    3. Israel should offer 10 dead “Palestinians” for each dead hostage.
      I don’t understand why Israel always agrees to these ridiculous demands.

    Looks like a 117 million gallon reservoir would have made a significant impact on water pressure.

    1. But, but, but … when the winds of EXTREME weather blow … “no amount of water would have helped anyway”. That’s what the leftist PR spinners are telling everyone. “When the winds blow THAT hard … there’s nothing anyone can do.”

      But … if we just “reimagine” our cities … and house people in massive concrete blocks of affordable “equity housing” … then every human will have a cell, err home to return to after the inevitable global warming fires.

        I hear that argument, but LA routinely gets those winds.

        So why hasn’t the city and state government recognized that? They have 150 plus years of history.

        We require earthquake resistant buildings and infrastructure, so why not require fire resistant buildings, and infrastructure (including electrical wires)? Why not require fire preventative city operations such as brush clearing, and act do them?

        On top of the 150 years of history, the climate change crowd says it will get worse, yet they still do nothing. Note good SDA reader I don’t think climate change is a problem, other than I’ve ages.

        It’s pure incompetence.

        1. Why does the State of CA MANDATE fire sprinklers INSIDE every new home and substantial remodel in the State? Sprinklers that may … may … put out a couch fire … but will do NOTHING in an external wildfire … in fact, will likely harm the water supplies and pressures as all the plastic sprinkler pipes melt.

          Here’s an idea … with the gargantuan budgets thrown at Firefighting in this State … which mostly goes to Gold plated salaries and underfunded pensions … how about designing strategies for defeating and fighting fires BEFORE they ignite? How about building fire breaks NOW! Literally agent Orange grids of vegetation in strategic locations that would greatly limit the spread of fire? No, not toxic chemicals … but you get the idea. How about actually putting teenagers in The CA Conservation Corps clearing these breaks 365 days of the year?

            I’ve heard that orange groves around LA used to serve as sort of a fire break in days gone by.

            Any truth to that?

          2. The information coming out of the LA fires is mostly designed to either shoot down those in charge or defend them (more of the first originally but the politicians are mounting an impressive misinformation campaign of their own).

            What is missing is discussion on what would actually work. For example, they talk about not having controlled fires to keep the dry material to a minimum but they don’t really discuss why this process was ended. Did it not work? Was it too expensive? Environmental concerns? They talk about not having fire breaks but how big would those breaks have to be to keep embers from spreading fire in a 100 mph wind?

            They talk about the lack of water in the fire hydrants, but the politicians claim you can’t expect the local fire fighters to put out wildfires and other politicians claim the reservoirs were full anyway – except the Palisades reservoir that was undergoing repair. They further argue that these reservoirs are not big enough to put out wildfires anyway.

            The experts tell us you cannot use salt water to put out wildfires and then the media show photos of Canadian water bombers loading up on water from the Pacific Ocean (while flying).

            They claim the homeless set the fires, then others counter with the fires started in the distant hills, too far away from where the homeless are. Yet others claim the wooden hydro poles snapped and the arcing electrical lines started the fire. Then the media show photos of metal towers and claim they were the source of the fire.

            The head of the fire department claimed it’s not their job to carry people to safety in a fire. Then the media pans to people watering down their houses to keep them from catching fire (and it seems to work).

            They claim the incoming fire trucks from Oregon were stopped for several hours to make sure they met safety inspections. You are left wondering why Oregon would send defective fire fighting equipment to California. Then you find out that half the fire trucks in California are offline because they don’t meet safety standards – or perhaps that is just more disinformation.

            The number of celebrities complaining about the lack of preparedness has dropped off pretty substantially. The remaining critics are being singled out as losers.

            The only take away from this disaster is that a) you’re probably on your own in the event of an emergency and b) our leaders will never take responsibility for the problems that lead up to these tragedies so a) you’re on your own.

            Rumor has it that, hot on the heels of the looters, real estate people are swooping in looking for cheap deals on building lots.

            BTW … I just re-sided my home with fire RESISTANT (nothing is truly firePROOF) composite siding. I installed foam insulation which eliminated the need for any eave vents. And installed Fire resistant roofing.

            And I am now considering the addition of rain bird sprinklers on my roof

    1. I can see Newscum blaming the lack of equipment on post Covid supply chain issues. Remember the backup of container ships at the L.A. shipyards? Wasn’t his fault then either.

      Isn’t it lovely that Californy has its very own Justin Trudeau with a steady hand at the tiller? It would all be funny if it weren’t so tragic.

      1. How many Fire Captains actually don’t want them back? But instead benefit from having them mothballed so he can cut crew numbers and maintenance budgets and spend those funds on junkets to Singapore to “learn” about Asian firefighting techniques?

        If we had a real Press and a Real government … we’d have an anal-probe level forensic examination of every budget at every Fire Station in the State … and uncomfortable truths would be revealed to the voters. But we are lied-to by omission as our nations are being looted.

    A fire occurred at a Luloil refinery in Volgograd. Local authorities claim that no external factors caused the fire.

    In the past months there have been similar “no external factor” fires in Russian refineries. Suggest that Putin reconsider Russian DEI and maintenance plans. The current ones don’t seem to be working.

    Lots of people claiming success.

    Two points;

    1. Of 94 remaining hostages, only 33 are to be returned alive. The rest are dead or will be held by Hamas.

    2. Hamas has a long history of not honouring deals.

    It might all be BS but if the libranos are anything they are cunning.

    1. Carney may also have been the brains behind the original Lib/NDP support deal where the Libs made promises that they never or barely made good on for the NDP support. THe “not an insider” insider has been holding Justine’s hand for a while.
      NDP fell for it once (twice, three times?), why not try again?

      There are a whole lot of MP’s (80 ish?) needing the election to be delayed past Oct 21, 25 for their pensions. A lot who know they’re toast come an election. Maserati Jaggie might even feel some compassion for them (and want to continue the paycheck) and not back a Non-Confidence vote and then support a delayed election date.

      Though he may be feeling a little uppity at the possibility of being the Official Opposition.

      I do not expect an early election date.
