Common Sense Wisdom from a Canadian Fellow

Watch the polls though. It seems that a large number of Canadians are fully against Trump and supporting the Lieberals. Trudeau & Carney would rather accelerate the ship towards the iceberg, rather than change anything with the way the country is being governed.

  1. One could write thousands of sensible logical words on what and why we are where we are, in fact it has been done, Canadians however refuse to read or see what they have allowed in their country. The problems will continue with zero adequate response, I used to care, not so much anymore.

    1. Polls are done to influence not inform anymore.
I refer to this refusal to see the obvious as typical Canadian pretentiousness.
We have been conditioned to perceive the world as being the reasonable and compassionate ones and therefore the better Americans.
      The DEI of nations
The reality is none of the other countries paid much attention unless it was good press and the US has just tolerated it until now.
Time to grow up and get serious.

    2. VOWG —your words are my thoughts exactly!
Danielle Smith has an Article on National Post that is a must read–she has become the LEADER that Canada has been missing!
” Danielle Smith: How Team Canada Can Overcome Trump tariffs”

      1. I still think that the TIME for Saskatchewan and Alberta to leave is now but if Danielle Smith’s ideas take hold Canada could still have merit!

    3. I feel the same. The other day, I had a conversation with a retired nurse at Costco. One of the first questions she asked was, “What do you think of Mark Carney?” After all the destruction that the LPC has done to this country, she is still thinking about voting for the LPC, as she described herself as a “Strong independent woman.” It was so depressing

    4. Trump just announced on Truth Social a deal with Mexico’s President — which is averting the tariffs on them. “Justatwit” could have done the same. And probably still could if he weren’t such a jerk. / And Mexico is putting 10000 troops on the border to help stop people and drugs crossing

  2. We can talk about diversifying our trade to reduce our dependency on the Americans all we want but there is an objective truth that no one ever seems to remember, sending our products to any other country involves a lengthy and expensive ocean voyage and we don’t have the domestic merchant marine capability to limit those expenses and keep that portion of economic activity at home. The US will always be our largest trading partner because they’re the only one that we can get to easily and cheaply.

Starting a trade war with your biggest customer because you’re too ideologically bound and corrupt to enforce your own laws is a stupid way to die.

    1. Very salient observation and comment in conclusion. We live in a VERY complicated world with more moving parts than the average citizen (of either country) can comprehend … or even want to TRY to comprehend. And yet they vote. They vote in a state of utter ignorance.

The only way anything will change is when total economic collapse bites them in the ass. If Canada believes it can persist as a welfare nation spending themselves into a completely worthless dollar … have at it. Just don’t come running to America begging to save you. Your country … your choice.

As you can see … American voters SAW what happens when elections are stolen by nefarious unseen entities and spend America into oblivion. We The Voters put an end to that. MAGA BABY … MAGA!!!

  3. From an American, I hope that this gets settled quickly. The Canadians I have met and done business with are fine people and as a native Mainer I have met quite a few. We have nothing but affection for the people of Canada.

While it is true that our own WEF puppets have created little hell holes in our country – Lewiston, Maine and Minneapolis, Minnesota come to mind – we feel we must move against those who use censorship and murder to advance their hateful ideologies. Since we catch about 10% of the drugs coming in, this means perhaps 3,150 terrorists got through, which we cannot ignore even though we have our own sources of violent religious bigotry. I hope Poilievre or someone like him will be able to take control so we can sit down together as friends and address the mutual problems we face. I don’t think having a significant population of antisemitic violent religious extremists in Toronto, Montreal, or Minneapolis benefits either country.

Both our countries used to require that immigrants learn the language as a first step towards assimilation. More importantly, we used to demand assimilation – that immigrants come here because they want to be like us, not because they want to change us. I hope that we, together, can bring those customs back.

    God bless you, Canada.

    1. Very true, FT.

If Trudeau goes, and a non-globalist replaces him, the threat to the US goes with him, and Trump’s tone will likewise change completely.

The US can’t tolerate a red Chinese outpost on its border.

      1. Yep. The Canadian government has 11 MP’s and 13 staffer that are compromised by the CCP…and we still don’t know who they are.

      2. Do you believe Trump would rather deal with Christia Freeland, should she become PM? Trump also knows that Carney (and his wife) are grifters and is more that aware that Carney and his brilliance in economics nearly bankrupted the British economy while he was at the Bank of England. The common man in Britain loathe the name of Carney.

If I were a betting man, I would be inclined to believe that there is much malice and plotting within the LPC, that this whole proroguing, leadership race and trade war is a tool in the destruction of Canada as a nation, following the line from the script of us being a post-nation-state.

        1. Carney was also responsible for the near 0% interest rates in Canada, that is at least partially responsible for the current issues.

    2. With ya Foggy. I live in a border state and have many friends in Canada — Canada is a great country and I hope this settles soon. The phrase “rule over ashes” resonates — the people at the top have no fears, their kids will go to the best schools, they will drink the best beer and wines even if this dust up continues. Just like here in the states — the people of Canada need to honestly assess if the people running the show are truly acting in the interest of the people that pay for their comfort and largess.

    1. I read it Cansco. Then i read it to my wife. All the comments here and elsewhere seem to miss the point of what may be happening. Rueschel really struck a cord. The essay should be required reading for every Canadian ( i know, in my dreams). The take away for me is this. It is too late for CA, our politicians are globalist Agenda21 WEF acolytes, so there will be no huge about face on policy here.
Trump is holding out an olive branch, grab it and prosper, thumb our noses and be left in the cold. I truly hope AB and SK are given the choice to become the 51st state AND we accept. Otherwise we become Venezuela with snow, or worse.

  4. The last time Trump imposed tariffs China and other importing countries saw their currencies devalued and they managed to maintain their US market share more or less but with lower prices.

The result: the US dollar rose in value and consumer prices south of the border remained more or less the same

Now, it’s deja vu all over again:

    https://x.com/bennyjohnson/status/1886171644877541882

    1. disagree, this is retaliation and if something does not work — something they will shall go in its place. Trump is absolutely tearing it up, Biden’s impotency has been placed on full display with illegal immigration dropping like a rock and criminals being evicted from our shores. Venezuela, Colombia, Panama — steamrolled. The intention of the tariffs is not economic — it is punishment and pain.

      1. The point of my post is that the punishment and pain is for others, not the Yanks, despite all the doomsayers saying the US economy will take a major hit.

    2. Doesn’t help that Canada has been printing money for the last 5 to 10 years, and continues to do so.

      1. And that Castreau sold off nearly all our gold reserves to the world. Like I said earlier, this is a planned destruction of Canada.

Our resources are monumental, but the LPC have now ensured that they are fire sale prices to the highest bidder. The CCP Dragon and India are hovering like the vultures they are.

      2. We’ve been printing money since Carney was at the controls. It’s just accelerated like a rocket since Trudeau took over.

  5. I think the events of the last few days will result in permanent tensions between the two countries. I was as pro-American as you could get. On a scale of 1-10, I’d have rated my a 9 – very pro-American. After this weekend, that has dropped to a 3. Kinda awkward as I’m married to an American and my brother has dual citizenship.

It’s not the tariffs because trade wars flare up from time to time. I follow quite a few America Republican accounts on X. The reaction of regular Americans towards all Canadians, even conservatives provinces, was a viscous and dehumanizing “Othering”. As if we are a subhuman enemy that needs to be completely destroyed. Not a good look and one I’ll never forget. I’m still fond of Americans in North Dakota and Montana but not so much other Americans.

As a separatist, I’m not pro-Canada either. But it has solidified my opinion that Alberta and Saskatchewan need to be independent of both countries.

      1. Turning allies into enemies is not a great strategy but it is what it is. Other than going to Oklahoma for an in-law family obligation, I doubt I’ll be making any other trips to the US for the foreseeable future.

        1. As per CSIS and the RCMP, our parliament is riddled with folk compromised by the CCP. That makes us an enemy.

          1. I think it’s important to differentiate between governments and people. I personally always try to avoid attacks on individuals and instead focus on the bigger political picture, not always successfully. Perhaps I need another long break from political issues and political commentary. Too many extreme personality types to be able to have thoughtful, polite discussions.

        2. You haven’t been the best ally as of late, truth be told.
Kudos to you for seeing that it is indeed what it is.
I would suggest not taking it too personally — it is what it is after all. Sometimes you roll the hard six.

    1. Well, LC, (may I call you “LC?”)
You should read what Canadians think of Americans. The arrogance of Canadians thinking that they’re “Not American” to the point that they ridicule everything American (despite Canadians — note: I’m referring “Canadians” as third-person, because I no longer see myself as a Canadian — consuming everything American, from their products, to their culture, to their entertainment) is quite bothersome, to say the least.

So that road is a two-lane highway with traffic going in both directions.

      1. I think you’re missing the point. If Canadians like myself who actually were very pro-American are having second thoughts then this sentiment could profoundly affect the next election. If the Conservative Party loses the election then, somewhat ironically, it will be because of American Republicans and their voters. Hope I’m wrong but I could see this being the result.

I suspect that Trump saying that he was going to tariff Canada even if they cracked down on the drug trade and the border was another problem. The drug and border issue resonated with conservative voters in Canada.

        1. I’ll take your point that American republicans may ironically sabotage PP’s chances of winning the next election (if we have an election), and submit that if Canadians fall for the turd’s ploy, then this country deserves what it gets, good and hard, and American republicans should not feel any guilt about Canada’s demise.

    2. LC you must have already switched to drinking Canadian booze instead of American. I used to think your previous posts were spot on. But the one today shows you have been brain washed. Canadians want to become the Mexico of North America. Why do we hate Americans; Americans who have been really nice to us? Because too many Canadians believe the hateful lies of the Lieberals and MSM. Canada is too blame, not Trump. If you can’t see that then you have joined the majority of brain dead Canadians.

      1. I’m not much of a drinker although I do brew a fairly good homemade rhubarb wine.

I guess it’s possible that I could be brainwashed. Then again, it’s also possible that I actually read what American Republicans were saying and was disgusted by their attacks, which were just as disgusting as Canadians attacks on Americans. I’m not sure why this has surprised me since, as happened during covid, human nature reverts to tribalism under stress. Insulting me personally as “brain dead” is a good example of this type of behavior.

Anyway this should have been and could have been managed better by politicians and citizens on both sides of the border.

        1. Pres Trump is standing up for the USA. Standing up to all those who have taken advantage (like Canada, China and Europe) of the USA for too long. You have been insulted by your own Liberal minded thinking. I am continually impressed by Pres Trump attempting to fix the rot that exists in his own country and the world. I can only dream of someone in Canada to do the same. But left wing voting lunatics in Canada won’t have it.

          1. Well now Canada has a 30 delay on tariffs. Has Canada the will and resources to meet Pres Trump’s concerns about this corrupt country? Interesting that all those who switched sides these last few days have mud on their face today. Shameful. Shameful.

        2. You’re not brainwashed. You’re raising an interesting point. I just want everyone to realize that Canadians feel as lowly about Americans as Americans feel about Canadians.

It does look like Canadians, like Mexicans, have been granted a reprieve. Thank goodness, but I see PP in a different light, and I hope PP understands how much political capital he has lost as a result of his position on retaliatory tariffs.

    3. The vitriol is aimed at the Chicom LIEberal party.
Take step back from the ledge, social media overindulgence can have that effect.
But you have to agree, we are surrounded by many Canadians, small minded with tunnel vision of their socialist nirvana, that deserve all that vitriol

  6. With the Canadian $ is dropping it will come to the point where Canada will not be able to meet its debt payments and in turn Trudeau will HAVE to get the border secured and whatever else is required.
    This wont last long!!

    1. ” in turn Trudeau will HAVE to get the border secured and whatever else is required.”

      Yeah? Who’s gonna make him?
The Supremes aren’t going to rule on Parliament being prorogued until Feb. 14.

    2. It’ll last long enough. Long enough to finally put this slowly sinking ship under water. Trust me on that.

  7. “andrew Perez
The Trump tariff and resulting Canada-U.S. trade war might just be the black swan event that resuscitates federal Liberal fortunes allowing the party to hold Poilievre’s Conservatives to a minority gov’t this spring/next fall *or possibly even eek out a minority Liberal gov’t themselves*

Many will call me crazy for merely expressing this thought, but these are truly unprecedented times and stranger things have happened in our history, no doubt”

    1. Andrew, I agree. There is a grassroots movement against anything U.S. starting up. Trudeau is siding with fentanyl, human smuggling and our decrepit military staying decrepit. Happy days at the PMO and CBC. The Conservatives only have a 50-50 chance of getting to power.

      1. And the TDS is strong!
The hatred for Trump turns into votes for the WEF Libs.
        I am not hopeful.

    2. Andrew… if you can, read my feature comment posted by Robert only a few days ago.
I’ve been saying for a long time now that if the turd resigns, you’ll see the cons’ lead evaporate. You’ll see the trend changing slowly at first, then accelerate after Carney has been coronated as the first unelected PM in the country’s history.

The lie-beral party voters aren’t sophisticated enough to fully understand what CT Carnage truly represents. PP had better come up with a new strategy quickly. I don’t think people are going to buy the “just like Justin” argument. The polling numbers for the cons is very soft. People are only voting for PP because they don’t like the turd. With him gone, they will turn back to the LPC very quickly.

You’re not the only one that can see the forest for the trees. Many of us has been reflecting on this scenario for quite a few months now.

  8. I was born and raised north of Pittsburgh, in farm country just south of Butler, PA, where the first attempted assassination of President Trump took place last summer. The town of Butler is where the final shoot-out took place, in the movie Mrs. Soffel (with Mel Gibson and Diane Keaton):
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mrs._Soffel

Also, the outdoor shots of the 1968 movie Night of the Living Dead were shot south of Butler, and those outdoor scenes give a view of the country I grew up in.

I immigrated to this country, alone and poor, hoping to renew my university studies in Ottawa. But I had to work for two years at minimum wage jobs before I could scrape up enough money to attend school. I am an introvert, and Ottawa is a very snobbish city, so it was difficult to integrate with native-born Canadians at first. What I did was to read the Globe and Mail every day so I could talk to others about Canadian problems of the day. I also made a point of learning about NHL hockey and CFL football so I could converse with native-born Canadian men. A ready-made way to integrate into society was the two-year master’s programe at the University of Ottawa and the four-year PhD program at Queen’s university. Graduate programs in economics are invariably harsh and intimidating, and by sweating through the various hurdles with others was an easy way of integrating into academic society.

As a side hobby, I was intrigued with Canada’s tradition of accepting corrupt politics, and learned to use the federal Access to Information Act to pass on secret information to investigative journalists. Once one burrows into reading the minutiae of emails among bureaucrats, one realizes one is fully integrated into Canadian society. My current project is to convince journalists that Mark Carney’s Brookfield Asset Management is up to its eyeballs in China investments — all started while Carney was chair of the company’s board of directors. But no such luck so far. But other projects have borne fruit.

My experience was to put on the new coat of native-born Canadians, and to take off the the old coat of the former country. I detest multiculturalism.

    1. David, I was born and raised in Oklahoma. I was in Ottawa for 27 years, And now another 27 in Waterloo.

We could have a conversation and possibly find we have much to share.

I served in Viet Nam. Moved here so my son would not have to serve in a war without end and without purpose. So he has claimed his American citizenship and plans on moving there because of the home ownership situation. He got a PhD in computer science and has a job with a NYC firm I never could have achieved. He graduated from U of Toronto with amazing grades.

I love Canada and I love America. Having found out from anther topic on America how much Canadians hate Americans is very painful. I guess I did know it but ignored it. I married a Canadian woman and she is not that way.

As it is said “you can take the boy out of Oklahoma, but you can’t take the Okie out of the boy.”

    2. David. I lived in Ottawa for 28 years before moving out west. I can validate everything you said about the city. The people there are self-centered, unable to see reality beyond their own bubble.
Eventually, the city will realize that they’ve been sleeping, but only after their local economy has been decimated, which may come sooner rather than later — one could hope.

      1. It’s a typical government town. Victoria is the same.
When you are guaranteed a pay check every 2 weeks, no matter how crappy one does their job, one gets arrogant and flippant, gradually, about everything.
Every government city is the same.

        1. Definitely! I was shocked when I learned how woke Regina is. Almost as bad as Ottawa surprisingly. Pretty much in the same league.

  9. The Liberals don’t want to fix the problem (and there IS a problem, and there IS a fix). They want this issue. They think they can run against Trump by re-running the same “moral panic” play they ran during Covid. And the mindless sheep that “vote left for total self-destruction” in Canada over and over again just might give it to them, same as they did the last time.

Want the answer? It’s right there in Trump’s executive order. ““The Secretary of Homeland Security shall inform the President of any circumstances that, in the opinion of the Secretary of Homeland Security, indicate that the Government of Canada has taken ADEQUATE steps to alleviate this public health crisis through cooperative enforcement actions. Upon the President’s determination of SUFFICIENT action to alleviate the crisis, the tariffs described in section 2 of this order shall be removed.”

All it would take would be to man up and begin to take meaningful steps to secure the border and to clamp down on illegal immigration and drug smuggling, which would be immensely good for both Canada and the US (and which would also begin to solve the problem of illegal handguns being smuggled north from the US, which is ANOTHER problem Trudeau doesn’t want to solve because it’s easier to justify confiscating guns from licensed Canadian firearms owners if he can lie and pretend that they’re the source of illegal guns, not the U.S.). At the same time, it might not be a bad idea to try to tackle the tsunami of Chinese drug money laundering through the cesspool of B.C. that is increasingly making its way west. Or it would be a good idea if the Canadian left wasn’t a subsidiary of the CPC.

But the Liberals – and I include the corpulent moron Doug Ford in that abject mob – don’t want to fix these problems. They’d rather profit politically from them, from the resultant economic ruin, and from the corpses of the dead Canadians (and Americans) that are the grimly obvious end-state. They’d rather rule over the ash heap, and in the process, “turn us all to beggars ’cause they’re easier to please.” Canada isn’t Trump’s target; his target is the criminally incompetent morons that we insist on electing, and the civilizational chaos they and their ilk are causing around the world. Fortunately, that problem has an easy fix too, and the sooner the better.

    1. The turd wants to run against Trump, because he can’t run against PP.
… and the strategy may actually pay off.

Scorched Earth policy. I said it first!

    2. “The Liberals don’t want to fix the problem (and there IS a problem, and there IS a fix). They want this issue. They think they can run against Trump by re-running the same “moral panic” play they ran during Covid. And the mindless sheep that “vote left for total self-destruction” in Canada over and over again just might give it to them, same as they did the last time.”

Judging by a few commenters here, you may be right. That’s so sad.

    3. I’ve been preaching the same message for years, Trodwell, and I’m glad to see I’m not alone. Hard to understand why so many commentors here are Anti-American. The difficulty of our present situation began years ago with Trudeau, the Elder and his friendship with China. At this point the subtle brainwashing propaganda of three generations has inflicted a certain moral and intellectual decay and removed the critical thinking ability of a majority of Canadians. As for the upcoming ‘stars’ of the Liberal party, I place them in the same category as the bench of the Democratic party. The scandals involving both groups are so deep they knew that a Trump election would be catastrophic for them. Hopefully the new Trump administration will actually get to the truth and expose it to the world. The admission by Zelensky of the missing funds and the cancellation of US aid to South Africa might very well be the turning point to the political corruption we have seen in both Canada and America.

      1. ” Hard to understand why so many commentors here are Anti-American. ”

My guess would be years of Liberal brainwashing, aided and abetted by the Canadian ‘news’ media. Jean Chretien admitted as much years ago…he said anti-Americanism was “good politics” in Canada.

  10. Understand.
Those Premiers who pretend to be on “Team Canada” are supporting Team Trudeau.
The solution is have parliament sit and change the Trudeau regime’s present policy on borders, fentanyl and defence spending.

Let’s not forget what Trudeau did to the Trucker Protest for costing $Billions.
Albertans were debanked, arrested. and persecuted.
So should be done to Trudeau and those who support him.

    1. Parliament has to turn its back on globalism, then choose a non-globalist premier. The rest will follow. Globalism has strangled Canada.

      1. Canadians can easily be bought and paid for. The turd has proven this by bailing out the failing media in this country.
Once the money starts rolling in through UBI, you can bet that the sheeple will come rolling back to the LPC. UBI will be entrenched, and no future government realizing that they have fallen into the socialist trap will be able to convince Canadians to give it up.

    2. This should have been the premiers first response – demand the Turd recall parliament. The Turd’s regime has lost legitimacy and moral authority to govern and, in turn, to handle what should have been an easily negotiated solution.
It’s simultaneously pathetic and infuriating to see Canadians being whipped by faux appeals to patriotism from a regime that’s done everything a hostile entity would do to foment discord and erase culture, unity and prosperity here.
This country deserves everything it’s going to get, good and hard. But I’m pissed because I’ll be taken down with it, despite seeing the situation for what it is. My only hope is that it actually finally triggers Alberta sovereignty. A faint hope, but it’s all I’ve got left.

      1. “My only hope is that it actually finally triggers Alberta sovereignty. A faint hope, but it’s all I’ve got left.”

        Amen, Brother. Good post.

  11. Yank here.
One thing not mentioned in this video (well done otherwise) is that Canada has a long list of expensive tariffs on Amer goods.
Is this a personal Trump-grudge against Trudeau? Damned straight it is. Trudeau opened the borders, for instance, as a virtue signal to zing Trump.
I think that most Americans are tired of buying everyone’s stuff, not being able to sell American stuff to them, all the while other countries criticize us for “doing it wrong.” And then them having social programs that they can (barely) afford ’cause they don’t have to pay for military.

    1. Exactly.
Every time a friend or family member tells me how “we’re” superior I ask them if they ever thank Americans for protecting their freedom.

  12. I am so very excited over the prospect of a complete collapse of Canada as a nation. On the other side of that are two very good scenarios.

    1. Incorporation of Canada into the USA
    2. A newfound democratic Canadian Republic stripped from its current owners and handlers in England.

Canada does not deserve to be a country anymore in its current form, and the socialist weaklings throughout that country need to be dealt with in the harshest manner possible.

    1. Well if it happens
What you end up with is the current federal authority in Ottawa being dissolved and each province decides if they want to remain under the constitutional monarchy, go it alone as an independent state, or decide to become part of the Union as a state and all the rights and responsibilities that go with it.
The territories would likely be deemed protectorate with either joint administration between the crown and the US. Eventually handed over entirely under US control.
All this sudden patriotism is ironic considering the benefits of being geographically next to the US like somehow we can carry on pretending they are not there and our standard of living and the culture had nothing to do with them.
Imagine how things would have turned out if the parliament of George III had the foresight to allow the 13 colonies to expand westward and informed the residents of the newly conquered territories of New France “learn English law or get out”

    2. Joseph and John Q

Canada won’t became part of the U.S.

      a) too many Canadians would vote Democrat. Thus Trump would ensure a Democrat Presidency, Senate, and House.
Thus we’d all be stuck with the type of wackos the Dems run for President; i.e. Obama, Biden, and Harris. Do we really want a President Kamala Harris?

      b) instead of tens of thousands of illegal immigrants, coming from Canada, the U.S. would have 40 million people who could now freely move around the US

      c) goods made in the Canadian “state(s)” where wages are lower, would be able to freely enter the US, thus displacing American made goods.

      d) Current US companies would be free to set up shop, or move, to the Canadian “state” where wages are lower than in the US.

  13. More mass formation psychosis.
Now we get to watch as millions of Canadians cut their noses of to spite their stupid faces.

  14. Yes…this vid commentary explains the situation clearly.
Again…something you won’t see on CBC.
    Love the outdoorsy affect.

    1. My sense is that it will happen… the bigger companies at first. On this point, PP nails it.
And once those companies move, it will be nearly impossible to bring them back. Canada will truly be a backwater nation, producing little more than our natural resources, which of course will be exploited by the white elephant south of the 49th.

The auto sector will be the first to go, I can imagine.

      1. Indeed, the auto sector is a prime candidate to say goodbye.
Blob Ford deserves that outcome. So do the pantywaists of Morontariowe who have always had it easy.
        Reality Bites.
There’s an easy way out, and a destructive way. Our narcissist politicos seem to want the destructive way, to elevate their egos at everyone’s expense.

  15. Given Trudeau, Hans Gruber, Carney et al have wanted to shut down the oil sands, I’m guessing they see this as an opportunity not as a problem. Stir up the anger some more and then the export taxes on oil will be next. Trudeau did say pain needs to be shared so a 15% export tax on energy would put everything at 25%.

Pierre P said if a package included dropping bill C-69, CPC would vote for it. No way the Libs/NDP/BQ will drop bill C-69. Bill C-69 is Trudeau’s crowning legacy. If Libs don’t okay Northern Gateway and Energy East, you know that they are just giving lip service to protecting Cdn interests.

  16. The only way to fight this is for Canada to reduce the sale of its products by 25%.
Plus Alberta to reduce the cost of its oil by another 10%.
In that time Canada needs to secure its border, but also restructure its system in order to be able to sell its wares profitably to the rest of the world. It’ll take time. That means building pipelines to the west and eastern shores, with tankers and ships to haul our wares to…
Of course with Trudeau and the Liberal Party of Canada in power, this will never happen. So prepare for a third world status with the liberals running everything, because most Canadians are idiots.

    1. Our internal transportation systems are so bad that eastern Canada imports Russian potash rather than get SK potash. It is a national disgrace that we have not built an adequate transportation corridor between MB and southern ON, from AB to the Pacific, from southern ON to the Atlantic.

CPR was build when Canada had a population of 4.5 million. Do we have 10-times the transportation capacity today? No.

  17. David and fc, I always liked Ottawa. Some snobs for sure, but always more than enough positivity to distract from it.

Do steer clear of the civil service.

Warren, I don’t find most Canadians to be idiots. Possibly sheltered. You can see 3rd world conditions here already. Look at Weber and Victoria, for instance. (Waterloo Ont.)

  18. Not totally relevant, but this would NEVER have happened under Harper. He was far too intelligent and cautious. Trudeau and the Liberal Party have given us a weak and ineffectual country. If PP gets in, I hope he makes use of Harper as a negotiator with the US.

    1. And to think the Canadian electorate elected Trudeau over Harper… Then re elected Trudeau again.
      It depresses the soul.

      1. Warren, I agree with your comment on the Canadian electorate, but the US ended up with Obama and Biden.

  19. Canadians are getting on the “buy Canadian bandwagon.” in retaliation to the imposed US tariffs. Not me. Why? Mark my words: Canadian companies will jack up their prices by 25%. Why? Why not. I remember the ice storms of 1998 in the Ottawa area. Local companies gouged affected homeowners in firewood, blankets, generators and other goods and services that were desperately needed. Why? Because circumstances allowed for it and because they could.

  20. Justin Trudeau hates Canada and will use anything for a crisis. I fear Trump is serving Trudeau’s interests.

  21. Should Trump demand that Canada atone for it’s racist genocidal past by raising tariffs until Canada exhumes the bodies of the tens of thousands of murdered native school children buried in mass graves on the sites of the old Residential schools?

That would create some interesting media discussions.

    1. “Should Trump demand that Canada atone for it’s racist genocidal past by raising tariffs until Canada exhumes the bodies of the tens of thousands of murdered native school children buried in mass graves on the sites of the old Residential schools?”

      I love it.

Make the Liberals and ‘Conservatives’ either defend their false narrative or admit that it was a scam all along…

  22. I’ll say it again. So many Canadians are blinded by their insane irrational hatred of Trump that they can’t think – period.

And our moron of a PM is dooming our country – correction. HAS doomed our country even before this. The future for Canada is bleak.

    1. I was hoping for a Trump victory. I thought there were many crucial problems that would not get addressed under a Harris administration.

What I didn’t expect was for Trump to act like a complete jackass towards one of its oldest allies. Even accepting that there are serious problems that need addressing, they could have been handled in a vastly more constructive manner, a manner that would not create lasting bitterness and distrust.

So no, I’m not blinded by an insane irrational hatred of Trump. But I do know what side of the border I’m on.

      1. Canada an ally today? Your joking. Canada relies on the USA for defense. The USA carries Canada.

      2. That constructive manner you speak of would have last months on end, accomplished very little to address Trump’s concerns and the lasting bitterness and distrust would have been amplified.

Neither Trudeau nor his Libtard replacement would have negotiated in good faith.

  23. “It seems that a large number of Canadians are fully against Trump and supporting the Lieberals.”

People aren’t “supporting the Liberals”. They are supporting Canada. The Liberals just happen to be the governing party right now.

I am astonished at how many Canadians want Trump to punish Canada as a way of getting back at Trudeau. Trudeau doesn’t matter anymore. In less than two months he’ll be gone. What does matter is Canada, and it doesn’t deserve this.

    1. Trump wasn’t elected to help Canada, especially with the cabal of tards currently running this joint.
When push comes to shove, you have always supported the left on any and all policies that matter, vax-rat.

    2. Canada deserves this in spades. Canadians are the most feckless, most useless people on the face of the planet. After all, they reliably vote 60% for leftards, no matter that the evidence proves the leftards f*ck everything up. I can’t wait for the next referendum in Quebec and I wish the PQ good luck in finally winning it. Then, Canada can finally be put to rest.

    3. “People aren’t “supporting the Liberals”. They are supporting Canada. ”

Oh, wow…is THAT what you think you are doing?

More than one person here has tried to explain to you what is really happening (and why). If you *still* can’t understand it, you clearly never will.

  24. KM, Yes Canada DOES deserve it!
We have elected incompetent juveniles to run the country both provincially and federally, (except perhaps Alberta), who, instead of fixing the problems of immigration, crime, drugs, borders, smuggling, (I could go on, but you get the picture) prefer, to act out and stamp their feet, and retaliate against our largest trading partner and closest neighbor, who are simply asking we do at least attempt to fix those problems, and the tariffs would be removed.

The turd needs to go now, but if Canada accepts Carney as his replacement, and we end up with more liberal government, Canada will continue to deserve this. It’s time for Canada to grow up!

  25. It seems most of Canada has TDS so badly that they would rather see Canada crumble and fall in a failed trade war than comply with Trump’s actually reasonable requests. Strengthen our border security, get tougher on fentanyl labs and fentanyl crossing our borders, and clamp down on immigration. Mexico is apparently smarter than Canada. I guess we need to learn the hard way.
