Armstrong Economics- How Alberta Can Actually Separate from Canada
This is perhaps one of the most fascinating reports I have ever written. This was inspired by my invitation to speak in Alberta concerning their movement to separate from Canada. A few propose being the 51st State, but the more practical move would be to become a sovereign state on their own, which I lay out in the proposal that would rock the entire world and propel Alberta to a leader among nations.

I think we’d be better off as a sovereign nation.
We may need to join the US at some point in the future, but be aware, the USA settled the question of secession long ago…
Indeed. Entry is easier than exit. Perhaps the annexation treaty should have a provision for later exit. The Confederacy ‘s mistake was not just leaving but making war on U.S. forts. Up to that point, they broke no laws.
I don’t think it would be very wise to play cute with my country anymore.
Oh…hope you’ve saved up for your portion of our security system. You’ll have to be covered due to your geographic position, but you’ll have to pay.
Won’t be a problem….there are several countries that have no military….but I’m pretty sure the U.S. would be more than happy to take over the Cold Lake base.
As the republic of Alberta the state murder of children could be banned, unlike Canada where the liberal are putting in an express lane to kill off the people born in Canada.

This Report will shock you as it did me.
It is Reasonably Priced at $19.95 and comes out to 314 pages, fully illustrated. //
Ohhkaay.
The internet is full of BS grifters these days. Martin Armstrong is just another one raking in money from idiots.
Very surprised Francisco posted this link which is nothing more than a plug.
Frankly, the video of the Armstrong video left me with the impression that… although I find myself agreeing with most of his conclusions, that Armstrong doesn’t have a full comprehension of the situation on the ground.
Can we agree that anyone who was born in Alberta, when it was part of the country formerly known as Canada, should automatically be granted citizenship in the new country?
Or has been living here, paying taxes, for the past 10, 20, 30+ years?
DCH, Zon, I am with you.
I left Ontario many moons ago and met and married a true blue Alberta gal 40 years ago, and lived there for over 30 years, paying taxes and contributing to the cause etc.
We retired from Alberta and settled in the Okanagan 11 years ago, but we would move back if things go the way they may go.
Medicine Hat is sunny.
Or can sponsor family members from Ontario? (Who are God-fearing, Conservative, free market, smaller government, freedom loving citizens?)
Fingers crossed.
Does that include Marx Carnage?
The average number of what percent of the population is required to pull off a separation or revolution is LESS THAN 15%!!!!!

The examples (all of them) he uses don’t have a structure. Unfortunately for Alberta, the Canadian government set a structure (a vague, malleable structure to serve the Federal Govt.’s interests). Essentially, the House of Commons defined the structured necessity to equal “a clear majority and a clear will of the people.” This, automatically, creates disagreement pushing an adverse relationship. Knowing how much revenue flows from Alberta, and how dependent the other Provinces have become on that revenue, do you really think “clear majority” and “clear will of the people” are going to be specified to reflect what the residents of Alberta think it should reflect? And, do you think “clear will of the people” will only be applied to residents of Alberta. I’d wager that clause was written so vaguely so as to include input from other provinces when establishing specific rules of secession.
Any departure by Alberta will be fought tooth and nail in the Courts. Liberal leaning Courts.
On another topic, I, also, think Alberta’s best move is to become a sovereign country. But, that’s going to require a Lease Act to gain access to sea ports. I just don’t see any of these efforts being allowed beyond hyperbole. Carney is going to make a lot of promises to Alberta to discourage secession. He won’t follow through on them, but all such promises need to do is create doubt among the residents of Alberta and slow the momentum.
But, that’s going to require a Lease Act to gain access to sea ports.
I’ve posted this multiple times before, but I’ll post it again. According to the very UN that these bastards hold so dearly to their hearts, landlocked countries must be allowed access to tidewater: https://www.un.org/depts/los/convention_agreements/texts/unclos/part10.htm
Or … you can use “The Putin Method” … and just take all the desired Black Sea Ports by military force. And watch President poopy pants acquiesce to the “minor incursion”.
Yeah, all that is needed to end the BS is to give Putin a warm water port in “little Russia”
Crimea river, crimea river, cuz I cried a river over you. Who sang that? Johnny Putin?
Separation wouldn’t necessarily be a court decision.
An independent Alberta would leave BC with only the Panama Canal as the means to access the ROC IF they didn’t accommodate Alberta’s continued egress to the Pacific. Canada would not militarily attempt to prevent Alberta’s separation any more than they would Quebec’s separation. If they tried, the US would intervene as they have no problem engaging in wars if Oil is involved. Alberta is the start. Saskatchewan and potentially most of BC would be interested in separating from the lower mainland and South Coast Eloi’s government who now work for the Chiefs and NGOs. Carney could prevent it all by abandoning his goals and erasing the legislative legacy of the Spawn-Fuhrer.
Yes
When you use the term separation the critics make the accusation the secessionists want to break up the country.
If the option on the ballot is rather than breaking with the current head of state Albertans want take Ottawa out of the equation the critics look stupid
It’ll NEVER happen!
How much money you willing to put on that? What odds are you offering? “NEVER” sounds like 100:1 to me. I got $20 that says “Yes”.
You sure?
Who said that?
The author’s examples are poorly chosen. He states, “It also shows how this process has unfolded; not all are violent. ”
Wrong. Nearly all of them were violent. We see this particularly in modern times. The supposedly peaceful Arab Spring was the direct cause of the hundreds of thousands who perished in the Syrian civil war and the millions of exiles. And when rebellions fail the repression is usually brutal. Just ask the thousands of dead at Masada during the Jewish-Roman wars of independence. During that 80 years of violence, there were at least two million fatalities and at least 200,000 Jews enslaved. This was in addition to the great diaspora in which millions of Jews were forcibly transported out of Judea to the rest of the Empire.
Ukraine unilaterally split from the Soviet Union because they had enough of being dictated to by Moscow.
Czechoslovakia split peacefully into Slovakia and the Czech Republic (They prefer to call it Czechia), after throwing out the Communists.
“A clear will and a clear majority of the people”.
What percentage of voters is required to change the Constitution of the big Federal Parties? Whatever is good enough for the Parties, should be good enough for a Province’s citizens.
50% plus one.
If 50% +1 is enough to flip a riding to the Liberals and give Carney a majority government, then it is enough for Alberta to separate. The end.
can Charlie still be the head of state? anyone from AB pull him aside yesterday and discretely ask that or related questions?
Did someone say “economics”? Is it indelicate of me to say I had another GIGANTIC day in the US Stock Market? After I BOUGHT, BOUGHT, BOUGHT the obvious artificially fabricated DIP in the Market to … make Trump look bad? What’s happened since that leftist institutional profit-taking “crash” of the market? UP UP UP!!!
Yes, I was cautioned and shouted down by farrrrrrrr smarter people than me here on SDA … geniuses who have predicted Trump’s FAILURE (repeatedly) … and Putin’s defeat (repeatedly) … and how the COVID lockdowns, masks, distancing, and vaccine SAVED us all from certain death …
Yes. I should have taken their sage advice and NOT bought the FAKE dip. The FAKE crashing of the US economy … ohhhhhhhhhhh mommmaaaaaaaa … I should have known Trump would destroy our democracy … and our markets or something.
All I know is that I’m UP 23% since early April … in boring old, safe, reliable Index Funds. Dang! I should have BOUGHT Tesla like I knew I should … because of robotics
horror of horrors, whatever else daon lit mizz jank arden get wind lol

I didn’t need to see that disgusting clip of that traitorous, low-talented, washed up singer’s rant on Alberta again.
Once is often enough.
Martin is brilliant, I used to subscribe to his weekly market report. He does know a lot about history. I live on Vancouver Island now, but from the prairies, best of luck to those in AB that want to go it alone, don’t blame you one bit.
Unification is what advocates in this place should call joining the US. Togetherness, unity, love, friendship, security, economic strength, affordable housing, cheaper groceries, freedom, opportunity, etc. etc…
Alberta as a petro-state? Saudi, Kuwait, and UAE would be green with envy. Same oil resources as them, but self-sufficient in water, most food, and labor. And in a much safer neighborhood. And the US would be tickled pink to recognize an independent Alberta.
To any who disagree, tell me what I am missing!
I was in an accommodating mood so I ordered his “report” “about Alberta” for $19.95. first I found those are You-ass dollars. Ok, no problem. Then I find I don’t get a report, I get a computer file. OK, it’s 2025. The report pops up, marked with my email address. It is poorly edited, and largely about ancient Greece and Rome. Eventually I get to the pathetically tiny bit about Alberta, but it’s 0430, so I shut my iPad down and get a few hours sleep. When I awake, the iPad has shut itself off, and the whole report has vanished.
Welcome to my $19.95 US, Mr Martin, and don’t expect me to be taken in by your horseshit again.
