I’m old enough to remember when you could go to McDonalds and have one teenager to count coins and another in a background who was a fry cook. Why are we plugging in a deep fryer into the internet again?!?!?!?!

Another feather in the cap of a cashless society. Sounds like there was nothing preventing people from going into a store and making a cash purchase, assuming the merchant was wise enough to still take cash.
People put too much faith in stuff like this. It was an upgrade failure. Imagine if it was some sort of nefarious act instead of something going wrong.
The idea that ANY MacDonalds counter staff button pusher can actually calculate the proper change in their head … is laughable. Yeah … AI will eliminate our entire educational system as anyone who can push the right button will be labeled a GENIUS
