But he says major projects like pipelines need to be built the right way, by addressing environmental concerns and bringing Indigenous governments on board.
Not even the greenies. The natives want to hold everyone hostage for either more money or more privilege. They won’t agree to anything that might make money or might make things better. Not in their nature.

There is the threat from BC’s NDP that if “we” in AB have to pay a charge per barrel to move oil to the BC coast, those 900,000 shipping containers which pass through AB are going to face a charge on their way into AB before they exit to the east, and if AB does this, Saskatchewan may too, and if Saskatchewan does, based upon what the Premier of Manitoba is saying, Manitoba will be entertaining a charge as well.
Well that’ll do wonders for Canadian cohesiveness!

“willing to entertain” is the semantical game the Manitoba NDP has been playing on new pipelines since at least the time Gary Doer was Premier. They can’t dismiss the idea out of hand for fear of alienating union voters who would work on the projects or reserves that could potentially benefit from them. But they always find some grounds to object, or at least not promote a project because their lefty tree hugger core voters will obviously not stand for a new pipeline.
