    1. “It could have been worse; we could have flown her to Calgary.”

      — Saskatchewan Education Minister

    2. Evan Hardy school looks to be about a 5 minutes drive west on College Drive to the U of S University Hospital, which I thought was “the best” hospital in Saskatchewan.
      It’s a 5 hours drive, and a 1 hour air flight, so I assume it’s a 2 hours helicopter flight by Stars…

Is this hospital region trying to advertise how useless it is? Was University Hospital full?

*It could have been worse = she’s not dead…
Has Premier Moe looked at recent provincial polling in Saskatchewan?

  1. “It could have been worse….” This from the Education Minister whom I assume was voted into office, in what universe is this politician living in. Any thinking person knows that any tragic situation could be worse but since when do you open your mouth and say it. Is he really that stupid, if so he should be removed from office?

  2. Here’s the actual quote because people can’t be arsed to read:

“Really just a horrible incident. Nobody goes to school expecting that to happen. Certainly, relieved that nobody was hurt worse than they were. As unfortunate as the situation is, and I know we’ve got people recovering from injuries, I can’t help but think it could have been worse and so I’m glad it wasn’t.”

Not quite as bad as all that. Maybe save your outrage for a situation where a 14-year-old girl had the means and opportunity to carry out an assault of this nature.

    1. Stupidest comment I’ve seen on here in a while. Yes, it could have been worse, it could have been his or your kid.

    2. My first thought is “What is wrong with her parents? How did the assailant end up thinking that violence is the solution to everything?”

    3. Let me interpret … “it” could have been worse means … the 14yo girl could have been shot and killed like in the USA where the “gun culture” suffers mass HS shootings every month. Good for her … she’s only permanently disfigured for life … and now she won’t “steal” anyone’s boyfriend (or girlfriend) EVER again. In fact, everyone will shun the girl with the horrifically scarred face.

  3. L – A political party that promised education funding would follow the student, instead of
the school. That would allow parents to control the quality of education and school safety.
This instead of Cult. Marxists using schooling for political indoctrination and social
experiments! Such a prov. party would garner wide support among parents and grandparents and conscientious teachers.

  4. Stupid boilerplate comments deserve to be shat on. Motive, social media history, medical history of the 14-year-old? I expect it will all go cold-case like the 14-year-old Georgia shooter once we found out he was empathetic to the trans community. That and the school was warned and didn’t respond accordingly, resource offices placed at the school stopped the shooting quickly after it started and the kid’s dad bought him the gun. Man, I don’t know what’s going on in kids heads today but when I was 14, I had Spicoli-like aspirations.

  5. This certainly is a tragic event. All our sorrow and anger doesn’t prevent the next tragedy.

I go with “It could have been worse” from the viewpoint that we need to see how we can fix this or next time it might be 10 dead.

Parents need to do a serious risk assessment. Given the dynamics and constraints within the public school system, the provincial government should turn the funding and education responsibilities over to the parents.

  6. The education minister said: he was “…certainly relieved that nobody was hurt worse than they were…” The cops echoed the statement, saying the situation “…could have been much worse and more out of control if we didn’t gave an officer there right away…”. If you’re going to quote someone, quote them completely and in context or don’t quote them at all.

    1. Ya a bit of over the top outrage there from QDM..quite unlike his response to the Lumsden LGBQT…attempted indoctrination. maybe the minister could have chosen his words a bit differently, but the truth is plainly there. the part about the air lift to Edmonton is disturbing though….AB is not noted for it’s stellar healthcare performance…

      1. Over fifty years in Alberta and found the healthcare system to be quite responsive to my family’s needs. Which province is noted for its stellar healthcare performance?

  7. Believe me I take great solace and comfort knowing that there are readers here who come to the defence of the Education Minister for his statement that “….it could have been worse.” sarc/ OFF! Yes it could have been worse, the school could have been set alight, that is not the point that I was making. I’ve had it with politicians of all stripes and sizes regurgitating the “condolences and prayers” b/s that accompanies all of these horrific tragedies. The point is that these occurrences keep happening and the supposed ‘leaders’ that we elect into office seem to be unable or unwilling to admit that the policies that they endorse may be the very lightening rod that contributes to these atrocities. I’m long in the tooth but when I was young and attending school (circa 50’s and 60’s) there were no school shootings, burnings, assaults, protests or the like. It would appear that we are devolving into a black hole and no one in authority is willing to admit the truth that the system they have endorsed and implemented is failing.

  8. Considering his “what about what the Christians did” response to the vulgar Planned Parenthood A-to-Z sex primer in schools, I’m interested to see QDM’s take on this when the arsonist is revealed to be trans or a spicy religionist.

As others have noted, the “could have been worse” quote is a highly selective extract from what the minister actually said, misleadingly pulled out of context to make it sound dismissive. The fact that QDM fell for it suggests to me that either he does not read or he’s piling on in the slander.

Perhaps QDM is angling for some political ambitions. He’s off to a good start: slag Christians, be OK with sexually vulgar materials in schools, and buying into whatever CTV says to make a conservative look bad. I give it a month before QDM will be fellating Justin.
