Despite her record-breaking college success at Iowa, and the impressive start to her WNBA career with the Indiana Fever, The Athletic claims Clark will not be heading to Paris with Team USA for this summer’s Olympics.

The 22-year-old is bringing more attention to women’s basketball than ever before, with her highly-anticipated debut breaking ESPN viewership records last month.

Nevertheless, it is believed there is no room for her in USA’s Olympic team, which has left Portnoy incensed.

The Barstool Sports chief said in an explosive video rant on X: ‘This is about Caitlin Clark being left off the Olympic team… how dumb are these women?

    Edit: “no one knows why” is not the same as “we know and don’t want to say it out loud” and it’s probably more of the latter.

  4. Were it me, I would post a photo during the Olympics watching it on television and sitting next to Isaiah Thomas (most of you will get that reference). However, here’s the thing. When you throw to the side an athlete of that caliber, it motivates them. And, the same petty vicissitudes motivating the oversight will come back to haunt them.

    All that being said, I can’t get too excited over the politics of the WNBA. It’s a league of patronization where no one told the participants that they are essentially a mediocre junior varsity team. They still haven’t taken up Clay Travis’s $1 Million bet that the best WNBA team couldn’t beat a high quality high school boys team….(which they couldn’t).

        I was shocked to see that, and even more so by ‘her’ voice. I had always assumed, going by the hundreds of media reports, that Brittney Griner was a lesbian basketball player jailed by Russia for drug possession.

        Wrong. Brittney Griner IS A MAN. A so-called ‘transsexual’. And all the news media covered up that fact, for years. Not once did I read any news story stating the actual truth.

  10. In the most recent game where she scored 30 points there were 20,000 fans in the stands – 14,000 more than normal. She’s the Larry Bird of women’s basketball. I won’t be watching women’s Olympic basketball. If she was playing, I might have. She is an amazing player.

  22. Oh, come on. She simply doesn’t have the experience playing at the pro level the way the other girls do. I looked at the list, and I agree with ever one of the choices except for Britney Griner. There are a bunch of better centers in the league, but maybe they will all be playing for other countries.

    I never used to follow the WNBA but then the Aces started doing very well in 2022, so we went and watched a game. As much fun as watching college basketball, and not a thuggery league like the NBA, although I understand the NBA is getting away from jungle/playground ball and glimpses of teamwork are to be had.

    This game is dying like Tennis did. Every court built in condos, is gone, or EMPTY

Just so we’re clear: I have no interest whatsoever in the Lesbian National Basketball Association, and will not watch, follow, nor comment (beyond this declaration); and I expect the Caitlin Clark frenzy will very quickly subside, and most of the rest of the world will return to not watching LNBA basketball.
