    1. By the way, I lived in Alberta and was in favor of separation when PET promulgated the National Energy Program and the useless Charter of “Rights and Freedoms”.

      At this point,for those who want Confederated Canada to continue, 43% should be a frightening statistic.
      (Allowing for the obvious, polling being what it is.)
      With no leadership and so early in “Carney Government”,that 43% would be willing to Separate is downright encouraging to Separatists.
      Wait for the idiocy and blunders of Ottawa.
      And the real discussion to begin here in the West.

      Given the past record of polling,in that conservatives and people who actually work,tend to Not Respond,causing a 3-10% bias toward left wing choices..

      Wait for the abuse from the East to ramp up.
      The idiots of Ottawa know only fear campaigns,a tactic certain to alienate Westerners further.
      And wait for the Carney duplicity and Liberal promises to explode.

      Money talks.
      Canada is bankrupt.
      Ruled by fools and bandits.
      With no path to fiscal sanity.
      Separation of our mutual affairs,as in divorce, seems the only path forward.
      For one party is intent on bankrupting us all.

      Canada just voted.
      The East has spoken.
      Once again.

      That “Long March Through the Institutions” has been a glorious success.
      Elections Canada being a perfect example.

        Ottawa and the powers down east have been betraying and abusing Alberta for decades, yet you suggest Albertans should wait until things get really, really bad. That’s akin to battered wife syndrome.

        By the way, that 43% is only conservative voters, not all voters in Alberta. I imagine there are also a fair number of non-voters who may be anti-independence.

        1. Considering that there isn’t any real organization behind separatism, it doesn’t take much imagination to see how that gets to 50%+1 in a real campaign.

          1. Canada gets a new national holiday and the pride folks get a month to smash it publicly and proclaim all gay all the time for everyone is the way to go, based upon 3-5% of the populace actually being part of these groups. The islamic brigade imported into Canada is still under 5% and laws are on the books saying “islamophibia” is prohibited, no shortage of under 5% making an impact here. Quebec’s total population is about 22% and there isn’t a box of cereal available sold only in English. The entirety of the political class proclaims “Happy Whatever” on each of their national or high religious holidays (I actually don’t have a problem with this as long as we recognize that we don’t need another day off) so it seems 42% of the conservative base in Alberta may be able to ramp up that sector to a majority, especially after the east starts to tell us “how they really feel” as if the NEP wasn’t enough the first time around….
            “Less Ottawa, more freedom” may sell.

            I think separation will take 50% +1

        2. In “Wait for the abuse to ramp up” I meant,that as separation sentiment increases under the Liberals constant impoverishment of working persons..The idiots of Ottawa will start to take the threat more seriously and will start a propaganda campaign ..

          Another tone deaf,lecturing and hectoring fear campaign..cause this is what Progressive Comrades do.
          Which will end up really pissing Western Canadians off.

          We already know they hate us.
          Wait til they try to pretend to love us.
          What little work the Carney Government has performed or proposed already paves this path.

          Yah saw that we were discussing conservative voters (So the pollsters say).

  13. Police raids in southern Ontario turn up $2.3M in contraband tobacco; 5 charged

    … Last November, Ali Mallah, 58, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with trafficking contraband tobacco.

    … Four more people were arrested in April, police said.

    Charged with trafficking contraband tobacco are:

    Omar Omran, 25, of Scarborough
    Nael Alwarasaneh, 36, of Burlington
    Abdelrahman Hasan, 28, of Brantford
    Saif Hasan, 20, of Brantford

    The accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear again in court on Monday.
