    Hardly. Despite the massive Democrat-induced problems in California, it remains an economic powerhouse driving tech innovation for the whole planet. Meanwhile Canada’s productivity has fallen from 95% of the US level to about 60% in a remarkably short time (roughly, during the Trudeau years). We may very well soon elect Trudeau on steroids, and push the economic flight yoke even further — putting Canada into a screaming dive that we will be unable to correct even if eventually Conservatives do get power.

    1. Agree. If Carney gets in we’re leaving. I have often laughed at people who have threatened to leave if Trump got in but we’re serious. Under Trudeau and especially during COVID life has become increasingly scary in Canada. Also my wife is a Jew and in Canada antisemitism is being accepted and encouraged and outright HAMAS support is widely tolerated and supported by police and our government. We have almost left a couple of times already but not it’s for real.

      1. Canadians have lost any sense of independence. I suspect that it left after Stanfiwld lost but maybe rugged individualism and independence are not part of our DNA. How anyone can even consider or contemplate vote for the Liberals or the NDP is beyond me. But I fear the worst and we get another Liberal lead government. Even the “intelligent” people that I talk with are all supporting Carney because he a worldly and a banker and will save Canada. I have be child out and one I am trying to get a job in the US. Then only one to go. After that I’m going. Act accordingly and prepare to leave. Just sayin.

        If your serious about leaving Canada you should move to Alberta, and leave Team Canada with it’s EU handlers all together.

  3. Has there been any discussion with Carney re:
    several years ago the EU classified natural gas as a green energy source and can Canada expect the same here?

    1. Don’t forget Jerry Moonbeam Brown’s FOUR terms as Governor … ruining this State for 16 years, 5 days … the 4th longest term of a Governor in US History. Jerry set us on this path, and then solidified California’s dystopian future over his unprecedented (and IMHO) illegal 4-terms as Gov.

      It was Jerry Brown who redirected CalTrans and their budget from road building and repair … because “that would only encourage more automobile use” … into mass transit and “high speed” trains that can’t seem to appear despite $Billions thrown down that rathole.

      Brown will go down in history as the arsonist who burned down California

  5. I have cousins (aged early 70-s) in California who will never leave. But they have kids in Seattle who are seriously considering moving to Canada (having dual citizenship) but NOT back to California.

  6. Let me add that VDH just … BRILLIANTLY … summarized the CA malaise. And let me add that as a licensed professional involved in the construction industry … it has become a total shitshow. I cannot adequately tell you just how much our “infrastructure” has degenerated. And by infrastructure … I am including all government employees… in addition to our crumbling roads. It’s disgusting.

    Post-COVID … our local County building dept. went from a joy to deal with, staffed by veterans who understood construction and knew what to scrutinize and what to let go. They all retired at COVID. The offices were shut down and now all contact is e-contact with people who have NO CLUE how to do their jobs. They are all now petty bureaucrat functionaries. They don’t know their own Planning and Building codes … and I literally cannot schedule a face-to-face meeting with any of them. Just an e-bureaucrat wasteland of repeated missives … for example: I am working on a ridiculously modest, one-story, 340 sq.ft. one-bedroom, remodel, for a neighbor down the street. We filed for building permit on Dec. 23, 2024 … and we still dont have a permit. And I can’t “go into” their office … physically … humanly … and get answers as to why?? I’ve never seen anything like this in all my 50 years of practice. This State is in total systemic decay. Utter decay … from the inside (government) to the outside (homeless encampments and illegal shanty towns).
