  1. Strange that the person whose decisions are party responsible for the catastrophe is now making decisions about fixing the catastrophe. Politicians are even scummier than I give them credit for.

    1. She’s repeating what her career bureaucrats told her because she’s functionally incompetent. That’s why she backs down so fast.

      1. Amen, The “hazardous waste” removal is just grift #1, of many. 18 months? No way, the bureaucrats wouldn’t even have identified the stakeholders that need to be represented on the committee to study the problem in 18 months.

        1. Study the hazardous waste issue for 18 months, waiting for rain to wash most of it away.
Some of the remaining stuff will be carried away by mud slides.

Then, since this is California, in five to ten years new fires will create more waste.

      2. She is so very, very, far out of her depth that I am amazed she even dared show up to that forum. Newscum was smart-enough (barely) to avoid the verbal and intellectual beat-down.

And she didn’t “read the room” very well as NONE of the victims present wanted the incompetent fool there. And her every word extolled the virtue and necessity of government … in the wake of massive government incompetence. Foolish words by an utter fool.

      3. Building is Trumps main vocation. He goes to LA having removed all Federal permit requirements. He called a state of emergency to do so. She on the other hand has no real clue and makes claims where she is either lying about or has no idea about. Where’s Gav? Did he stay out of this because he knew Trump would get him in a vise.

Compare the Federal approach in LA to that of Jasper, Alberta. The Alberta Government should find a site just outside Jasper National Park and get a group of competent developers to build Canmore II / Kananaskis II. Then obstruct the Feds at every turn.

    2. Trump directed critical comments to Brad Sherman who helped screw-up CA fire insurance. The Trump team is informed and ready to point fingers when and where necessary.
Trump War Room on X: “President Trump SLAMS California Rep. Brad Sherman: “You did something Brad where every insurance company in the country left California. That’s why you have no insurance… people that think like you made it so impossible.”

Wasn’t this meeting carried live to the effected citizens in SoCal?

      1. And he whined … but, but, but … Insurance companies are leaving FL too!!! Hahahaha ha ha … no they’re not. At least nothing close to the exodus of Insurance companies from CA. But what HAVE Florida insurance carriers done? They’ve jacked up insurance rates … because they CAN … unlike CA that artificially restricts insurance rates with idiotic policies.

How can an ideologue THAT stupid and uninformed be in-charge of large systems such as insurance?

        1. There is a big lesson here for States that have rate review boards who dictate to Insurers what insurance rates can be. Their mandate is to control rates as politicians wear it when the public starts grousing about insurance costs. In CA the State rejected requests to raise the fire insurance rates to properly reflect the risk. Insurance companies pulled out of the market.

I’ll bet most States have these rate boards. We have them in Canada. They are stacked with political hacks not actuaries. Their job is to protect politicians. Look what happened.

          1. Politicians have ONE and only ONE priority … popularity. So yeah … be damned unintended consequences … pass stupid regulations that ensure popularity… and then become a pariah when the results kick in. Idiots. Self-serving idiots.

  2. Notice that Trump is mostly just repeating what the audience is complaining about. You can disagree with Trump but ignore the voters at your peril.

  3. Restraint and patience with a roomful of idiots – some who try to use this as an opportunity to lecture him about tangentially related policy like tariffs. – Trump is a gracious man.

The highest priority for most of the people in that room for years has been left wing self righteous feel good policies, not good governance, they’re juveniles. Liberal racist juveniles getting just desserts.

    1. The Delta Smelt were only “protected” by a Federal Judge to “save” the Striped Bass population. The Smelt are the primary food source of Striped Bass in the San Joaquin Delta, and the Sacramento. This was based on ONE “study” by a radical leftist UC Davis professor. Protecting the Smelt was really all about protecting the Bass

Anti-human decisions like this need to be appealed to the SCOTUS and overturned as purely anti-human and anti-development.

Isn’t it ironic (read: idiotic) that the State has consistently and strategically (to support their global warming narrative) dumped our reservoirs into the Pacific Ocean hence MAKING water scarce … and at the same time floods (sorry) our State with illegals … tripling the State population in my lifetime. And now, the State is pushing to triple (or more) housing in single family neighborhoods hence tripling demand for water. What kind of idiots CREATE a water shortage while simultaneously creating water demand? Government. Leftist ideologue government.

  4. Yep Kenji, but now at least people on the ground can get it out on X and substack and thwart these people. Keep telling it like it is! There’s a reasonable chance it will get to the ears required. What I heard from Bass was not we want you to “be safe” but we want to have deniability and cover when we purposefully foot drag such that people are forced to give up and we can develop the land the way we $$want$$. Johnson talked about strings attached to the federal assistance, make fast and single family part of the strings.

  5. Prohibiting homeowners from going back to their properties is straight out of the 2023 Maui fires playbook.
Newsom’s chat with Hawaii Governor Josh Green about potential “land use” ideas and “LA 2.0” while the fires weren’t even put out yet is just too weird.
All this from the party of never let a crisis go to waste.

    1. My blood is BOILING over the denial of residents to access their properties. As if the “First Responders” and the Nat. Guard cannot provide security AND allow resident access. Yeah … there are things called “ID’s” … like CA drivers licenses and “REAL ID’s” … that pair names and addresses. Sheesh!

And “public health”? That’s why they can’t return to their properties!? What about the toxic smoke (and Co2) these same “public health” officials caused by supporting “ecological” restrictions on brush clearing? And we’ve all seen exactly what damage these “public health” officials can wreak when given ultimate POWER over the people.

PS … the next installment of Property Taxes are due Apr. 15 … and there is no forbearance of taxes. Every property owner will have to apply for a reduction in taxes due to their property “improvements” having been burned to the ground by the same government collecting those taxes. But throughout CA … the LAND VALUE portion of their tax bill far outweighs the improvements … so their reductions won’t be more than 25% of their tax bills. So they’re taxed up the ass … for a property they’re banned from visiting. And … no … the reduction in tax paperwork won’t possibly be completed by Apr. 15 … so the full half of their yearly taxes will be due

  6. Some common commie red flags between California Fires and Jasper Fires:
… intentionally refusing to clear dead-fall & brush for many years (“to save the planet”)
… intentional deterioration of fire-fighting infrastructure (“financial issues”)
… maliciously incompetent fire-fighting response (DEI)
… fires occurred during overly convenient fire risk seasons (plausible deniability)
… suspicion of arson claims ignored (incurious media)
… rejection and/or delay of volunteered help from intergovernmental or neighboring fire trucks, equipment, and personnel (bureaucratic bull shit)
… leadership response obviously incompetent, likely malicious (political partisanship)
… immediate re-zoning eliminates current home owners from re-building (“for much needed affordable housing”)

    The stench is overwhelming.

  7. Who started the fires?

Was it an urban renewal project started by Karen Bass’s buddies in the Vencermos brigade? Or some of Newscum’s buddies?

All designed so LA can have acres and acres of Moscow housing.

    1. Joe, Joe, Joe … it’s an ongoing investigation … hence the officials have nothing to report. You know, just like the Trump assassination perpetrators. The government will do-nothing, and say-nothing until the clock runs out on public interest. It’s a time honored (sorry) government tactic. It’s disgusting.

  8. I watched the whole thing on Fox last night. Trump did not pull punches. Told them what to do. Said that water will flow into SoCal. FEMA is incompetent (I am waiting for the EO) . Appointed his man on the ground.. and said ominously I’ll be back.

  9. Communist LIARS like Karen Bass need to have their words exposed to the disinfectant of sunlight!

  10. Bass is like all liberal politicians. They just wanna do good things and feel good. They do not understand where money comes from. Everybody is a victim because of some external force. How wealth is created is a mystery. The “can’t we all get along and be nice” crowd. Canada is full of these politicos. The mare of Toronto comes to mind.

  11. Watching Bass talk reminds me of Freeland. The condescending delivery , her voice and especially the hands flying around . She sounds like a typical Liberal. She’s going to fix all the problems she created, just like the Liberal clowns in Ottawa. Steve O
