Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Chinese drug money laundering through BC casinos and real estate:
“Sam Cooper’s groundbreaking 2021 book, Wilful Blindness: How a Network of Narcos, Tycoons and CCP Agents Infiltrated the West, details the “Vancouver Model” of transnational crime, revealing how Chinese state actors, intelligence operatives, and tycoons linked to triads have exploited British Columbia’s casinos and real estate markets to launder billions in drug proceeds, including fentanyl, while infiltrating political and corporate networks to advance Beijing’s interests.”

I DO appreciate the concern about China, but as a HUGE history/geography nerd, I think the Chinese have many problems, the chief one being that for every woman, there are at least 2 men (because of the one child policy). Our father also thought that because of the excess male population, China would not hesitate to start wars as they would have the manpower. However, many of the men are now in their 50’s (if they were born in the early 1970’s, they are in their early 50’s). They have formed NO families and many take care of elderly parents.
Further, having been in design/construction, I am NOT impressed with the quality of work from Chinese contractors OR engineers. I think this is why the Chinese government is so eager to steal intellectual property from the western democracies. They know that they are on a downward path. Sadly, the Chinese can do a lot of damage in the next 20-50 years.
L – Sun-Tzu – “An evil man will burn his country to the ground in order to rule over the ashes.”
Unfortunately, that applies to the political elite in Canada, formerly Great Britain, the European Union, as well as China. On the plus side, a growing populist resistance to the political elite’s policy of Suicidal Empathy is a healthy sign. To be continued…
I concur that the Chinese tiger is a paper one, at least when it comes to its army. There’s also the Little Emperor Syndrome: since there’s only one male child to carry on the family name, that child is spoiled rotten by multiple generations and grows up to be a complete self-centered brat. Not a personality conducive to good military discipline.
But then China doesn’t fight that way. They engage in espionage, subversion, bribery, economic warfare, everything but putting men in the field in harm’s way. All of that will only get worse as the cracks in the foundation become too big to ignore.
Turns out there weren’t enough spoiled children of wealthy Communist Party Oligarchs to take up residency in Hongcouver? That one-child policy has consequences.
Eby’s problem catch 22:
1. Missed PST tax revenue of purchased condo?
2. No property tax of empty condos no owner?
3. Missed tax of absentee owner, unit empty.
Don’t disagree that China isn’t the military force they project, but i’m not sure the one child policy is well understood. It wasn’t that you could only have one child. It was that the Government would only support 1 child per family (education, health etc), any other child would have to be paid for by the family. If you were well off you could have as many kids as you could afford.
