Fifty years ago I knew a Melville Millionaire. He didn’t seem all that wealthy.
If, like me, you have no idea where Melville is, drive to the middle of nowhere, Saskatchewan (yes, Regina) and head east-northeast on Highway 10 for about 145 km. If you hit Yorkton, you dodged a bullet. The town was named after Charles Melville Hays, president of the Grand Trunk Railway (not the band), a man who went down aboard the Titanic. With nearly 4,200 residents, Melville was never featured on Hee Haw.
