It turns out that the Canadian government, under the Trudeau Liberals has also funnelled over a million dollars to Politico, across multiple departments, including:

$161,409.98 from Environment and Climate Change Canada (yes, that’s the actual name of Canada’s National Weather Service)
$176,953.58 from Natural Resources Canada
a whopping $986,072.89 from Global Affairs Canada

In all, $1,636,084.92 across five government agencies and 44 contracts since the Liberals came to power in 2015.

The contracted services range from “subscriptions” to “printed materials” and “database access” – several of them were non-competitively, single sourced contracts for over $100,000.

This massive document (390 pages) lists all of the Transfer Payments made in the fiscal year for a total of $270 billion. Definition: “A transfer payment is a grant, contribution or other payment made by the Government for which no goods or services are received.”
    One problem is that this listing includes payments under statutory programs such as pensions and health care. But for the first time, statutory programs are denoted by a small “S” at the top of the section.
    As to the myriad other programs, it is qualitatively the same as the USAID scandal unfolding in the US: lots of money being given away. Even the big banks are in on it, although CIBC seems to be the big porker at the trough.
    Balance the budget? Stop every one of these free give-aways, and fire the staff which doles out the cookies from the cookie jar. Between the manglement and staff, and the CRA , each one of the freebie dollars probably costs over $1.25 in taxation damage to the taxpayer.
    We know that the Libranos and the Nutty Delusional Party will do nothing about this, but Pierre P. WILL YOU DO SOMETHING.
