    4. Kenji – The thing about religious faith, is that when something happens that confirms your bias or prophecy, that is proof of the validity of your belief system. If something then happens that contradicts your belief system, why that is also proof somehow. I talked to a Californian in the spring about the drought ending and he went on to say how the changes that ended the drought were proof of climate change. As predicted by the prophet Gore no doubt.

        Amazing, isn’t it? I have long fantasized about someone putting hidden cameras in government offices in combination with undercover operatives, to expose just how much ‘work’ is actually done in a day. The unions would go ballistic.

        I have met two people over the years who quit government jobs out of sheer boredom. If it’s your first job out of high school, that’s fine…but if you come from the private sector and are suddenly in an environment where you are actively encouraged to do *as little actual work as possible*, it’s too much of an adjustment for some people to handle.
