    1. Back when Toronto was still fun, there was a little bar across High Park on Bloor that would have a 3-piece play live on Sundays with a Hammond organ. Lots of Booker T and they made the best Southern style wings.

    2. I watched them at The Monterey Pop Festival in California in 1967, but I don’t recall that they played this particular song. Heard it a lot though on the radio. I was in the US military at the time stationed at The Defense Language Institute West Coast Branch. Not a rock fan at all but went to hear these guys, Otis Redding and Lou Rawls.

What was interesting was how polite everyone was. Not like Woodstock at all.

  1. Always have time for some Booker T.

From the local fishwrap a weird crime story from May just keeps on getting weirder.

As far as anyone can tell right now the victim was abducted from a residence. Not long after a two car collision with a fatality closes section of a roadway. Eventually the scenario is revised to say it wasn’t a random collision but intentional and that the two vehicles might have been connected. From this update is sounds like the abduction victim tried to get out of the moving vehicle and was hit by an accomplice in the pickup truck following right
behind. Not much excitement around these parts and this is quickly turning into a Coen Brothers movie.

  2. Booker T and the MG’s …the backbone of STAX records Memphis Tn. (Soulsville USA) produced some reat artists: Otis Reading, Issac Hayes, BT+MG’s, Rufus+Carla Thomas, the Staples, Little Milton, Eddie Floyd, Warren Haynes, Albert King, Melin Van Peebles, Felix Cavaliere and Richard Prior (in his drummer days). The original building burned down but was rebuilt up the block to near original condition. Before Issac Hayes stepped up, he drove the tour bus for Stax acts.

… Muamer Spahic, 39, was arrested and charged with two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, two counts of careless storage of a firearm, breach of probation, mischief over $5,000, possession of a prohibited device, possession contrary to order and possession of restricted firearm with ammunition, police say…

  4. HE ALSO VOWED TO SUE THOSE WHO WRONGED HIM

The Second Circuit Court of Appeals on Wednesday unanimously threw out the conviction of Pro-Trump meme maker and Crooked Hillary tormenter Douglass Mackey for posting memes during the 2016 election in an effort to help Trump win.
“We REVERSE Mackey’s conviction and REMAND the case to the district court with instructions to enter a judgment of acquittal,” the decision from the court reads.
Mackey had previously been sentenced to federal prison for “conspiracy to interfere with potential voters’ right to vote in the 2016 election for the Office of the President of the United States.”
He also vowed to sue those who wronged him.

Douglass Mackey on X: “I would like to thank God, thank my family, thank my beautiful wife, attorney Andrew Frisch, the incredible attorneys at Jones Day, and YOU—the friends who prayed and donated and spread the word since day one.” / X

      1. “I thought Trump had stopped these attacks.”

        On American vessels, yes.

    1. At least CBC called it Taiwan. The Canadian government calls it Chinese Taipei.
