  1. Same problem would exist if they used printed map, it’s the people doing the construction who are at fault.

  2. Yeah, God forbid you should barricade the entrance to the bridge, so let’s blame Google.
Sometimes you just have to shake your head.

    1. precisely.
and l dont see a single molecule of humour in this.
some people frequenting this blog are severe shytheads.

  3. Watch their compatriots try to park in any Saskatoon parking lot and you will understand how they could drive off the end of a bridge, warning signs or no warning signs.

  4. A little off-topic, but perhaps noteworthy. A conspiracy theory claims that Bluesky’s butterfly logo is related to child predation. Take a look at msn.com’s logo at the top of the linked article. Twice is coincidence, I guess.

  5. It’s annoying when people tell you to use Android Autoplay in your car when there is a built-in map already. I guess I’m in another minority group now in not wanting Google to know everything about me. It seems the car companies are taking the easy option, too, and can’t be bothered offering up-to-date maps. It may not have made any difference in this case, of course.

  6. Wait.

We’re blaming navigation apps and not the drivers for failing to apply common sense and safe driving practices?

    1. Hardly. It’s called “Death by GPS”, and it’s not all that uncommon.

One of the most famous examples was a B.C. couple driving to Las Vegas for a conference; they crossed the U.S. border and vanished. “Oh, those HORRIBLE violent Americans – they’ve met their end at somebody’s evil hands!”

The truth was a little more prosaic. Heading south into Washington and Oregon, they realised they were on the wrong North-South connector, they needed to go East then South, and their GPS happily provided a route. It didn’t mention that the new route degraded into a two-lane, then a gravel road, then a cart track, then an animal runway; and somewhere in the wilds of Nevada their Astro Van, 2WD with street tires, became hopelessly stuck. She stayed with the vehicle and was found alive – just – but he’d left to get help and it was several months before hunters found his body.

You can read about it on Wikipedia – there’s even a case of a guy driving off a fallen bridge! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_by_GPS

  7. Pure coincidence, I don’t know the route to Noida to Faridpur either, but now i know to avoid that bridge!

  8. This is what you call a “smart” navigation system.

Reminds me of another “smart” feature. An acquaintance of mine recently purchased a new car. It has some kind of lane-changing safety device, that actually takes over the steering if you veer out of your lane without signalling. And this mechanism can’t be turned off! No thanks, I’ll stay “dumb” with my own car and appliances.

    1. Yikes that is really dangerous if you had to steer to avoid a collision! To avoid being sued can you show the first letter of the car manufacturer?

  9. The road should have been closed, but the driver should have used his eyes.

Are you not watching the road?
