Compelled speech is incompatible with freedom of speech, therefore we do not have freedom of speech in Canada.
What happened? Were feelings hurt? Was someone made to feel ‘unsafe’? Did someone neglect to celebrate 2sLGBTQueer-mutant day? month? or season?

Not to be pedantic BUT
There is a country called England and another called Ireland/Eire and yet another called Northern Ireland/Ulster. Collectively I suppose you could refer to them as part of the British Isles along with all the others like Jersey/Guernsey/Isle of Man/Sicily Isles/ Orkney et.al. or if it doesn’t include Ireland/Eire then The United Kingdom of etc etc etc.
But England is a very definitive geological location and Dublin most certainly is not a part of England never has been, never will be.
How to give the kind of apology that Pierre Trudeau himself would have given:
“If I uttered something that may be construed as regrettable by some other person, I might have been mistaken.”
There it is. Dripping with genuine sorrow.
