My motto in my financial life has been “Don’t Spend Money You Do Not Have!”. It has stood me in good stead over the last 50 years. It saddens me that the Conservative Party are also spending money like crazy! Our debt is already at one billion in interest per week. Our youngest brother, an accountant, once said “It is all fun and games until no one will lend you money anymore”.

I’m think there should be a constitutional amendment requiring campaign promises to have a “by this date” attached to them, and a mandatory resign clause (and nullifying their pension as well..) attached to them for breaking that clause.

When I see non politicians, citizens obviously breaking the law, federal financial laws, laws put in place to do no more than simply control others for control’s sake … I look the other way.
Just need clauses stating that any year with a deficit does not count as a pensionable year for politicians and senior bureaucrats and one reducing politicians’ salaries by ten percent for every one percent deficit.
Deficits for the purpose of buying votes would be a thing of the past.
