  1. The first question I always ask myself; “Is this propaganda or news?” It’s always propaganda.

  2. The NYT has always devoted itself to organized crime and despotic governments. These is the over-arching values governing this newspaper.

  3. Am I reading this right? Some are only cluing in now to media trickery with respect to photo selection? Never mind the NY Times…let me introduce you to the Toronto Star, the absolute masters.
Trayvon Martin was the Benjamin Buttons of African American thuggery – On the one hand you’ve got the perpetual pre teen, innocent little boy wearing his maroon Hollister T shirt…on the other a much more realistic 17 year old, “Sizzurp” swilling feral dog, flashing his gold grill for his selfie.
I like how one writer in the replies tries to disassociate himself from this obvious sleight of hand by insisting photo selection is totally out of their control. Oh sure.
As if like minded individuals need a formal meeting complete with a secret knock to discuss photo choices.

    1. And with politicians they hate they always select a photo that that shows him in the worst possible way, such as with a scowl on his face.

    2. The trick I have called out media firms for is where no opposing views are presented when the story pushes the narrative. However a story against the narrative always has at least one opposition viewpoint to counteract it.

  4. There are so many categories of propaganda used in the MSM, you could write a book on them.

If it doesn’t push a far-left agenda, then the person/organization is “far-right”. If it does, no adjective is given.

If it runs counter to a far-left agenda, it’s “controversial”. If it doesn’t, it’s progressive and its proponents are “brave” and “visionary”.

If it’s popular, then those subscribing to that view are “fringe minorities bitterly clinging to old ways and religion”. If it isn’t, then there’ll be a tight camera shot of a few unhinged public sector loons representing “us”.

If it’s good for the people, it’s “not that simple” and requires enemy agents using Jesuitical arguments to shoot it down. If it’s moronic, then those same agents use Jesuitical arguments to prop it up.

If it’s good for the people, then it’s expensive. If it’s Marxist then it becomes, “If it only saves one life, no price is too high.”

No honest journalist works for the MSM.
