Suicide Nation

Not surprisingly, the Canadian Labour Congress is proposing national bankruptcy as a way to deal with Trump. That should only take about a week to play out.

Cutting off U.S. access to critical Canadian resources—including electricity, lumber, critical minerals, oil, and gas—until the tariffs are lifted.

Naturally, it includes a plea for another pandemic style spending spree:

The federal government has taken a first step by considering income supports for affected workers—an approach that helped stabilize our economy during the pandemic.

  1. Do you have any idea how many Canadians agree with this? The fact it’s an idea at all is testament to the stupidity of this nation. But we’re going to show them, all right…

  2. Why doesn’t the gov’t just deal with the issues, immigration and Drug flow! Nope, Trump bad, so we will throw a snit

    1. This is why “labour” is labour and not running a company and should never run a country. Then again, none of the prospective or present leaders of this country are any better.

    2. ” Why doesn’t the gov’t just deal with the issues ”
Because the Liberal Party of Canada has a general election to win,,, and campaigning against Trump, is how they do it. The timing of the prorogue of government, the length and timing of the LPC leadership race, the team Canada,,, that has all been planned since Trump was elected.
The Liberal Party and the Canadian Media( I repeat myself) have such a desire to repeat the Kamala rally, only this time they think they’ll get it right and not let The Turd (Kamala) slip in popularity, like what happened in the U.S. general.

  3. Yank here. And I love y’all. Fond memories of Canadians and my times in Canada.

This won’t go away until Trudeau is no longer in office. This is personal between Trump and Trudeau. IF y’all wanna wait for pensions to vest and the election in fall, great, but this will go on until Trudeau is gone. Trudeau spent 9 years prancing around doing “Trump is stupid” and “Trump is evil” liberal stuff, and now Trump is back in town.

    1. Exactly right. This is about Justin Trudeau. Trump despises him for being a liar and having no principles whatsoever. (Also likely for being a shill for the PRC.)

Trump and the Washington establishment are simply waiting until the LPC are out of power and they can negotiate with a Canadian government that can actually function. This means Parliament needs to be in session and capable of legislating.

    2. I had a feeling this is the case.
There will be some validation on the day he leaves the office of PM.
If on that day Trump gives a signal then it’s confirmed that the cause of rancour was because we needed to remove an irritant.
If not then it’s for the reasons Trump cited.
Then again it could be a combination of the actor and his actions.

  4. Canada’s economy is one tenth the size of the US. If the US cuts us off, they may notice, but we’ll go under. Beggars can’t be choosers and Canada is a nation of beggars.

  5. Cut off oil and power to the US? Bring it on. It would end this country as we know it.

I’ve always wanted to see a US invasion of this country, and that would be a National Security priority for them. The US would secure each location as necessary, without opposition. And there is nothing to stop it. Just a lot of wailing and gnashing of leftist teeth. It wouldn’t be war, just securing what they’re paying for.

Careful what you wish for, lefties.

    1. Why would Mr “no more wars” Trump invade after he’s said the US doesn’t need Canadian oil, gas, minerals, or electricity?

          1. The US would strategically invade the pipeline nodes, hydro facilities, etc, and hold them. With military.
National Security needs. Hostile national owned by the CCP.
            Suck it Joe.

          2. DanBC

            National security? Laugh!

Trumpy said Canada has nothing the US needs. Are you saying Trump is lying?

          3. Joe, what Trumps wants is a secure Arctic and secure Arctic shipping lanes against any possible encroachment by Russia or China, something they have already done in international waters and waters under the jurisdiction of other countries.

Russia has done it in Norweigan waters and China in the South China Sea.

          4. Lupus

Why does Trump need secure Arctic shipping lanes?

Why ship Americas exports or imports via the Arctic Ocean? Much cheaper via Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.

By sticking to the Atlantic or Pacific, Russian and Chinese nuclear subs can currently travel underwater much closer to the US than if they travel via the Arctic Ocean.

    2. They wouldn’t have to invade us.
Just close all points of entry to non-commercial travel.
Imagine all those spring break revellers having to slum it with the rest of the plebs.

I wonder how the centre of the universe is going to feel when all flights out of Toronto international have to reroute outside of US airspace?

    3. Well, first of all, the feds can’t cut off oil. It belongs to the province and there are ways to deal with federal overreach. Second, the leftist idiots don’t seem to understand that grids run both ways. And for example, B.C. actually had to IMPORT about 25% of their electricity and most of that came from the U.S.

Furthermore, trying to cut off oil to the U.S. will only stop oil from going UP to Ontario refineries. These “labour” people are unbelievably stupid. They are Luddites.

    4. Have any of you wondered why your elitist betters keep pushing this “America is going to militarily invade Canada.” trope?
      Who benefits from this?

We may send teams in as part of the Joint Strike Force — which your leaders agreed to — in order to flush out your cartels, but that should be a benefit for your citizens. But why would we go to the trouble and expense of invading when we likely can wait your government out? You get your act together and give us better terms, and we will be happy with that; it’s a win. You insist upon continuing down the path you are on and your country will disintegrate; many will ask us to take them aboard; that’s also a win although a far more risky proposition as there are always going to be segments of your country that will continue to be a security threat.

The only reason we would invade Canada is if some of your citizens, aided and abetted by your government (and that could just mean harboring them), commits an overt act of war against us. That would be supremely stupid, and would likely also lead to a breakup of your country but in a way that would be far more harsh.

The best option would be to go for the first option, but then we come back to why your government seems to be obsessed with messaging some version of the first. ??

    1. That’s what the Canadian Labour Congress wants.

They figure massive economic hardship translates into NDP votes/governments.

I’m not saying the CLC makes sense, merely stating what’s in the left’s playbook.

  6. One word…
    Deindustrialization.
That’s what I think is just a part of the government’s overall and deliberate strategy to enslave us.
The turd has got to go NOW!

    1. No,I can live with Trudeau, until the next election, but Carney may convince the nervous Left, who comprise about 70% of the voters, do vote him into the PMO.

  7. Trudeau, Carney, Freeland, Singh, they aren’t the problem with Canada. It’s the people that voted them into power. They are the problem with Canada. Some of them are too stupid to understand the endpoint of socialism and I’m sure that lots of them (like Carney himself) don’t give a rat’s butt about running Canada into the ground because this isn’t their home. This is a welfare state for them to rape until it’s dead. Politicians and bureaucrats are all to happy to let it happen because they’re taking their substantial cut of everything that goes out the door too.

And if Polly changes any of that in any meaningful amount I’ll eat my hat.

    1. The good thing is if he doesn’t, the country fails, one way or another this socialist shithole is done for without radical Milie style surgery. If it fails, 90% chance, something better may come from the ashes. At least the Laurentian Elite will be done for.

    2. There was a quote from 2012 that the US could survive Obama; what it couldn’t survive was an electorate that would return him to office a second time. I think the same applies here. Canada can survive a Trudeau Liberal government; it can’t survive an electorate that keeps returning them to power.

I’ve said a number of times there are only two paths forward for Canada, Chile or Venezuela. And we have no Pinochet waiting in the wings.

  8. watched a YT vid about Karl Marx and his Engles buddy.
apparentl a lifetime sponger. not surprisingly a deplorable parent.
das kapital sold a few copies first time out.
now half the godam globe thinks hes an economic linchpin.

  9. Gov’t “income supports for affected workers—an approach that helped stabilize our economy during the pandemic.”
Yep…stabilize our economy. Few things are more stable than a corpse in a coffin. Staaaay Bull.

  10. This was Trump’s biggest (and possibly only) mistake. Underestimating the stupidity of Trudeau to choose national economic suicide instead of the far cheaper and easier option of border security.

    And half of Canadians agree.

    This country is doomed.

  11. We need a right-to-work law in Canada, making membership in unions optional. Half the states in the US have right-to-work. You know, the ones where all the jobs are.
