Buyer Of Last Resort

Having the government buy a bunch of cars will fix everything, I’m sure.

Carney, speaking to a televised press conference in Windsor, Ontario, also said his government would work with industry to build more car parts in Canada and limit the number of parts that cross the border with the United States during production.

When it came to buying official vehicles for official business, a Liberal government would focus on buying autos that were made in Canada, he added.

  1. Carney said that somehow, someone would do something to prevent auto parts from crossing the border into US production factories, preserving some jobs in Canada, but could provide no details as to what the somehow, or someone, or something would be. Well, done, Carnage. This is the political equivalent of hope as a strategy. Don’t know how it’s going to happen, but we have high hopes, short on detail or ideas.

  2. Yes, this is much more cost effective than securing our border and enforcing our drug laws. Morons…

    1. These guys really don’t get it, do they? They’re the “adult” equivalents of the rebellious kid that will do absolutely anything except clean up his room as his mom requested, even if it means being grounded for a month, giving up computer time, and standing out in the rain screaming at the clouds.

Pride, the original and blackest sin. Pride corrodes the soul and makes one very unwise. And poor.

  3. How big of an entourage is this guy going to have? Official government vehicles will have to stretch for miles in order to make just the slightest bit of difference. Will this massive entourage be driving him home to his family in New York?

What a frickin’ clown… he’s just as embarrassing to this place as that idiot Trudeau…

  4. Carnage has stated that his desire is to be more like the EU.

Will he be buying more vehicles which are EU manufactured? Mercedes, Volvo, Audi, VW, Peugeot, Aston Martin, Rolls-Royce, Bently, Jag (for the lavender croud, doncha know?)? Where will those parts come from? How much will it cost in fossil fuels to import them and their parts? Unicorns will be employed shortly, I surmise.

  5. Carneys goal is to destroy Canadas economy and sovereignty and culture. This is why Libs escalated this issue as quickly as possible – and blame it all on Trump.

All the better to bring UBI (Bill S233) in more quickly. Then we will need some “loans” from the IMF to help us “pull through”.

Would be nice if we had a robust and mature international business for our hydrocarbons.

  6. Hey, there, Evil InCarneyate, that idea will require the use of steel, but who uses steel, eh, you stupid global ghoul.

  7. (((his government would create a C$2 billion ($1.40 billion) fund to boost the auto sector’s competitiveness.)))

Who wants to make a bet? Step right up…don’t be shy. Almost immediately upon Carney popping up in the public eye he said he would switch from “carbon taxes” to subsidies (as if they weren’t exactly the same thing…taxes). One of the industries he mentioned was the EV market.

I bet this $2 Billion (Canadian) is nothing more than a subsidy program described as something else. Subsidies to the consumer. Subsidies to the manufacturers (cell batteries mostly).

The guy is absolutely obsessed with climate change…so it makes sense that one of his first acts would be related.

  8. I thought Carney wanted to get rid of gas cars through the Carbon Tax.

Doesn’t make sense unless he is lying.

    Oh there its that !!!!

  9. Now, if only Jughead would show up to a Unifor meeting in something other than a Maserati or BMW! Now that would be some real progress!

  10. So they plan to give $2 billion dollars to “Project Arrow” to build a limited product run of up to 50,000 demonstrator electric vehicles, despite having no experience with manufacturing a vehicle at scale?

  11. Some intrepid reporter should ask him what type and how many automobiles he owns.
I’ll bet it they’re not Buicks.
