    1. Our local fire departments carry fire extinguishers to fight hot spots, car fires etc. Thus why didn’t they use those instead of purses full of water?

      1. By the time of the purses, I suspect all portable extinguishers were empty.

Similarly all buckets they carried on their trucks were probably being used elsewhere.

The frontline firefighters were doing the best with what the city and its management gave them.

      2. Are these really purses and handbags or are they purpose made water carriers?- collapsible bucket brigade instead of wasting an extinguisher

  1. Link isn’t working, but I’ve seen several videos of fire fighters carrying what looks like purses filled with water and then pouring said water on hot spots. Seriously, lack of water and equipment seem to be the theme for those poor first responders.

  2. My first instinct would have been to park a lot closer. Also back in, so as to be able to leave more quickly to attend the next small fire.

  3. ” … So… not even a garden hose?”

Well, they outlawed plastic garden hoses at the same time they outlawed plastic drinking straws. And the paper replacement hoses don’t hold water

  4. Using hand bags to put out a literal dumpster fire!

LAFD needs a Daryl F. Gates right now!

    1. So … let me understand … one of the very FIRST strategies of fighting wildfires is to decide what to save and what isn’t worth saving … so some Fire Captain ordered his troops to put out a dumpster fire? With flimsy purses filled with water? Wow … that’s some fine DIE LGBTQueer decision-making there.

They SAVED the paper burning in the dumpster … burning paper … that doesn’t create sparks large enough to blow and spread the fire.

  5. Kate aside, when three incompetent women run your fire department, you got a very serious problem as the insane communists under the control of hair and teeth, oh well, be prepared to lose everything and die.

    1. The LA mayor is a Castroite.

The LA deputy mayor was placed on administrative leave after the FBI searched his home in connection with an investigation into a bomb threat made against city hall.

  6. Didn’t Biden’s nuclear ‘guy’ get caught for stealing luggage/purses at airports?

    The freak show continues!

  7. The Evolution of California.
This was 19 years ago. The newer buckets are made of gluten-free fabric of all-vegan origin, and smaller so as to have a lesser carbon footprint.
You have to admit that using little fabric buckets creates far more jobs for the low-skill illegal aliens who are California’s most revered residents, than would use of a water truck with a pump and a hose.

  8. Readers added context to this video on another post: “LAFD officials confirmed the “handbags” seen in local news reports are actually canvas bags firefighters bring on their engines for various jobs. When tackling small fires, it’s easier to quickly fill the bags with water & extinguish the flames, than it is to haul out a hose.”

  9. Garden hoses were deemed to be too phallic and triggered the lesbian and transgender firepersons in management and in the field so were replaced by kinder, gentler bags with beautiful free spirited logos evocative of the new fire department vision
