Beijing’s decision is final. Chiang stays.
No surprise here. Carney can't disqualify Paul Chiang because he's one of the 11 MPs on the interference report.
Chiang has so much dirt on the Liberals that he's blackmailing Carney.

Update for chewy new awkwardness:
Canada’s election threat monitoring body has confirmed that national party leaders received a classified security briefing late last week, as public concerns mount over threats tied to transnational repression and a widening controversy involving Liberal MP Paul Chiang’s remarks about Conservative candidate Joe Tay.
The revelation came Monday during a public update by the Security and Intelligence Threats to Elections (SITE) Task Force. Allen Sutherland, a senior Privy Council Office official and SITE leader, confirmed the briefing referenced today by Prime Minister Mark Carney covered high-level threat assessments and involved security-cleared representatives from each political party. While SITE would not confirm whether Chiang’s remarks were specifically addressed, the timing suggests they may have been a factor.

And yet the big story in Carney’s bought and paid for media is that the Conservative campaign is disorganized and a mess.
“Chiang has been a veteran policeman with over a quarter century of service” – I thought the chinese police stations operating in Canada were a more recent thing – guess not.
Maybe not quite the flex you thought that talking point was Mr Carney.
I’m guessing he was a bad cop, too.
That would be the logical assessment.
getting to be claims of service as a cop is NOT by default viewed as good.
Marx Carney is an electrifying speaker, gripping.
Fire in the belly. Inspiring.
Iggy style .
Hmmm…there seemed to be no problem disqualifying Chandra Arya.
Or Ruby Dhalla
Uh-huh. Having a Chinese Bounty Hunter MP is no big deal to Carney’s Liberal Party. Just like having Chinese government agents sending home dangerous viruses from a top level bio lab in Winnipeg was no big deal. Just like letting Chinese government police stations operate in Canada was no big deal. Other Chinese government operations in Canada that aren’t a big deal to the Liberal Party: money laundering, election interference, mortgage fraud, fentanyl, and giving big loans and political donations to Liberal MPs.
It’s like there’s some kind of subtle pattern of behavior that honest journalists might be able to pick up on. Y’know, if they were real investigative journalists looking to actually speak truth to power and protect democracy. /s
It’s part of being openminded and soulless.
“It’s part of being openminded and soulless.” The Canadian media or the Liberal Party?
IMO, both groups primary motivation is the same – $$$. The Liberal Party and their party VIPs get rich through various backroom transactions. Canadian journalists pretend not to see the obvious corruption because taxpayer bailout dollars (courtesy of the Liberal government) is obstructing their view. The Liberal Party and Canadian media have a cozy, mutually beneficial financial arrangement that is paid by Canadian taxpayers.
I would suggest that $$$ is not the primary motivation for these folks. It is power, yes money is a benefit but power allows one control of the goings on. It allows controlling people and resources. It allows pulling the levers and direction of the movers and the shaken. It allows rewarding those who are helpful. It allows the guiltless picking of wings off of the annoying. After all the lesser than they are nothing more than insects in perverse minds. As a side benefit there is $$$ but the real motivation are the endorphins released by having power. They are sick humans
True. Though I think in politics and corporations money and power go hand in hand, inseparable conjoined twins.
For the media it’s probably just the money. Their power is limited in the age of digital communication and technology. Traditional media is one paycheck away from bankruptcy and breadlines.
Wasn’t there some Chinese military training somewhere in Canada? Trudeau was embarrased and miffed that this became public?
Yep, The Liberal government also sent Canadian supplies of PPE to China at the start of covid and “partnered” with them on a covid vaccine deal that magically was never spoken of again. The list of odd dealings with China goes on and on but only a handful of independent journalists (not taxpayer funded via the Liberal government) can make the obvious connections.
If the Chinese government has leverage in Carney then the pattern of foreign interfence during the Trudeau Liberal government will continue under Carney. Important to note that the leverage of damning information isn’t just used by China. That same information can be used to extort money by other countries who also have that damning information. Is that type of info why Canadian taxpayers send 10s (100s?) of billions of dollars to foreign governments and foreign corporations under ridiculously expensive grants and ‘investments”? Is the knowledge of this type of information one reason why Trump and other foreign governments want Carney to win? To receive billions of dollars from Canadian taxpayers and have the power to control the Canadian economy by demanding policies like shackling our natural resource projects and infrastructure.
Carney has been installed as PM for a couple weeks and so far no one is really vetting his conflicts of interest or other vulnerabilities.
Of course the Communist Party of China has control over Carney Man. Just as they have had control over the Lieberal Party ever since Chrétien. They sold their souls and our lives to the CPC
And Lord forbid that we be ‘taken over’ by an American government!!
Chinese…meh.
Mark Carney, Xi Jinping’s man in Ottawa. I wonder, should he win the election, if Comrade Carney will halt the F-35 contract and opt for the fabulous J-36, which I have designated the “Little Potato” after China’s greatest overseas agent.
Should he win, it might be a good idea to invest in CCTV, as China has about 700 million currently installed and Canada will follow suit. Remember, cameras are cheap, cops are expensive, and cameras don’t take bribes or sick days.
Not the cameras but those monitoring them still do.
well. that didnt take long to pop its head up.
imagine 4,8, 10 years of this? TURDeau wd be proud.
There is a reason that our Canadian ancestors passed laws to keep the Chinese out. And racism had nothing to do with it.
On the bright side, Carney is very clearly telling Washington who owns and runs Canada.
肘部向上!
An honest Lieberal campaign would use this format for lawn signs.

“We’re witnessing corruption right before our eyes.”
aaaaaaaand…
…a significant plurality of Canadians seem perfectly fine with it.
What a ridiculous little people. A ridiculous, inconsequential little people.
Carney: “I view this as a teachable moment.”
https://www.westernstandard.news/news/person-of-integrity-carney-defends-liberal-who-wanted-to-turn-in-conservative-candidate-to-ccp/63581
He is correct that this is a teachable moment.
“China rules.”
“Doesn’t matter what Libs do, the media will be onside. And the voters will buy it.”
“Laws do not apply to Liberals.”
“You thought the last 10 years were arrogant and one-sided? You ain’t seen nothin yet.”
Yep…lots to learn.
He learned that line from The Turd.
It’s not corruption. It’s accommodating a valued partner in Canadian democracy.
When they write a book about how evil they are, you have to believe them.
Watching the liberal media make up stuff via the Conservatives are infighting and can’t keep on message based on anonymous sources-the voices in their liberal heads is rather funny. Have we become a new province for the Chinese, because it feels like they are calling all the political shots?
That’s why we cant be the 51st state, we’re already the 24th province of China.
Taiwan 23; Chinada, 24. So that’s why NZM (Net Zero Man) wore 24 when he “skated with the Oilers”?
“Former York police sergeant and Liberal Paul Chiang mingles with Weng Guoning at a Fujian Commerce Association of Canada event with disgraced MPP Vincent Ke and Chinese diplomats. Guoning is suspected of running overseas police stations and meets United Front officials in China.”

I’m going to guess that Chiang isn’t beholden to Communist China. It’s more likely his is beholden to Islam. His family came from Pakistan. His grandparents emigrated to Pakistan likely because of religious persecution in mainland China. His wife, also, comes from a Chinese family that emigrated to Pakistan. Believe it or not there are nearly 100,000 Chinese in Pakistan at the moment.
No tickey, no blarney.
A well regulated Alberta militia,
sent to relieve Canadians,
from Ottawa.
Disgraceful ! I expect more from an unelected carpetbagging Prime Minister than what Mark ChiCom has produced to date.
