on your independence movement(s) — you are hated but necessary. They’ll likely crush you before they let you go.
Watch the trip of your PM Carney to India in March.
I expect the federal government and their operatives to use the same dirty tricks the used on the Reform Party and the freedom convoy : “Offensive” flags, dishonest media coverage, insults like racist/sexist/xenophobic, accusations of crimes being committed, slandering organizers, calling them traitors working with America. Possibly even freezing bank accounts and bringing out Stompy the horse.
Likely, but I think you may experience more of the Minneapolis effect…many Canadian Antifa are running back home after the Signal incident.
They could be put to good use by people not wanting your separation.
You are in for some interesting times. Be prepared.
Possibly in Redmonton you might see antifa type tactics but the Alberta government is conservative, unlike Minnesota. When some Alberta students tried to mimic Ontario universities and to take over a universitiy campus awhile back the police cleared them out immediately. Calgary and Edmonton might see the usual ethnic and religious groups protesting but that would likely increase support for independence.
Politically and culturally, Alberta and Saskatchewan are more similar to Montana or North Dakota than Minnesota or Ontario.
Antifa doesn’t just go out in the streets to cause their mayhem — in many ways those are just the distractions.
People tend to focus just on what they see in the news; with such an organization that can be a very bad mistake.
In 1984 the Conservatives won 75% of west of Ontario seats and the same 75% of the overall seats, so what’s your point, that the election is “decided” before Western Canadian votes are counted? Non sequitur much?
I’m saying a majority win for the Liberals helps the Alberta and Saskatchewan independence movement. Since I have been an independence supporter since the 90’s, a liberal majority voted in by central and eastern Canada is not necessarily terrible for Alberta and Saskatchewan. It probably makes the choice about staying or going much clearer for the undecided.
The Bloc and NDP are just liberals in a hurry and will always ensure no majority for a conservative government. Mulroney got the biggest majority in history and didn’t need any western seats to achieve this.
Mulroney was elected to fix the wreck of Trudeau, but he turned around and carved all of Trudeau’s disasters into stone.
Alberta/western independence IS the only viable option for the west.
Those voices opposed to western independence like Kenny, Manning and others is understandable as the colonial status of western Canada has worked well for them.
There’s no opposition quite like controlled opposition..
The problem is that since 1776 the Canada’s decision to remain a colony survives to this day.
Anything that deconstructs the “not America “ meme is deemed not sea by the establishment.
That includes the reality that Canada isn’t part of Europe but of North America.
The establishment wants the colony to remain intact so it can be relied on just as Rome did so it could survive as long as its provinces continued to pay tribute.
This is why I no longer donate to the CPC or Rebel News. The Canadian electorate is far too stupid and childish to understand the situation, and the need to be coddled for Canadians is too high. I’m welcoming the invasion or Alberta’s separation, but the former is more likely than the latter.
No need to invade. Just buy Can Ah Duh from the indians. After all they own the whole country don’t they?
I often write that “it’s only gonna get worse”, but what do I know?
Trump’s antics have saved the Liberal Party of Canada.
Canada was headed to a Poilievre government — perhaps even majority — in the spring. But then Liberation Day happened, and who better to rescue Canada from an economic abyss than the former governor of both the Bank of Canada and Bank of England?
And Carney has responded well to the crisis. He had a plan (diversify Canada’s economy as much as possible away from the US) and he is executing it well. He also showed himself willing to stand up to a bully, which plays well for most Canadians and even the world at large. This success has probably now ensured that Carney will get his majority.
The problem is that it distracts from other serious problems with Liberal governance, especially grossly misguided environmental policies that have crippled the Canadian economy , and which Carney mostly still bows down to. And Liberal corruption scandals are now deeply buried.
It’s not Trump antics, but Canadian stupidity. Carney has done nothing in regard to a crisis that the Liberals themselves created. Aligning Canada with the China Communist Party and a shrinking economic Europe is about as stupid as it gets.
Trump’s behavior is driving almost everything now. He represents an existential crisis for Canada, and almost nothing is unaffected.
In regards to China, the deal that Carney made was modest and reasonable. What IS concerning is his talk of a future “strategic partnership” with China. What the hell does that mean? If the Conservatives are smart, they’ll demand an answer.
“Trump’s behavior is driving almost everything now.”
Some cultures used to sacrifice virgins to the volcano god, who was omnipotent and uncaring.
It made them feel better, I guess.
IMO, strong responses to Trump are completely reasonable.
No matter how insane they are!
He really doesn’t. Had Canada come to the negotiating table in good faith, like the other countries, recognized the truth about their (lack of leverage), and struck a trade deal with the US we’d be paying 10% tariffs and have easy access to the US market.
But Carney knew he could use the old Liberal we’re-just-so-much-better-than-the-US card to get the laptop class, the wine moms, the marmots without chests to vote for him. People who have been sniffing their maple-syrup scented farts for decades and think wallowing in their pathetic national inferiority complex is a foreign policy.
The existential threat to Canada is voters like you who go along with this because those farts smell so, so good.
Trump has announced his intention to annex Canada on numerous occassions, and his tariff policies appear to be his main weapon to induce that.
And no, Trump was not trolling, any more than he was trolling about annexing Greenland or Panama. This is a man obsessed with his legacy. That’s why he’s preoccupied over his lack of a Nobel Prize. He wants to be known as the president who greatly expanded the American Empire (TM), a modern-day Catherine The Great.
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/VT9kzQhVY1w
And failing annexation, he appears to want to make Canada a vassal state; thus his apparent belief that he gets a veto on Canadian trade deals. The Donroe Doctrine doesn’t just mean keeping European or Asian influences out of the Americas. It apparently it means that the US runs the Americas.
“Had Canada come to the negotiating table in good faith, like the other countries, recognized the truth about their (lack of leverage), and struck a trade deal with the US we’d be paying 10% tariffs and have easy access to the US market.”
That’s it, in a nutshell. Perfectly stated.
But in order for that to work, Canada needed to have an Opposition leader with a spine…one willing to stand up to the Liberals, the MSM and the voting public, and tell them the truth. The REAL truth.
Instead, we have Pierre Poilievre.
Are you sure?
Pollievre didn’t start losing support (and taking down his own party) until after he decided to go “Carney Lite”.
We’ll see if your Carney has responded well, but I grant you that he will likely get his government.
Like I said: watch the trips to India, especially in light of the EU-India deal just inked (might be good to look into that one, it’s likely the blueprint for what your PM will do).
USMCA on deck…
Poilievre may moved have towards Carney (I don’t recall that, but I’ll take your word for it), but Carney also moved towards Poilievre, hamstringing his campaign. The biggest example is the cancelation of the consumer carbon tax. What went unstated is that the industrial carbon tax remained, which is hugely destructive. It’s like erasing the 10% of the iceberg that’s above water while keeping the 90% that’s below.
But in Poilievre’s defense, the Conservative Party is not going to be successful catering solely to the right wing. They must cater to the centre of the spectrum as well, which decides every election. Views that go over just swell at SDA do not necessarily work with most Canadians.
Catering to a center that’s moved so far to the left that in the last 10+ years it’s become unrecognizable as anything approaching normal?
Yeah no.
I don’t see the Conservative Party tacking sharply to port at all. Canadian conservatives have always been different than American conservatives, especially on social issues. I do see a rise of a populist far right — mostly MAGA supporters — that I didn’t notice much before.
At any rate, not catering to the centre of the spectrum at least somewhat dooms a party to permanent obscurity.
Don’t worry KM, those MAGA populists, as you call them, are considered extremists by the Forever Liberal government.
With their upcoming Bills To Rule All eventually getting passed, the populists will be systematically surveilled, de-citizenized, dis-employed and jailed.
https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/world/report-warns-federal-gun-buyback-gives-ammunition-to-extremists/ar-AA1VakNc
There is no center.
There is a schism, a divide that grows each week.
Get in a time machine and go back thirty years and put a tampon dispenser in a men’s washroom.
I don’t see the Conservative Party tacking sharply to port at all.
FFS, open your eyes. When the Lieberals can steal planks from the so-called “conservative” platform & call them their own, just how far left has the right gone?
You note further up that the Conservatives need to stop catering just to the right. The bastards haven’t given the right a nod in decades. It’s all center, all the time.
Dumb Biker:’
Are you telling me that Poilievre’s axe-the-tax promise was left wing?
Pollievre moved towards the center by echoing the “Elbows Up” chant, trying to prove he’d be tough on Trump when the Liberals were already considered the chief antagonists to my President. It gained him absolutely nothing. He was stupid in the way he handled that.
He lost the full support of his base.
Carney moved towards the center with his domestic rhetoric while getting to reinforce his “Elbows Up” message that appeals to many Canadians even still (I’ll grant he does understand his people even if he doesn’t work for them) and picked up left leaning wafflers; his base stayed intact and energized.
And both parties got to have the perfect scapegoat for their failures to their own people: ooooh, it’s the evil Trump and his evil new nazi America who’s to blame!
We’ll see what happens. USMCA on deck…
Pollievre tore a page straight out of the Tory playbook … mimic exactly what Labor does … prove that you’re nothing more than a UniParty eunuch … and watch the conservative voters stay home, not vote … and you get a Keir Starmer… or Carney Barker.
I feel SO, SO, VERY, sorry for Canada’s good conservative citizens.
I don’t see how fighting against draconian tariffs on Canadian exports to the US is moving to the left. In my book it’s patriotic. Further, traditional conservatives (a dying breed it seems) believe in economic freedom, including across borders except in limited circumstances.
And yes, it may have lost the some votes on the right (although who would they vote for?), but to not oppose Trump’s Liberation Day would have been disastrous, as the centre would have abandoned the CPC en masse.
Give it a rest you Killer Marmot.
We live here, Trump didn’t put us in this shit hole, Trudeau, Carney, and that TEMU Midget Barbie DID.
and FILTHY LIBERALS like you and the other ELBOWS UP BOOMER RETARDS.
You pathetic betas love blaming Trump for everything.
Tell us which ear the Bad Orange Man spoke and we’ll get some Jeet to rub it for you and give you a Hug.
Go away your points are juevenile and lies.
FILTHY LIBERAL
That’s better. I was afraid there’s be a political discussion on SDA without a vacuous post loaded with insults. But no, you save the day.
Vacuous? So I’ve herd!
“Are you sure?
Pollievre didn’t start losing support (and taking down his own party) until after he decided to go “Carney Lite”. ”
Exactly, Jane.
Dennis was correct to say “Inevitably, some will suggest that the Tories reinvent themselves to appeal to the left, but a string of electoral defeats with Red Tories at the helm points to the futility of that gambit.”
Poilievre has proven himself over and over to be nothing more than a ‘Progressive Conservative’ in disguise…in other words, Liberal Lite: 90% Liberal, 10% Conservative. The biggest problem with that is, in the absence of a Trudeau (Jr. or Sr.) screwing Canada’s economy almost to the point of collapse, the average Liberal voter will *always* choose a real Liberal over a 90% Liberal if they can. The NDP and the Bloc will hold their noses and vote Liberal when they feel that they absolutely have to, but will only vote Liberal Lite under the direst of circumstances.
We need those dire circumstances, now.
I hate to tell you this, but your dire circumstances might be more dire than even economic — you shouldn’t look forward to that possibility.
Things have changed in the last 3 months; your masters are getting a bit jittery and prone to nervous exhaustion.
And your PM works for them, not you. Of course, Pollievre works for them too, but he might not have the stomach Carney does, and that’s why I said months ago that if I was Canadian I’d probably have voted for him.
War Plan Red
“I hate to tell you this, but your dire circumstances might be more dire than even economic — you shouldn’t look forward to that possibility.”
I don’t have any choice left…my ‘conservative’ option was always a fantasy pushed on me by the Liberals and their MSM lackeys. ‘Controlled opposition’ is the term, I believe. They just wanted me to *think* I had a choice while actually offering none.
Tired of the game. Bring on the collapse.
Bring on the collapse.
Exactly. The quicker, the better.
Fred, Biker — your collapse will no doubt happen, and I’m definitely not saying you should give up, but please go into it with a clear mind:
1) it could get very ugly indeed
2) it may not work out the way you hope
Nothing is guaranteed and there are things lining up that could break very badly. Just as long as you understand this and what it might take to persevere. Ok?
Buried ! LOL They never had to bury them ever.
That’s how politically blind this country is and always will be until the bottom is found.
Existential crisis ……… Started a long time ago, before Trump came along.
Corrupt to the core , one only has to wonder at where it started the bottom or the top.
The ‘Don’t Buy American’ pivot is rapidly raising inflation to the point where Tiff will have to start raising rates while the Fed lowers. Soon enough Governor Carney of the Vassal State will have to kiss orange feet publicly.
Don’t see a huge upwards trend…
https://www.bankofcanada.ca/rates/price-indexes/cpi/
A snap spring election where the Liberals win a majority would be fantastic. It would show Albertan’s that a future in Canada is hopeless. It would be the final impetus that spurs Alberta’s separation. Go Carney!
Precisely!!!
It would demonstrate to ALL Albertans that their vote (which counts for less anyways) is absolutely worthless as canaduh finally devolves to a one party state.
In the 40 years that I have been voting, I think my vote MAYBE counted only during the Harper years. Every other time, Ontario and Quebec decided who they would have in power to rob from Peter (the West) to pay Paul (them)
Even those that vote liarberal or dipper in Alberta, your vote means ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. The liarberals have never formed a government with Alberta or Saskatchewan contributing to their plurality at all.
The perpetual nightmare of Liberal government continues. Canadians will continue to play nice until they confiscate our property and MAID the last one of us. People, grow a spine!
see?
toldjaso. CanaDUH wants, DEMANDS a party willing, capable and ACTUALLY destroying the nation from multiple fronts, socially, immigrtation totally screwed up, er, make that ‘screwed up’ single quotes indicating an ‘as if’ but in reality is DELIBERERATE. trade with our biggest trade partner screwed up in record time, energy policy in shambles, ah, the gun siezure is happening and a rough estimate is only $1000 per weapon. feel free to price those things. tree planting, see elsewhere in the blog. food prices record high, all this and more brought to you by Liberals at the behest of liberal VOTERS. theyre getting what they want, turning this ‘post national state’ intlo a post national state. and note, no ‘as if’ single quotes that time.
p.p.s. voters go to hades.
Rather than defending a position why we leave Canada, lets ask why should we stay.
It is abundantly obvious the liberals will continue to antagonize the US as it empowers the liberal narrative for a majority. Congratulations to the elbows up crowd, you win the indoctrinated useful idiot award. The liberals will cement its power in Ottawa, through its media propaganda wing, appointed senate and bloated civil service.
The liberal machine looks after itself first and is to be congratulated on its job well done claiming ownership of the levers of power the majority of Canada’s history. Another strong majority liberal win may be rhe best thing to collapse the federal conservative party and to expedite the illusion of this constitutional monarchy .
Let’s bring the reality of a free West a bit more each day !
“…some will suggest that the Tories reinvent themselves to appeal to the left, …”
Oh yeah…there’s your winning formula right there. For sure.
I am a little doubtful about this majority thing. I actually believe that Quebec may not provide them with the seats they need. I fully expect Les Bloc to hammer the crap out of the Plains of Abraham fiasco.
I just want to get the f@#k out of this mess and a Carney majority would probably accelerate it (see above) Any which way, we must now work to extricate ourselves from this desiccated, syphilitic corpse.
Léger, like Nanos and Liaison, always skew LIEberal. After all, an Order of Canada to a “pollster” speaks volumes.
Mainstreet and Abacus tend to be more realistic, and on X, Charestiste is well worth following.
Having said that, why a spring election? Gotta secure that elusive majority BEFORE USMCA is busted and broken, tossing Canada into a deep, lengthy recession. Then, the Lieberals will be on the ropes, but have 4 years to engorge themselves at the trough before fleeing for Davos.
After all, LIEberal voters do love their welfare and government largesse.
And what if my country decides that it won’t scrap USMCA, what then?
It would appear that the liarberals are doing everything they can to make that happen.
They are, which makes you wonder why they are. But it takes two to tango, and most of the media is sending the signal that it will be my country that scraps it. But, what if that isn’t the case?
Though it makes me feel a bit sick to be saying this today, I’m pleased the #Libranos are leading in the polls leading up to an Alberta separation referendum in autumn 2026. We know they’ll cheat, we know if the media catches them cheating, the MSM will go light on the #Libranos because “they’re saving the country” …
When we win this referendum, and the #Libranos refuse to negotiate, the likelihood of us having a declaration increases greatly, the US Admin has signaled they’ll recognize Alberta, and the US Admin has signaled they may abandon the USMCA, (or they may not) eastern Canada is on the hook for a bunch of F35’s they can only afford if they cut their budget like marc in calgary would, and that’s not going to happen as the #Libranos still have billions of trees to not plant and graft to ease they way.
The remaining citizens should plan on planting “Victory Gardens” so they don’t starve in the cold winters to come, and it pleases me that forever it will be noted that the #Libranos led to the demise of Canada, I also expect the #Libranos to attempt to negotiate a new Canadian Constitution to replace their old piece of crap. This may take another decade, all the while the #Libranos will pass bills freely without a real opposition and without a concern for the censorship they’ll impose upon you.
As for the right leaning areas left in Canada, it’s going to be shitty like it’s never been shitty before.
I expect that after seeing Alberta separate, Quebec’s separation support will soar and the balkanization will be complete when the PQ do as they’ve said they will, and have another separation referendum there sometime in 2028.
The mindless mushy middle have expanded when it comes to Carney’s appeal. People otherwise fed up with the Spawn have become totally dumbstruck with the slick reptilian bankster as if he is a fresh face in the swamp. The biggest threat to Alberta independence are the mindless mushy middle of the big cities who fit this mold. Trump plays in this as well.
This is what the #Libranos will do with their majority government:
“Do you think the government should criminalize everyday interactions in your home with your family? If not, you should read Bill C-16.
The bill creates new offences (Criminal Code Section 264.01), which are deeply concerning for normal, loving family interactions, based on a “pattern of coercive or controlling conduct,” even when no violence, threats, or illegal acts occur.
It criminalizes a pattern of otherwise lawful and often common behaviour that may later be perceived as threatening by an intimate partner.
That means ordinary family interactions could be re-interpreted as criminal after the fact.
Examples include:
– Asking a spouse where they are after they said they’d be home
-Expressing concern about excessive drinking
-Disagreeing about finances or spending
-Asking a partner not to give children junk food
– Raising concerns about time away from family
– Setting household boundaries or expectations
These are not crimes. They are part of marriage, parenting, and shared responsibility.
This does not diminish the seriousness of coercive control in genuinely abusive relationships. But criminal law should target clear abuse and violence, which are already addressed in law.
Bill C-16, as written, opens the door to police intervention in the homes of ordinary families.”
https://x.com/LeslynLewis/status/2016568089463156974
Thought crime.
When it comes to authoritarian rule, the Forever Liberal Government takes a holistic approach.
Good catch
The latest Leger poll doesn’t bother asking about the People’s Party, suggesting that most of the people who thiught voting PPC would change anything have gone back to the vomit they left behind with the Tories.
Max Bernier will make a fine leader of a transitional government negotiating the details of Canadian union with the United States once a few good men have rid us of Mark Carney.
Till then, get used to Mark. With numbers like this he doesn’t need to call an election—barring a police action by the US on their northern border or crushing tariffs that make the Canadian economy scream, Mark’ll be able to govern like he has a majority for quite a while.
Would you kindly stop suggesting that the US overthrow the Canadian PM by force? Love ’em or hate ’em, Carney was democratically elected.
PLEASE OVERTHROW US BY FORCE. Capture this dangerous Marmot and make him listen to Trump’s speeches 24/7.
FILTHY LIBERAL
Well that’s cruel. I can barely listen to that bullying, bragging, bullshitting, bloviating bovine for 10 minutes. I suspect even the Fox News crew face his personal press events with dread.
Why does it matter if he’s democratically elected? If he needs to go, he needs to go, however he got here.
So was Trump.
Justin cemented the liberal future with an extra 900,000 civil parasites.
Incidentally all records broke with imported beef into the country. Got to keep the peasants fed while impacting the western beef industry negatively??
The Trump administration bases a lot of its hostile policies towards Canada on the belief that China has infiltrated our government and even our military.
One wonders how much of that is factual and how much is based on an extension of Justin Trudeau’s well-known musings about the advantages of absolute power Beijing style.
Perhaps more to the point, one wonders what percentage of the Canadian electorate are even aware of the issue at all? When they think rosy thoughts about Mark Carney, how many include “and he’s also doing the will of Chairman Xi at all times?” And is he really? I think the truth is, our Liberal Party has always been soft on communism of all variants and is essentially a centre-left party who want to go slower than the NDP or Greens, but towards the same set of goals. But Carney has done his homework, he seems to know what will sell best, and he is making himself look like a non-ideological centrist pragmatist, which is what a lot of voters would like to endorse at the polls. I think he’s the most skilled at this since Jean Chretien. Harper was fairly skilled also, he presented himself as, okay obviously I am a conservative, but I govern from the centre and the economy is my main focus.
I realize that a large percentage of voters are relatively clueless, to call them low-information is to show a lack of understanding of the meaning of the word information, some are also misled to a great extent and are voting for an illusion. Others try to keep up with the facts but they consult sources that do not deal with facts, but only with narratives. Perhaps 3 or 4 per cent of the voters are fully informed. This is why the PPC vote is at best 3 to 4 per cent of the total. You have to be in one of those circles to be in the other, in the hidden Venn diagram of Canadian politics.
