Sun- Kinew stalls as Manitoba leans on federal cash and ignores untapped mineral wealth
Manitoba has that opportunity — and it’s buried in the ground.
Our province is home to some of the most valuable critical minerals in the world. Lithium, nickel, copper, cesium, and rare earth elements are all present in commercially viable quantities, especially in regions like Snow Lake, Lynn Lake, and the Thompson Nickel Belt. These are not just rocks in the ground. These are the building blocks of everything from electric vehicle batteries to wind turbines to advanced electronics. And the global demand for them is rising fast.

This is why WEXIT couldn’t include Manitoba. They’d drag the rest down. The NDP is anti-capitalist and anti-development, but they sure don’t mind taking other people’s hard-earned money made in resource development. BC is doing the same thing. NDP, again.
Some voters have to learn everything the hard way.
When those advocating for AB/Sask separation hear Manitobans chime in on the conversation they usually say how Manitoba should be included, but they never talk about that massive hole that Manitoba Hydro has on their balance sheet, nor the provincial gov’t debt, nor their continuing affair with electing NDP back to the 70’s or their province taking in $ Billions each year in interprovincial welfare.
I think Manitoba should keep a closer look at the anger AB/Sask. have with staying in tier 2 Canada, so they’re not so surprised when they lose 20% or whatever equalization pays their gov’t.
Manitoba is a welfare dependency no different than Atlantic Canada, they should be included in Wexit right after PEI, ffs. Shithole.
Lots ‘n lots of takers in the northern part of the province.
Was just thru Winnipeg a few days back and it was tough to find accommodations – people from the north had evacuated, filling up the hotels and motels, returned home and then came back to Wpeg. Seems if there was any sort of damage to their communities it was up to the government to fix the problems.
Seems it’s a culture thing!!
So quit with the equalization nonsense.
That is the mos sensible solution, by far. Equalizaion has no place in a federation, and like any other form of socialism, punishes the productive and subsidizes the unproductive. The especially shitty shithole province where I reside part time, NS, has shale running for over a hundred miles through coal country (idle). Frac it, horizontal drill and hello Pennsylvania we’re good. Nope, it all sits idle while our rent seeker in chief pins his hopes to offshore wind, despite it being a massive black hole everywhere it has been done. Shithole.
