But Orange Man Bad

The massive propaganda campaign launched by the Liberals has proven to be very successful. They’ve convinced a vast number of Canadians that all of their problems are the fault of President Trump rather than anything else.

Update: JD Vance has just chimed in:

And with all due respect to my Canadian friends, whose politics focus obsessively on the United States: your stagnating living standards have nothing to do with Donald Trump or whatever bogeyman the CBC tells you to blame.

The fault lies with your leadership, elected by you.

  1. Many older Canadians are awash in the myth of things like Canadian superiority in terms of our collapsing medicare system, our fake “peace keeping” role by our military, our mediocre pension system and on and on. They are too badly brain washed and narrow minded to be able to look outside their own bias for reality.

Our problems are of our own making and too many people are just either to blind or plain stupid to realize it.

  2. Wait till AI starts hacking and slashing jobs by the truckloads. I’m seeing it already and we’re just warming up…blaming Trump will only take you so far. But we’re Canadian so when it comes to blaming others we’re open to suggestions.

Kind of weird you’d use J.J.”Endstage TDS” McCullough as a reference, J.J. thinks a good Trump antidote is for Canada to join the EU.
Then again…I saw a photograph of Rachel Maddow, James Carville and Anthony Fauci at Dick Cheney’s funeral this morning… I think Flip Floppery is so hot right now.

    1. I originally saw mention of this on Michael Campbell’s financial advice page on Facebook. I decided to then go to the source he was quoting. Sorry that this offended you.

      1. Not offended in the least – I should’ve left out “you’d” and instead put the focus solely on McCullough, who’s said more than a few things from a political perspective that make made me go “Huh?”.

    2. And whatever this means, the optics are surreal.
Madcow walked in WITH traitor Gen Milley.
      Strange bedfellows.
The only thing this whole entourage has in common, the only shared principle, is, HATRED.

    3. JJ, as a gay man, is still coming to terms with the fact that BaD OrAnGeMaN isnt the homophobe he’s been told to hate. Between Peter Theil, Scott Bessent, and Richard Grenell, for starters, it certainly appears, that has been just another slur and slander.
Slagging JJ is just nudging him along to the good side.

    4. Canadians would much rather fail and have someone to blame, than to succeed and have to take credit and keep doing it. Too much responsibility, not the coward way. If forced to sum up Canadians in one word, it would be COWARD.

The only positive thing is young or old, no one gives a flying f*ck about climate change.

  3. L – The MSM/cable news operate an effective 24/7 Psy-Op on their subscribers. They often suffer from a low to medium to high level of anxiety. But they vote, most eagerly for the fantasylandia that confirms their bias.

The struggle for the hearts and minds of younger voters, to either hold the traditional values that built Western Civilization or to be hardline Cult. Marxists agents of chaos. That is the real theatre of battle.

    1. Generally Americans concerns themselves with things that are important and that matter, Canada does not matter and is only self-important.

  4. You think this is bad now… Canada has already received ‘advice’ not to cancel or reduce the F35 purchase…

  5. It’ll be an unpopular opinion I’m sure but I think Canada will continue it’s downward trajectory until old Liberal Canadians have shuffled off this mortal coil. These older Canadians are stuck in nostalgia. They think the Canada they remember from their youth and working days still exists. That Canada is long gone, mostly due to them voting for the Liberal party. They are completely disconnected from the ugly realities of today’s youth and working families. This makes the typical old Liberal voter extremely susceptible to propaganda. It’s easy for the Liberal party and their paid media to manipulate their long time resentment and biases against conservatives, Alberta, Saskatchewan and the USA.

Old Liberal voters will be gone before the economic nightmare hits the hardest so they can afford to be ignorant and obnoxious.

    1. Their plan was to replace the old LPC/NDP demographic with Jihadis but by the time the boomers are gone, the Jihadis will no longer need the left/woke except for public beheadings.

      1. Ann Coulter’s recent comments are appropriate:
SIMONE: “…where are the elders of the [Democrat] party to stop this? Why aren’t they doing something about it?”
COULTER: “Oh, I’m so glad you asked. They’re all dying. They’re all between 80 and one foot in the grave. Something that’s been happening with the Democratic Party, I mean, this has been ongoing for a while. It was their idea to bring in, what is it, at this point, about 40 million third worlders because, oh, great news, they’re voting nine to one for us. Well, it didn’t occur to the Democrats, [that] at some point, the third worlders would want to vote for their own, and that’s exactly what’s happening.”

      2. Perhaps. Personally, I think Canada will fall apart before that replacement happens. The provinces that make money will break free from the freeloader provinces. The breakaway provinces need only radically reform social benefits and the freeloaders within their province will migrate to what remains of Canada. The effect of social benefits shopping/freeloading on migration patterns is underrated, imo.

          1. How about they stop paying federal taxes and we stop handing over federal money. Should make the country about $13B a year richer. Then we can talk about all of those Canadian companies moving out of Quebec which should add to the bottom lines of the other provinces. We could then stop with the bilingualism which should save another big chunk of change.

However you know the feds won’t let that happen because the Liberals would never be in power again.

        1. You mean both of them. Sadly, Canadian innate cowardice will win out, they’ll only leave as it fails, to late to make a difference. To have even a snowballs’s chance AB and SK need to be gone in the next 12 months, which they are too afraid to do.

    2. There is just way too many boomers with guaranteed pensions, the economy and lack thereof just does not affect them. They have no understanding of reality, life or anything other than – “Canada can go into 10 trillion in debt and I don’t care as long as I get my pension deposit”. My inlaws consist of 3 teachers and a retired Canada Post manager, holiday conversations are surreal. They all think Trudeau was awesome and brilliant.

      1. Yep. I see that in my family too. The political leanings of relatives with a government employee defined pension plan are the polar opposite to those who are/were ranchers, farmers or in non-government employment (including those in trade unions).

      2. Grist for my contention that no one gaining an income from government should have a vote. Blatant conflict of interests.

  6. Some of us older Canadians see the bigger picture and recognise Trump for the international game-changer he is. It’s natural that youngsters will focus more on their daily concerns and short-term prospects but retirees .. men in particular .. become more philosophical, which leads us into a broader view of events and VIPs. I would have rated Trump as the top issue concerning Canadians for that reason and not because of anti-American sentiment or TDS.

  7. It is oft repeated on the MSM and by individuals who love to pontificate on this that our high grocery (and other) prices are due to the Trump tariffs.
High prices? Life unaffordable? Trump tariffs!
Ummm….how does Trump doing something that raises prices on Canadian goods sold in the US have any effect on prices in Canada?
    Answer – It Doesn’t!
The tariffs that our own gov’t put on goods coming into Canada make many of our prices higher. Those tariffs are a tax that our government placed on our people who buy any produce that originated in the US.
Wanna punish Trump? Tax our own people more! Make ’em pay all they’ve got for groceries! Pile the taxes on to our own people!
    That’ll show Trump!
And the sheeple keep bleating how it’s Trump’s fault.

  8. Canadian boomers blaming THEIR problems on an external boogie man instead of their own failed policies. Sounds downright communist to blame others for your own self-made failings.

    1. The Liberal Party motto : promise everything, deliver nothing, blame someone else

The Liberal voter motto: believe Liberal promises, deliver poverty to the young, blame someone else.

    2. Hating America as a source of personal identity has been a thing in Canada for awhile. It is not just a boomer thing. If I had to put my finger on it I would say Canadians don’t like American pride. The recent Trump hating is the feeling that Trump embodies everything we hate about Americans and then some. We would have preferred Kamala Harris, Joe Biden or even Jeb Bush. Give us a quiet blundering fool. And a blanket.

  9. “The fault lies with your leadership, elected by you.” – J.D. Vance… and endorsed by my Boss.

  10. Viewing Trump as the most critical issue facing Canadians today is not “boomer anti-Americanism.”

It’s recognizing that Trump is attempting to strip Canada’s auto sector from it, as well as crippling the economy in many other ways, in an apparent attempt to annex the entire bloody country.

      1. Canada’s car assembly is over 90% foreign owned. Auto parts manufacturing is around 40% (and dropping).

Given that auto parts manufacturing is about three times bigger than assembly by revenue in Canada, this means that foreign ownership isn’t much over 50%.

        Next time check your facts.

        1. Does Canada really have a Canadian owned auto-sector? Even if the parts companies are Canadian owned doesn’t address the question. Who designs the cars? Who decides where they get made? Allowing Canadian companies to make some of your parts doesn’t make the sector Canadian. In fact I’m hard-pressed to come up with an industry that is truly Canadian owned other than in resources.

          1. Magna is huge. Also Linamar, Martinrea, Bombardier, ABC technologies.

The way that the modern auto sector works is that company that assembles the car and puts their name might not make any components. Most of the work is done by the parts manufacturers.

          2. All I know is that when I was rebuilding the top of my BMW 535i convertible engine … to repair/replace the leaky valve cover gasket … I had the option to buy genuine German parts or cheap Chinese knock-offs that are sold ALL OVER the internet for 2/3 the price of German parts. Now, while there are SOME equivalent OEM quality routine maintenance parts … there was NO WAY I would have bought anything other than the genuine BMW valve cover.

I have wayyyyy too much of my personal TIME involved in the project to play ChiCom roulette with some crap parts made with melamine or something. I have no intention of doing this repair twice. So … nothing but the BEST available parts for me.

          1. Deadly Marmot is a dedicated TDS Trump-hater … so all of his comments can be colored with that understanding.

Is this a good place to say ALL the US stock market indexes were up BIG today … following days of gains. Now where was that bubble talk … and terrible tariff torpedoing of the US economy? Sorry … the US economy isn’t collapsing. No. Really. Sorry for your Canadian disappointment.

          2. According to Kenji — an American — any Canadian who resents Trump trying to force annexation of their country through ruinous trade policies is suffering from TDS.

          3. Anyone who fantasizes that Trump even contemplates annexing Canada plainly suffers from clinical and debilitating TDS, to the point where we must suspect syphilitic origins.

    1. Canada’s auto sector only exists because the U.S. has allowed it to. It has been allowed to participate in the U.S. industry but that will come to a screeching halt during the upcoming USMCA renegotiations next year. If the Liberals had any brains (and they don’t), they would align Canada’s economic policies as tightly as they can with those of the U.S. And that is because the U.S. is on the right track now.

      1. Well that’s Trump’s version.

The reality is that, prior to 1965, Canada and the US had all sorts of tariffs on automobiles and parts from the other country. If you bought a car in Canada, it was probably made in Canada.

The US wanted to export cars en masse to Canada, so they made a deal — no tariffs. This made the entire North American auto sector more efficient. An auto plant in either country could focus on building only a few models that could be sold across North America.

        1. “Well that’s Trump’s version.”

Yes, and President Trump is in charge. Something you elbow uppers can’t seem to fathom.

          1. Yes Trump is in power for now. But that doesn’t mean he’s factually correct. In fact, he seldom is.

          2. The biggest pusher of President Trump removing vehicle assembly from Canada and Mexico and moving it to America is the United Auto Workers Union.

            Chew on that Unifor……

          3. The joke’s on them. Trump’s overall tariff policies will likely hurt the UAW more than help, as steel and aluminium import tariffs will make US-built cars more expensive and less competitive. Tariffs on Chinese goods will make auto electrical systems more expensive. And many counter tariffs have been imposed on US automobiles in response to Trump’s trade policies.

If the UAW was smart, they would be demanding fewer trade barriers, but no one every accused unions of being economically literate.

        2. Yes, the Auto Pact agreement worked good for Canada, for every one vehicle sold in Canada, one had to be built in Canada.

Then your beloved WTO ruled it illegal, so now no vehicles have to be built in Canada to sell vehicles in Canada.

          1. First, the WTO isn’t MINE, thanks very much. Go project somewhere else.

Second, it’s irrelevant to my point.

          2. It IS relevant, the WTO is what killed many foreign vehicle companies building vehicles in Canada, but still sell them here.

          3. The fact is that the development of the auto industry on both sides of the border was advantageous to both countries. The Americans were not just doing Canada a favour out of the goodness of their heart.

          1. Yep, and it was replaced by the FTA and then NAFTA and then USMCA.

My point is that Canada’s auto industry was not some favour by the Americans. Free trade was (and is) very much to both parties’ advantage.

        3. The reason that cars/trucks are built in Canada at all is the cost of doing business, GM in the US spends more on emplyee healthcare than on sheet metal, combine that with a devalued Loonie ($ 1.415) and Canada still has a hard time staying in the game.
          Canada…a special kind of stupid

          1. Actually, Canada was staying in the game very well. I know. I’ve owned Canadian auto parts stock for many years. That’s what annoyed Trump. He wants it all for the US.

      1. It is time to quit the whining about the Boomers. I am a Boomer, I did not get sucked into the Orange Man Bad, Liberal election platform and do not suffer from TDS. It is time to accept the reality, that Americans could care less about Canada and the self absorbed Canadians, because we, on the world stage are insignificant. Former UK PM Elizabeth Truss warned about how Carney as the head of the Bank of the UK DESTROYED their economy and would do the same with Canada, but few would listen and now we are witnessing it. The fast track to total complete destruction is underway and soon even the Elbows Up, kool-aid drinkers need to get over themselves, and push for the 51st State hood, if for no other reason that to have the rights provided by the 1st and 2nd amendment. God Bless the USA.

      2. ““in an apparent attempt to annex the entire bloody country.”
        Woohoo. Got my vote.”

I’m still fascinated by the sheer number of people in Canada who really, sincerely *believe* that Donald Trump wants to “annex Canada”. For what…so he can gain 40 million new Democrat voters?

IT WAS A JOKE. Most people got it…you “Elbows Up!” idiots did not.

Repeat that to yourselves as often as necessary. IT WAS A JOKE.

        1. A joke that he has repeated at least ten times, the last being September 30th. And two of Trump’s administrators have repeated the “joke”: Secretary of State Marco Rubio and presidential advisor Howard Lutnick. Trump’s also “joked” about Greenland and Panama joining the US — except no one considers that a joke.

At some point, it dawns on all but the most obtuse that he’s not joking.

Trump wants his face on Mount Rushmore, and he figures the way to do it is expand US territory.

          1. “Trump’s also “joked” about Greenland and Panama joining the US — except no one considers that a joke.”

No one except for the people intelligent and mature enough to understand it. Not a surprise that you don’t.

“At some point, it dawns on all but the most obtuse that he’s not joking.”

The really obtuse don’t get the fact that if the joke appears to rattle its intended target, they are then guaranteed to hear it over and over again.

          2. “hemispheric defense” It’s a think KM. For all but the most unaware it’s obvious that a grand bargain has been struck, China gets Taiwan, Russia gets Ukraine, and the US, the Americas. China was balls deep in Brazil, Venezuela, Columbia and Argentina. The US is about to make Maduro walk the plank, and all of a sudden he can’t get Beijing on the phone. Likewise Lula as buttoned his lip. They know.
Sucks if you are in Taiwan, well kinda, with western governments now surveilling their own citizens phones, social media, etc. without a warrant, it would only be a difference in degree, not in kind. The Chi Coms charge a much lower income tax than we do, who is really free?

          3. Fred from BC:

What kind of joke isn’t funny, creates international tension, and is repeated over and over again?

The kind that isn’t a joke.

        2. On how many of the occasions was the “joke” a response to a question from a journalist? Just whose obsession are we tracking here? Oh, I’m not asking Marmot, he hasn’t got a bleeding clue, but he might look it up and consider.

          1. When the most powerful man in the world keeps repeating that he wants to annex Canada, you’d have to be a damn fool to dismiss it.

            That’s be you, ebt.

      3. Mine too. My wife is American and we are waiting on my greencard application so I can get out of this third world —-hole. if the USA came to us I wouldn’t have sell my home and uproot myself. Bring it on!

    2. So let him annex the entire bloody country. It’s not like Canadians are doing anything useful with it anyway.

      1. Can you imagine the combined prosperity of the combined two countries. American willpower and Canadian resources.

      2. Trump’s immigration policies would be enough reason to want him in charge, The only fireworks display left down my way is Diwali, or however you spell “holiday for people who don’t do hygiene.

    3. I marvel at all this angst about auto, Ag and energy are bigger industries. Also, if Trump actually wanted to Annex Canada, one phone call to Carney “you’re annexed” and that would be that. Who would stand against it? The EU? Their only call would be to Trump “does our trade deal still stand?” The only true outrage would be from the Chi Coms, all that time to totally subvert Canada, bribe and buy it’s government and politicians and Trump took it. That would piss them off, for sure.

  11. “Melissa Lawford is just as ignorant as most of the voters, and Mark Carney as to what the problems with Canada’s economy is.

The government gets in the way.
Trump didn’t impose carbon taxes at both the consumer and industrial level.
Trump didn’t embrace so called “Renewable power” that needed massive subsidies that customers are still paying for.
Trump doesn’t run a subsidy factory that picks winners and losers in the Canadian economy.
Trump doesn’t block non-canadian companies from participating in the Dairy, Media, Telecommunications or Banking Sectors.
Trump didn’t hire 1.3 million snivel servants, nor cause Canada to employ 1.4 million in education which is largely publicly funded, nor 2.3 million people employed in publicly funded health care.
Trump didn’t pass laws that prevent Canadian companies from engaging in competition for health care dollars. Trump didn’t pass punitive taxation laws to support all those publicly funded industries, and the 479,680 on social assistance.
Trump isn’t responsible for complicated product labelling laws that require information in 2 different languages, even if there is no one that needs it.
Trump didn’t rule that “Fee Simple Title” is subordinate to “Aboriginal Land Claims”.

But, Trump is a convenient boogyman for the Liberals who decided to become nationalists after 10 years of repeating the mantra “Canadians have no core identity” and the festering morons that believed them.”

And, of course, one of the responses was the CBC talking point: “but he did smash canadas industrial base with huge tariffs for no good reason other than to crush it economy and steal its industries. Canada’s economy survived the other shit.” Which ignores that the government of canada was doing that already by it’s ideological commitment to deindustrialization via net zero programs.

    1. Excellent summary JD. Unfortunately there are stupid people everywhere who don’t realize that they are stupid.

  12. L- Kate, that J.D. Vance quote is priceless. Pin it ? See if it goes viral?

British Columbia has just been launched into political chaos, as residents face the loss of their fee simple ownership of their homes and businesses. Nothing focus the mind like being evicted from your home and the entire province turned into a homeless shelter/safe injection site.

There is something in the air. It might be a mind virus or it might be the killler T-cells of the human immune system rallying to destroy invasive mind viruses?

  13. President Trump is doing what he was elected to do. Fix America. For Americans. Last time I checked, Canada was still not part of America. Canada could choose to help him fix America (drugs, illegal immigration, foreign interference) or get run over in the process. Canada chose to lay down in front of the Trump Train.

    1. Maybe if Trump didn’t kick Canada in the teeth with tariffs, co-operation would come a little easier.

As it is, Trump is actually driving Canada towards China, as we need a market for our products.

      1. “Maybe if Trump didn’t kick Canada in the teeth with tariffs, co-operation would come a little easier.”

Maybe if all the Liberal Canadians like you hadn’t thrown an immature tantrum when Donald Trump insulted them with a throwaway joke designed to let them know how utterly unimportant they really are, they might have realized that they had NO OPTION but to cooperate with him (and still don’t). Deal with it, loser.

        1. “LIberal Canadians like you”

I’ve been voting conservative since before you were born. But I forget. You guys aren’t conservatives, as conservatives don’t believe in implementing massive new taxes that restrict trade. I don’t know what you guys are, but not conservative.

      2. China has no interest in anything but Ag and energy, just like every other country….hmmmm, might be something to that.

      3. ” actually driving Canada towards China” that’s always Canada’s, ‘the path of least resistance’ with the most political reward. The country has been sold out for many decades starting with Trudeau 1 and multiculturism. Every ‘new’ ethnic group allowed into Canada in numbers far in excess of need has turned into tribalism, where every Tom Dick and Singh has infected every institution. We are so fuggin’ afraid of calling out criminality within these groups, dare we be called rasist, we allow this behaviour to spread unchecked.
The free ride is over children, Canada is done.

        1. Well it’s either trade with China or impoverishment. That’s the choice that Trump has given Canada.

A smart president would make Canada an even closer ally with free trade and other treaties, but that’s not who’s in the White House now.

  14. And Nutrien announced a billion for export facility in Lonview Washington. So what’s to stop grain, oil etc moving south rather than to Canada’s west coast. Their dysfunction will be their demise. A free Sask and Alberta just got one step closer to a reality.

  15. Of course it is Trumps fault,as seen by the Chicken Dancer Cult.
    Emoters avoid critical thinking.
Our progressive comrades know for sure, that all of their failures are caused by sinister opposition forces..Like Bad Orange Man and his MAGNA posse..It never occurs to them that they are the destroyers.
“We will save you from Dread Covid, even if we have to kill you”.
When some Canadian Truckers answer government extortion with “No”,it is a “National Emergency”.

And it was that dastardly Orange man, with his time machine, that made Canada into the lawless, bankrupt and defenceless shithole we have become.
    Every Chicken dancer knows this.
Think back, just a few short months, when needling Canada’s first black prime minister,Donald Trump told Canada what any adult can see.

    Canada is broke.
    Canada is not honest.
Canada does not properly finance our military defence.
    Our police forces are corrupt.
Canadian citizens have neither individual rights or any legal protection from government abuse…
No rights,no freedoms, that government cannot abridge by declaring themselves to be in a state of panic.
Canada is seen as a future threat to the USA northern border,as we turn ourselves into Haiti North.

    How did our “leadership” respond?
    By throwing a massive tantrum..
Openly shrieking “Orangeman Bad and badmouthing both the USA and The President…
    And?
The Chicken Dancers rewarded these “leaders”.

So WTF? Can Ahh Duh indeed.

Now as a Western Separatist, this idiocy is wonderful.
We already trade North South, having been prevented East West access by Canada.
Trade with the USA makes the West richer.
Ottawa and Confederation are a constant economic drain and an active impediment to future planning, with a track record of making every westerner poorer.

So the elbows up idiocy, with their TDS are a boon to the separation movement.
Making all Canadians poorer and more stupid, hastening the undecided western citizenry toward the only possible conclusion.
We must separate our affairs from these fools and bandits before they take away our children’s future.
Slaving for the Kleptocracy is not a “better future”.
One very interesting aspect of these same “Patriotic Canadians” is their language.
The very same talking points and venom, whether they be discussing/emoting toward, President Trump or Alberta..Saskatchewan gets ignored cause they cannot spell the name.

Go to any you tube, blog by these people, refer your undecided on separation friends…reading the comments will drive Albertans away.
When they hate you and say they want you dead?
    Believe them.

  16. Man. Vance nailed it, eh!

For the past few years, anytime someone started their Trump this and Trump that, I’d tell them: “Yup. Just keep looking at that big orange squirrel to the south. That’s where our government weasels want you looking while they’re stealing off your plate.”

  17. The best example of this was this guy who showed up at the gun range with his “elbows up” T-shirt. I asked him who was going to take his gun away, Trump or Carney. Frigging idiot.

  18. As VP Vance said, “The fault lies with your leadership, elected by you.”
I would only add, “and the garbage constitution your gov’t has hamstrung you with…”
perhaps after AB/Sask. separate old tier 2 Canada will ditch that piece of shit.

Canadians may find it helpful to keep in mind that VP Vance is very likely to be elected President #48 in 2028 for what looks to be a continuous run of 12 years. If VP chooses Rubio for his VP… well it won’t matter by then but it could be 20 continuous years of GOP.

and in Vance’s 2nd term, PM Marx Carnage will be promising that Canada’s new naval frigates and 2 submarines will be complete “maybe soon” …

Now do you see why The President said he looked forward to Marx Carnage being PM of tier 2 Canada?

  19. Wow, how the poles have reversed within this modern-day “generation gap”. Despite their serious and tangible concerns, the kids are alright. Perhaps my fellow boomers, stricken with such rabid anti-Americans should sooth themselves with some pro-Canadian M.A.I.D. as a cure is clearly unlikely.

  20. ABC stores don’t seem to have bobble heads anymore. I wanted to get the surfer 47 to trigger the neighbours when I returned. I might have to stick with surfer 45 (triggered the clerk at Hilo Hatties when I bought it).
