Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

They’d look really good in Rockliffe Park and Westmount.
Couple of them would turn Martha’s Vineyard into a Beer Joint.
Toronto, take note.
“Where ever I take my crap
That’s my home….”
You would have to stay home, or some thief might put a hauling master under one end, and a wheeling master the other.
Your little place twould be across town in a few minutes.
Need not call the police, they would be happy to have it gone.

No surprise. Portland is following the downward spiral that Detroit started in the 1960s. Once the fifth larrgest city in the US, Detroit now has barely 660,000.
Portland is going the same way. In 2020, it had a population of 650,000. Now its population is down to 618,000. This means it’s declining by about 3% per year net. As cities decline, the rate of population loss tends to speed up. Long story short: Portland is f**ked. Idiot mayors like Wheeler are only throwing dirt on the already partially buried coffin. It’s simply another case of a socialist city getting what it’s been voting for since 1957.
I saw something like that last summer here in Edmonton on the west end. A guy and his girlfriend/wife were living in it.
I just drove by the “tiny home” project right here in Kelowna, on the main drag (Hwy 97), across from the many car dealerships, not far from the Porsche place by way of juxtaposition. A sight to see, to be sure. Consists of barely glorified Atco trailers with front stoops. Complete with a 6 lane meridian to frolic upon. Row upon row.
It is one of 2 “projects: right here in white man’s playground, with a third in planning.
Meanwhile, in “nicer” areas of Kelowna, one can purchase a condo with a view starting at a price you can’t afford if you ask.
Can you say Fiefdom yet?
Come to the Sunny Okanagan (TM Reg’d) and enjoy a carefree holiday on our beautiful lake.
Stay close to the lake, though, that’s where it’s safest.
Btw, the Mayor just got a $20,000 raise (to $142,000, councillors to $42,000) and the councillors $10,000.
Can’t say it, but if you whistle the tune I could arrange it for a Fief and drum corps…
Colonial architecture.
“This one is quite nice and even has a basketball hoop. “
Yes, how quaint. Idiot.
First: the anti-capitalist NGO’s and government funded “Social Serices” .Org’s. were handing out brand new top of the line tents and rain flys … now, they’re distributing framing lumber and stacks of brand new plywood.
If these “tiny home” encampments under the freeway in Portland are anything like those in Oakland, CA … they’ll all soon go up in flames.

Not a bad idea, actually, just not under freeways. Build free drug centres on vacant government land away from cities, and bus the drug folks there to build their own homes, somewhere near a water source. Maybe a few would take up gardening, trash removal or open a store.
No need for provincial/state building codes or rules. Someone in the community will do something. It worked in the 1700’s, when the Brits were in charge.
Then, the rest of us can enjoy spending 2 million for a small space in a city.
