Guilbeault’s proposed Clean Electricity Regulations have been slightly modified. This is the Canadian Press story. I’ll be working on this to have a lot more in depth next week.
In my editors note, I point out: Pipeline Online will have extensive coverage on this early next week, including reaction from the Saskatchewan government. The “Clean Electricity Regulations”, if implemented, will be one of the largest and furthest reaching policies in recent Canadian history, impacting almost every aspect of our society and economy.
I should point out the most important lesson I ever learned about government communications came from a first season episode of The West Wing, called Take out the Trash Day.
This announcement from Guilbeault came out early Friday afternoon. Imagine that.

Peter Zeihan makes some sense, kinda sorta, out of Biden’s LNG export approval pause.
And who needs small modular reactors when we can apparently just jump to fusion? Hasn’t fusion power been just 30 years away for something like 60 years?

The stinking rock pile that is green energy.. More bans and mandates from the Greenpeace activist.. Business interests moving in for the free money.. Same ole, same ole..
Here is a rare moment of Little Stevie telling the truth.

Great find.
“And who needs small modular reactors when we can apparently just jump to fusion? Hasn’t fusion power been just 30 years away for something like 60 years”
Just like victory in Ukraine. Another 30 years of multi billion dollar appropriations and we will destroy those peskie Russians.
Frank –
– 1932 was the date of “the first direct demonstration of fusion in the lab”. That would be 90 years ago.
– 1955 “Homi J. Bhabha predicts that fusion will be in commercial use within two decades. This prompts a number of countries to begin fusion research; Japan, France and Sweden all start programs this year or the next.”
– 2021 “China’s Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST),..sustained plasma at 70 million degrees Celsius for …(17 minutes, 36 seconds), achieving the new world record for sustained high temperatures (fusion energy however requires temperatures over 150 million °C)”.
2023 Germany’s “Wendelstein 7-X reached a new milestone: Power plasma with gigajoule energy turnover generated for eight minutes”,
Fusion is currently making wind turbines look reliable.

its always two decades away . can blackymcblackface make the business case for it.
fission is something that is kinda a liiiiiittle bit more intuitive and ‘natural’ sounding.
in really basic terms fission is breaking things.
generally speaking its easier and faster smashing things. its ‘normal’ and common knowledge.
hitting them together hard enough the *stick*.
?
ooooohhhhh. das weird Martha.
l want to get out of here Fred l dont feel right.
anyway. enough of my skit. lve change my mind about fusion generators or cold fusion.
the fine line and control necessary to sustain this strange thing and continue generate and draw only what is called for moment to moment. so the control mechanism must be swift and broad range and flawless.
fission. we know how to do that with connecting rods. because the particles involved are travelling a distance we can insert the rods.
no such rods with fusion happening at the atomic level.
it just doesnt intuitively lend itself to the confidence and trust of going on in hundreds of locations 24/7.
lm not waiting for fusion energy sources to save us.
Brian – The market doesn’t care what the zealots plan to impose, as we’ve seen in the massive shift away from energy transition projects by the super-major energy companies. They can’t make the economics work.
We see another trend emerging: “How a crashing second-hand market slammed the brakes on EVs”:
“The moment for electric cars is now,” proclaimed the website of rental start-up Onto. “Once you get behind the steering wheel and feel what they’re capable of, we know there’s no going back.”
The Warwick-based company matched words with actions, amassing one of Britain’s biggest EV-only fleets with 7,000 cars overall.
Yet today customers are greeted with another message, explaining that Onto Holdings Limited was placed into administration in September.”
“Second hand buyers tend to be less well off; as such they often won’t have off street parking. So what use is an EV to them, however low the price?”

I ABSOLUTELY Love watching the total disintigration of the Vaunted EV Market…Reality BITES..& most often with very very sharp Teeth
AS for the Auto industry as a whole….its also in deep shite. When a new pickup truck is $115,000…?? You’ve simply shut out 95% of potential buyers. That & the unbelievable rates being charged for “service”..??
Calgary $155/hr. (While their top mechanics make maybe $37.50).
However given we are saddled with this most Rotten Vile pile of shite aka Steven Guilbeault, this disgusting LIE of AGW/Man Made Climate Change won’t end until HE is literally & virtually eliminated.
I will celebrate that day, hopefully prior to my passing.
May many piss on his grave.
Yup Guilbeault is a mad man helping Trudeau ruin our economy!! I second the Grave Idea!
Get in line. If it is near Turd # 1, I’ll make it a Duece
He is Canada’s most punchable face.
Far more punchable than Avi Lewis when “interviewing” Ayyan Hirsi Ali.
Good example.
Painful to remember when that little pile of puke was all over CBC.
Steakman – pissing on his grave will be government regulated. You’ll have to fill out a form and book an appointment. Binary people will have to pass a psych exam. Or it could be that people who were given hormone blockers as children, under the current regime, go to the front of the line. I could wait my turn for those poor buggers.
notice all the equally minded idiots swooning over his total bs? Not one of them has the brains to question him so they all want to appear oh so smart and parrot every piece of bs he utters.
Fusion is light years from where it needs to be. So far they’ve managed to boil a bucket of water. And that was in 2022
https://www.cnn.com/us/live-news/nuclear-fusion-reaction-us-announcement-12-13-22/index.html
Brace yourself…phrases and words like “we need to figure out” and “hurdles” get a workout.
“Continued collaboration is essential….”
A comnunication from Goebbels to Quisling circa 1939.
The Green Priest has deemed that the march to poverty will continue and his regime will ensure an army of rent seekers will cheerlead the decline. Isn’t it a comfort to know that all the symbolic idiocy mandated by these Jacobins and Bolsheviks will be nullified 100 times over by the developing world that prefers the prosperity we vote to eliminate. Xi is happy to have such fools in his pocket.
I’m sorry, I didn’t vote for this. In fact, the Western world over, no one voted for Net Zero and mass immigration.
Liberals in Canada and Democrats in the US voted for it
They voted for “free stuff”
Nobody gave Net zero a thought
So, when are “we” going to take up arms against them or do we just submit to the insanity of the majority of Canadian voters (> 55% LPC, NDP, Green)? Or better still tear this Country apart into 4 or 5 smaller more coherent countries.
yes.
Tear it apart.
Quebec can go first
Disagree. Kaybeck can stay, along w/ Morontario, Manitobuh & the Atlantic provinces & go down w/ the ship.
AB & SK first.
Interesting worldwide walk back but as someone said, when liberals surrender, recall WW2 japs emerging from a cave with a white flag and a hand grenade.

WILL JONES 6 FEBRUARY 2024 _ Winning! EU Drops Net Zero Demands After Farmers’ Protests.
Canada will stumble and fumble along until something really breaks and the people wake up to reality. The reality being there is no such thing as “green” energy, and CO2 is not a problem to be solved, and “covid” vaxxes are poison. I won’t hold my breath.
Fusion would be great, but I have serious doubts about whether it can ever be done. The energy needed to contain the reaction would seem to always exceed the energy produced.
the split second reaction time of valving and zero margin of error will always be a problem
I’m sure that the glowing fusion ball will be bright enough to allow a world wide array of solar panels to generate enough energy to contain that fusion ball. It would be self sustaining, at least until it isn’t. /s
It is time to end this BS and genuflecting to “net zero” It is all a huge hoax. Time to push back against the basic shaky foundation. As long as we accept the frame of net zero (I DO NOT) we will be fighting a rearguard action.
“Hasn’t fusion power been just 30 years away for something like 60 years?”
I would point out hat 30 years is about the length of a career, so to ensure a good pension one must aim for a 30 year grant funding process all while leading it the next great thing 30 year development process. It’s the way research and development works today when government gets involved
The Trudeau Liberal-NDP, according to polls, has zero chance of winning the next election. Voters know this. Energy companies know this. Even environmentalists know this. Any legislation Guillbealt pushes through will be reversed by the CPC government.
Energy companies make plans for what is going to happen in the future. Canadian people and businesses are just impatiently waiting for the next election to rid ourselves of this ridiculous, corrupt Trudeau Liberal-NDP government. Only the media and “experts” pretend that any of these net zero policies will survive after the next election.
The Senate and courts might be able to delay the inevitable end to net zero but it will end.
Will a new government reverse it? We got to where we are by previous Con governments not overturning everything the Libs did
Rusty, your question is a good one. LC is correct here. The socialist coalition is doomed to defeat in the next election. I think there are two key policies that the CPC need to demolish:
1. the carbon tax;
2. the Liberal grip on the legacy media.
Both are complex and will need a good deal of work. Item 1 is one of the principal reasons that food prices have risen so dramatically in hte past few years. It has also had an economic recession effect. What may be critical is how heavily it impacts the federal budget deficit when it’s canceled. A new CPC government is likely going to have to cut back on federal spending.
Item 2 is in principle simple by revoking Trudeau’s handouts to the legacy media. But this is caught up in how to deal with the cesspool called CBC. Dealing with the CBC defies any simple solutions. Taking it apart will be very bloody politically, as the Ceeb has lots of low information allies within Canada.
CGH –I suggest cut 100% of their funding and let them go——No help–no funding! I have a feeling they would be dust in 2 years!
If by some Devine miracle they survive their program would have to be 100% different!
Keith, you would get no objection from me in cutting it all completely. This is a crown corporation that is more than 90 years old. It’s long since violated its mandate of speaking to ALL Canadians and has become a cesspool of socialism. We know that CBC would be junk in two years because it has the lowest viewership of any TV network in Canada.
I’m simply warning everyone that doing the right thing will be politically bloody as Ceeb has lots of supporters. But it can be done; Harper dismantled one crown corporation long overdue for dismemberment and burial. If the government has a plan, it can do it. But it will take the entirety of a four-year mandate to do it. And there will be a huge amount of howling from the left.
But if Poilievre has the mandate and the voting support in the next election, the Ceeb and its American CEO should be sardines on toast. And the best part is we could kick the fat butt of Rosie Barton to the curb.
Yea sure butter cup, the lib/NDP EV policies are lying in a puddle of rubble. That bunch of fruit loops lurch forward with one tax payer funded scam after the other, every single Justine policy has been an utter failure.
Dead governments crawling don’t get to decide energy policy for decades, particularly these watermelon weasels.
Let them hide from voters, but not from reality or the totalitarian notion of energy poverty here and everywhere.
Meet Steven the Lecturer.
An utter failure as a man and a human being.
this cretin knows an enormous amount of what is not so.
And nearly nothing of what is.
A classic Progressive Comrade.
Educated way beyond its own intelligence.
And this kind of idiot demands the right to rule over us.
It actually believes the place of government,is to mandate your day to day decisions.
The likes of Steven know that they are “The smartest person” in any room.
Never having produced a single item of benefit to another human,Steven knows how all others shall live…
Short form?
Just another Liberal.
Lots of articles in the last few weeks about the “breakthroughs” in reaction energy in the fusion experiments.
Take for example the NIF recording that their fusion target produced more energy than what hit it. So as long as you ignore that it took about 400 times more energy to power the facility for that one shot, and also doesn’t include any of the energy of the lasers that missed, We are one stop closer to fusion.
The other one was the Fusion reactor in england that measured “record breaking” output from their fusion reaction of 69 megajoules in the JET reactor, but again, they aren’t providing how much energy was inputted to get that output over 5 seconds. For reference, if you were able to get a 100% conversion out of the reactor, you would get a whopping 19.1667 KW/h, and we won’t get anywhere near that conversion rate. Somewhere near the end of the articles on the JET reactor, you might see a line that these reactors aren’t big enough to get any usable energy out of them, which is why the facility is shutting down after 40 years.
So until we see massive breakthroughs, Fusion is tomorrow’s energy, and will be for the next 20 years.
Quite right; none of them have produced Net Energy. Tokamak de Varennes was supposed to do that, but at the rate it’s going ITER will never be completed. It’s supposed to have first plasma in 2025. It’s scheduled for first D-T operation in 2035. I will quite happily make bets against it achieving these dates. ITER is as big a failure as the Lawrence Livermore laser fusion array.
Spring election, please!!
Not until Singh gets his 6 years clocked up.
Can’t we just go back to turning base metals into gold? It has an established track record and roughly equivalent results.
While we’re at it has any of our media betters followed up on that $10M the Black-faced Groper threw with great fanfare at a company claiming to be making a quantum computer all those years ago? Naw, didn’t think so.
All this talk about getting rid of CBC and Liberals is based on a fair, equal, and just election.
Sorry, that is three strikes against us.
Canada has striked out before the game/election has even started.
