There are a few skills that are hard-wired into the brains of infants that are so fundamental, and so critical for survival, that they’re operative from the moment of birth — if not sooner. One of them is pattern recognition, which is how infants recognize their mother’s faces. Even the youngest child is capable of matching a new stimulus with an event that’s previously established in their memory, and alter their behavior accordingly. Of course animals do the same thing.

But a funny thing happened to pattern recognition, starting around the middle of the last century. Pattern recognition transformed from a fundamental feature of human psychology to something far more sinister. To paraphrase the author Steve Sailer, a “war on noticing” commenced.

    This is not only wrong, it’s exactly wrong like everything else this idiot has to say. America’s crime rate did almost nothing but plummet from the ’90s onward with the COVID spike being pretty much reverse in a few years time. It was probably leaded gasoline.

    If we’re going into pattern recognition I think it’s time to remark that a very large portion of white Americans voted a racist who demonizes minorities into high office 2X.

      I don’t think Obama was an outright racist, but he certainly skirted the rim of ‘soft bigotry’ when it served his political purposes.. I suppose the same could be said about most of his fellow (D) grifters and hucksters, for that matter. I believe the color of his skin was the precise reason the bulk of the (D) minions voted for him tho.

  2. Violent crime started to fall from the peak year of 1992, leaded gasoline wasn’t banned until 1996 and though it takes points off an IQ, I’ve met plenty of non violent idiots in my life. They are separate measurements.

    If it’s possible to not look at this as a black/white American problem, I think Canada banned leaded gasoline in that same time era, yet Saskatchewan has had the highest violent crime rate in Canada for the past 25 years.

    I’m not going to suggest why this is, while the statistics of racial makeup can easily explain.

  4. I don’t agree that it’s acceptable to ignore significant data points in violent crime. If the citizens committing these crimes are of a certain color or race, others should be aware of that data.
    If crimes by left handed people were committed at 2x or 3x the rate as those normal people who are right handed, the same rules should apply and be freely available without having to say, “even though these crimes are overwhelmingly committed by left handed people, that doesn’t make them less of a human being”. I also think that gems such as having jail time reduced for certain colors people (or because they are left handed for example) is ridiculous.

    It doesn’t make people “racist” to notice that certain races commit these crimes far more frequently (20x ? holy moly) but forcing others to not notice or mention it, does its best to sweep that pertinent information under the rug.

    1. We’re always promised “granular” data … until that data becomes “inconvenient” … or could add to the predictable pattern recognition … see: Dr. Birx. … and Mike Pence (remember the COVID czar?)

      True. It’s also not racist to laugh at people who claim that blacks (in the US) and natives (in Canada) are “over-represented” in our respective prison systems. Sorry, No…they have *exactly* the representation that they deserve.

  5. Pattern recognition?

    So … now we’re told this incident of COLD BLOODED MURDER! was simply a dispute over a seat. The white boy must have asked “impolitely” for the noble, peaceful, “turning his life around”, black “student” to get out of his seat. So, you see, this really was a case of “self defense” as nobody elected that white boy to be seat monitor … right?

    I dare you to try the wrong seat scenario on your own. For instance: next time you’re on a crowded bus or train and see a black YOUTH sitting in seats reserved for the handicapped or elderly … politely ask the young black man to get up so the old chinese woman standing next to you can sit down. See what kind of “polite” response you get …

    Or say, I get up between innings to get a beer, return to my prime seat low on the 3rd base line and find a black YOUTH sitting in my seat. Can you predict his “polite” response? I can … which is why I’d not say a word to the YOUTH … but get the usher to do the dirty work. Why? Because I don’t want to get stabbed in the heart.

    Or say you’re standing in line to get into a restaurant and some black YOUTHS cut the line in front of you … are you gonna tell them that is anti-social behavior and go to the back of the line? Of course you won’t, because they’ll likely shoot you in the head for being “racist” or something an unman would claim.

    Yeah … a “dispute over a seat” … “self defense”. Unh huh.

  6. The more you reward bad behavior the more you are going to get it.. Its even worse if you romanticize it in music and culture.. We had it with the Al Capone gangsters, and they had to be put down with the gun and harsh jail sentences.. We are not doing that because of some misguided sense of racism.. And I’m supposed to warm to this situation?.. Crazy stuff..

  7. To further illustrate how this is working – there is actually a gofundme started to help with the black perps legal costs, despite gofundme explicit policy against providing funds to defend serious crime. As most of you recall, this included honking your horn in Ottawa.
