  1. The House has rejected a bill to extend spending and keep the government running.

President Musk objected to an agreed upon compromise that would have kept things going until March and VP Trump backed him. The compromised bill was killed.

A new bill was presented by VP Trump and 38 Republicans voted against it – killing it. A blow to Trump.

Things are difficult in US politics even for a President with majorities in the House and Senate. I realize things don’t change for another month but Trump jumped in on this and was rebuked.

    1. Or, enough Democrats could have voted for it to get it through removing whatever magical powers they think a President-elect and an unelected man has over the current sitting Congress.

  2. SDA Sideshow: All of the income generated by the GST now just covers the interest on Canda’s debt; there is no reduction in debt. The GST ‘Holiday’ will cost about $2 Billion which will be added to the debt. The CBc and the Post Office cost more than $2 Billion annually. So, once the GST ‘Holiday’ is over, Canada should add another 5% to the GST for two months (that’s only 10% now) to pay for the CBC and the Post Office for the whole year. The debt won’t increase and both the CBC and Post Office will be saved. What’s not to like about that?

    1. We really need to have a serious conversation about the Post Office. I would start by making junk mail illegal and then answer the issue of why some people get door-to-door delivery while others have to drive to the nearest Post Office to get their mail, or to a local drop-off box.

Almost all my mail now arrives via email. My bank archives my financial statements for up to 7 years. All my bills come via email. And yet my mailbox is full of junk mail almost every day. It goes straight to the blue box. Out of one scam and into another.

    1. “…there’s no mechanism for the Liberal Party to forcefully turf him from power.”

A treason conviction and execution would work just fine for that.

      Arrest him.

      1. The Liberals arresting Trudeau? Ha, ha, ha.

Why would they arrest him when they won’t even vote, abstain, or fail to show up to vote.

    1. It’s hard to believe that things could get even worse for the Liberals if Trudeau stepped down.

  3. The corruption of political parties is on full display for all to see right now with the LPC placing it’s interest above the interest of the country. It’s more important to save the Bongs ass than it is to govern responsibly.

We’re now getting a new cabinet made up of libranos who were previously dispised and not trusted by the PMO. Losers, if you will. This move gives the Bong cover and time to calculate his next move.

Is the Bong going to attend Trump’s inauguration? Would he have the gall? Would he put himself through the humiliation of another Trump mocking?

    1. “… Starmer chooses…”

I have no doubt Starmer is an extorted blackmailed evil psycho tool, just like his ‘choice’ of ambassador. That person was selected for him.

  4. Jughead Singe (aka “Meathead”) just put out an official statement on his verified X account calling for an NDP motion of non-confidence; vote to be held in the first sitting of HoC when MPs return in late January.
I don’t have a link, but I did see a digital copy of the statement.
I’d expect you’ll hear more about this as the day progresses.

    “Yalda Night 2024

As winter arrives in the Northern Hemisphere, Iranians worldwide prepare for one of their most cherished traditions—Yalda Night. Known as the longest and darkest night of the year, Yalda falls on the final evening of the Persian month of Azar, marking the winter solstice.

In Iranian culture, however, this night embodies much more than just a seasonal change; it celebrates light triumphing over darkness, warmth over cold, and togetherness over solitude. Families and friends gather to share stories, poetry, and traditional foods, creating an evening rich with cultural warmth and spiritual renewal.”
