This drone footage of the devastation is a must watch. Tim Pool shares his frustration about California’s “leaders”.
We pay the highest taxes in California. Our fire hydrants were empty. Our vegetation was overgrown, brush not cleared. Our reservoirs were emptied by our governor because tribal leaders wanted to save fish. Our fire department budget was cut by our mayor. But thank god drug…

In response to Ms. Foster, one commenter included the following graphics under the headline of “Never so long as you have these”:

Seems like building homes only 8′ apart is also not a good idea.
Especially if you’re not going to maintain the power lines, and you’re not going to do controlled burns in the canyons the power lines run down, and you’re not going to keep water in the reservoirs, and your fire department is run by a bunch of gender studies majors… and this sort of thing happens every freaking year, but they’re still not ready for it…
Kind of like Jasper, really. Except MUCH bigger, and even more deeply corrupt.
Absolutely. That was poignantly demonstrated in Boulder, Colorado about two years ago. Cost them about 400 homes, I believe.
Reports on the Boulder fire. High winds, lousy zoning, no attention paid to invasive cheat grass growth.

Thank you Dr. Fauxci. The Houses should have socially distanced themselves from one another … on at least six acre lots?
Because your neighbors house might be burning asymptomatically ?
Green theocracies have their priorities and you’re not one of them. That drone footage looks like Hiroshima in August of 1945. A bloody tragedy for the residents!
Hiroshima is a good compare, I was going to say Dresden. I asked earlier on a post how do we know this is not an attack? Pool has a good point, most people are decent but they just don’t know. Frustrating.
I don’t have any sympathy for any of them. They got what they voted for (Demorat).
I’ve refrained from posting on the fires. Mostly because I have nothing nice to say. Offering platitudes or condolences used to be the norm. But, it’s bordering on dishonest to do so any more. How many times can you warn a toddler not to get too close the staircase?
Here are my thoughts wrapped up in a neat little (not safe for work) package.

That non-intrview with the LA Mayoress was excrutiating. She knew she had done wrong and had nothing to say; couldn’t even say nothing.
Well, empty and blow up all water retention damns, ah, who the hell cares, they voted for it. Let it burn, they will still vote democrat, those that live.
SoCal progressives will still vote Democrat when 6 feet under.
… on several ballots no less
It’s the event that is a confluence of continued, leftist boilerplate arrogance and activism, resulting in devastating losses to some of the most partisan and wealthy of the Demarxist elite. Yes, there are many others affected that are not part of that regime and don’t vote destructively.
Adam Corolla, example#1.
So, fire department budget cut $17Million last year. Fire equipment shipped off to Ukraine! 150 Firefighters terminated and not rehired because they would not take the DeathJab. DEI raised as the highest priority if their DEI hired lesbian Fire Chief. Dams torn down and reservoirs drained, plus water diversions to save a bony little invasive fish, left hydrants dry all over.
On top of that, the big insurers pulled out last year, not due to meanness or a conspiracy, but because the State Regulator for home insurance would not let them raise premiums to their assessed risk levels. It’s business. NOT CLIMATE CHANGE.
Not to mention still the possibility of arson by accidental or nefarious means.
Everything from California is political, but the hardcore blue districts are getting it good and hard. They voted for it.
Those neighborhoods stood for 120 years!! Without a single conflagration. But for MOST of those years the State and the City had at least marginally competent leadership. What changed? It’s bleeding obvious to everyone except the clingers … those who cling to the doxology of global warming and Marxist … “progressives”. Useful idiots … the lot of em. They cling to global warming and LGBTQueer “Love” … and Pedo-“Joy”
The poseur-Governor scolded residents for not fleeing fast-enough when TOLD to evacuate … but there were NO POLICE directing traffic and superseding traffic lights to facilitate that escape. NONE. AWOL … doing what? So residents … who didn’t want to burn to death … abandoned their cars that the LAFD then gleefully bulldozed so their trucks could gain access … gain access to do … well, nothing … since their water supply was already drained.
Fusterclucking incompetence … and you would be aghast at the size of the public pensions they will start collecting at age 50.
First Responders, my ass! That label is one big mind-fkcu! The police are useless bureaucrats waiting on their lucrative public pensions.
Guvnah Hairdo, the Ghanaian mayor, and the establishment, will try their damndest to CLIMATE CHANGE this disaster, so as to pass the buck from their incompetence.
Don’t know how well that will work out with the very well off set, that are still well off despite multi-million dollar losses.
They can afford lawyers and whatever they need.
Already mentioned in some coverage was pending class action lawsuits. Hope it’s suing the city and the state, and not the past insurers.
News articles mention that these Santa Ana winds were forecast before the mayor of LA left for My African Vacation. If the Santa Ana winds were expected, why didn’t the climate change gurus forsee the fires with their oh so accurate modeling? Why didn’t the governor activate California’s National Guard by Tuesday night to aid evacuations and firefighting? So many questions asked but no satisfactory answers given.
I’ll bet you $700 FEMA acts more swiftly and generously for the citizens of a state that voted “correctly.”
FEMA? Flipping Exterminate Middle America?
They are already on the job. Hunter called his dad. Meanwhile they are still trying to find North Carolina on a map.
Keep voting Democrat.
“My response is He got himself in the wrong place if I have to carry him out of a fire.” LA Assistant Fire Chief.

Good news for California! The competent Florida Governor Ron DeSantis offers real help.
In the face of the raging wildfires devastating Los Angeles, it is clear that Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D-Calif.) leadership has fallen short, while Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) has demonstrated what true leadership looks like in times of crisis.

Jimmy Carter Dead Day.
Watching LA burn is the new reality TV.
One reason for the fires’ severity can be summed up in one word: “Renters.”
Renters do not maintain buildings and yards like the owners will. They’ll plant a flammable Eucalyptus or a Pine by the house, or they’ll turn off the irrigation to the lawns and shrubberies, just ‘cuz…reasons.
Renters don’t give a flying f_ck about the places they live in. Just like the homeless people who scurry around the West Coast’s posh ‘hoods, lighting fires and pooping in the streets.
I think this “Renters’ Neglect” contributed mightily to this conflagration. Is there any way to measure for this?
Before you dig too deeply into this, know that most mortgages and HELOC’s forbid using the securitized property as anything other than a “permanent residence.” So don’t be surprised when the property’s listed owner hangs up when you call. She knows she has violated her loan terms by living out of state and having her scruffy tenant, conveniently, pay her monthly debts. And, for obvious reasons, she doesn’t want her bank to accuse her of defaulting.
So Mum’s The Word. And renters can really suck!
