I don’t know what the exact ratio is, but the batteries will be much heavier than gas tank + engine etc. E-trucks will be able to carry much less. Imagine the inflation that will result from that.

A couple of weeks ago a WSJ journo spent some time with a trucker and his new EV rig. Apparently California has mandated all new licensed rigs must be of the EV type. In bobtail mode, ie without a trailer, they can maneuver more easily into charging stations. Whereas before he could go 1000 miles after 15 minutes of filling with diesel the same trip requires 6 stops and hours of charging.
So they park the trailer while the tractor is recharged, and then they can pick up their now empty trailer.
I fail to see the problem, joe. The rig’s range will improve significantly after the cargo is stolen.
What are they planning for hazardous materials transportation? There’s a reason why diesel tractors are used to deliver (pump) flammable liquids, and not just gasoline.
Giving a maniac the wheel usually leads to death and that’s no accident.
