Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

What’s wrong with CO2?
Here it comes. he mentions “Climate Change”.
Whoops! One more adjustment needed on his graph. NOBODY keeps an EV for 180k miles. Because the battery is degraded. So the whole toxic mess of these degraded EV’s end up in a landfill near Mumbai or somewhere the poor unfortunate untouchables live.
Stick THAT in your graph and smoke it all you virtue signaling EV drivers.
Right. Before it’s driven half that far it needs the battery replaced. He forgot to include that.
Not that anyone will replace the battery, it would cost more than the car is worth.
I’m not a fan of BEV’s – all electric cars, but Tesla batteries are recycled and 95% of the materials are recovered.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8wgWAsrjfQ
Other manufacturers would be stupid to throw out those batteries – too much valuable copper, lithium, cobalt etc. At current prices there is about $330 worth of copper, $600-$800 in lithium, $150 in cobalt in the Tesla battery and that doesn’t include aluminum, etc.
The car itself has $1,000’s in aluminum and copper so they are also recycled just like steel cars and trucks.
Elon Musk may be a lot of things but he isn’t stupid.
One the issues not addressed by EVs is the over-sized vehicles driven by city folk. There is no need for a 400 mile EV if you live in Toronto. EVs should be limited to cities with a large population where collectively they would serve to lower air pollution. They don’t make sense on the highway or in rural areas. But hey, you guys forgot to elect me king.
Nah, people in Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver don’t need cars at all. They can take a bus.
And in Ottawa where the policies are made they can take a limo and charge it to the taxpayers.
Toronto has been warring upon the car since the David Miller days, with the latest thing being “vision zero” where cars are 100% responsible for the idiocy of pedestrians, so they must be punished with bike lanes on Bloor street. This increased travel time from Kipling to the Humber river from 8 minutes to 30 minutes during rush hour in both directions.
Air pollution from modern cars is almost non-existent, decreased by 98% since the ’80s so that isn’t an advantage either.
Yes, newer vehicles have extremely clean exhaust. There are some highly polluted third world cities where the exhaust coming out the tailpipe is cleaner than the air the engine sucked in.
CO2 is plant food.
It is not a climate driver except in fallacious and felonious computer models (“Lies, damned lies, statistics and computer models” – my apologies to Twain). The biggest driver in climate is the sun over which we have no control (even Billy Gates with his atmospheric injections is pure nonsense). The biggest control mechanism in the atmosphere are the clouds (which no one on planet Earth at this point has the foggiest idea how it works – pun intended) which makes up the lion’s share of the atmosphere – water vapor. CO2 is miniscule in comparison – 415 PPM at the median in the day, going up a night to about 1600 PPM when plants “sleep” because of lack of sunlight.
I appreciate the arguments made by the speaker up the point where he inserts climate change (a believer, I guess) into the discussion. “CO2 bad” is a very basic mistake.
The biggest obstacle to widespread adoption of EVs is economic.
The intellectual and government class with their tenured or civil service protected jobs can’t comprehend that there is a significant portion of the population who cannot ever hope to buy a new vehicle without having equity in the vehicle they are replacing they can access with a sale or trade in.
The resale market for EVs that have 75,000+ miles or 4-5 years on them is going to be pathetic, so they do not fit into the “trade in the old to afford the new” model many people work under.
This whole C02 as pollutant causing climate changes is now and always has been scam. There are two points to the scam. 1) To give buddies of government big fat juicy contracts to create these “green energy” boondoggles. 2) Stop people from having the freedom a gas vehicle brings. Confine humans to 15 minute ghettos and thereby restore feudalism.
