10 Replies to “Hurricane Helene Aftermath”
I met an old man while fishing the Humber River at Old Mill.
He told me how, during Hurricane Hazel, he helped his fireman uncle and father try to rescue and then find bodies after, right where I was fishing.
He said he was one of the youngest volunteers, with probably the best eyesite, which helped him see tiny hairs standing above the mud flats blowing in the wind which would show where the bodies were resting.
What a shame. That is some BEAUTIFUL country and a beautiful river. And I’ll guarantee you! Not even the most recently updated FEMA maps indicated those buildings were sited too low. A once in several lifetimes event. Sad.
I pray for a swift recovery. Cause I’d like to go fish those waters … if the fish weren’t all swept downstream and killed.
I fondly recall my late father, 50+ years ago, when chastising my siblings and myself for our dirty rooms declaring, “Clean up this mess, it looks like hurricane Hazel went through”.
I just don’t hate winter that much.
Exactly.
Every warm place has hurricanes, earthquakes, volcanos, wildfires, mudslides, tsunamis, or communist governments. California and Hawaii have all of them.
At the very least Canada has wildfires and communist government.
roaddog,
Correct, but you forgot to mention dear leader justin trudeau, our dictator.
I actually watched this vid a few days ago. Impressive recording and story.
The change in landscape is overwhelming!
Rocks and ruts where there were formerly roads!
Side note: a friend that works for Samaritans purse was in NC for a few days, but has returned home.
He is a carpenter by trade so will likely return after cleanup, then help rebuild.
Many personal stories online.
So much devastation!
Friend of mine commented today that people need to finally get the message that when all goes to hell around you, the government is not coming to help you. The incompetent, possibly even malevolent performance by FEMA in the affected areas certainly confirms that conclusion. It wouldn’t surprise me if FEMA management is consulting voter registration records and selectively rescuing liberals.
That’s what DEI is all about. They can honestly say DEI is about people. Crush some, favor those who you can organize to vote for you. The trans bs is based on the principle that the more abhorrent the practices of a target group, the more tightly they will politically bind to you. DEI is about people.
