  1. Back in the day when the Medical Services Plan in British Columbia charged a monthly health care fee, you had the option of paying a little extra to get a 2 bed semi-private room in the hospital, instead of a 4 bed ward.

    Well, those days are long gone. My wife is into her third day parked in the hallway on the 6th floor of Victoria General Hospital. There were four other patients stuck there too, when I was there yesterday. No privacy, and she can’t even escape to the lounge – it is used for the various devices that were formerly left in the hall.

    I greeted her yesterday by saying “Welcome to the third world”. She was crying.

        1. joe we pay a hell of a lot more than Americans. If you spread the tax burden out per capita along with the millions of dollars that are contributed to the many medical organizations it would shock the average Canadian, and if they had to pay the actual cost most would be bankrupt or dead.

          1. VOWG – you are dead on – Many friends moved to the states and purchased good health insurance – it is/was about 1/3 of what we pay in taxes in Canada.

            The US spends about $12,000 per person per year on health care. Canada spends about $6,500.

            In the US per person yearly expenditure on health care varies significantly by state; from $16,700 (New York) to $8770 (Utah)

            But for those who believe health care is better in the US and cheaper, the answer is real simple: move to the US.

            The more money you make, the more you pay for the same level of service.

      1. Joe, you don’t need to live in the US. The Canadian system routinely sends Canadaian patients down to the US for treatmemt due to excessive wait times, etc, so you are already paying for that.

        Don’t kid yourself, a version of the payee system is coming to Canada. Our current system is failing and is one major event/outbreak away from collapse(COVID has proved this out).

          I’m not suggesting you move. But if you move to the US your taxes I’m told by repondents at SDA that your taxes will be lower.

          I’m not sure if that’s true, based on comments from friends who lived in Texas and who also lived in Alberta. They tell me income taxes were lower, but local taxes (municipal) were much higher.

    What many of us have long known has been proven true…these people are being *paid* to attend anti-Israel protests. I mean, we always knew that they were being bussed in and had professionally produced signage and such, but actually being paid cash takes it to another level entirely.     1. Yes,it is likely they could handle double their rated capacity. It’s called a margin of safety. And it would work most of the time. But almost any product run at maximum capability will have a much higher probability of catastrophic failure.

      1. And that is why AI cannot be trusted because it does not understand margin of safety – it is incapable of making correct judgement calls.

        It is like a frat boy that wants the 40 beer patch in engineering and doesn’t realize the danger of drinking that much beer in a short time. Oh, yes, others have survived the self-inflicted ordeal, but if you do it on a regular basis, you will end up in the ER or the morgue at some point.

      But if they are charged, the judge will dismiss those charges, or impose no penalties.

    1. The only reason Epps was charged and given a sham trial was double jeopardy. So a Republican attorney general couldn’t send him to the big house for 20 years.

    1. Thanks for the link. There are none so blind as those that will not see, would be my comeback. They want economic chaos because that is the goal. Therefore, they don’t care how much pain they cause as long as the system collapses.

      They are malicious and malevolent, seeking their version of Utopia by any means necessary, the more corpses the better.

    1. It still not anywhere near where it would’ve been. Russia had a deep 16 month recession.

      Don’t forget they have 16% interest and sky high inflation. This is by design, if you sign up for the very special military operation they will freeze all of your interest.

      1. Orgrimmar inflation is interesting, at least in mid 30%, Hanke at John Hopkins estimates it a 50-60%, meanwhile prime is at 16% meaning mortgagers at 18-20% and credit cards above that. Now imagine taking in debt on a flexible rate a year ago or so when prime was at 5%… add to this ninja credits (people taking separate high intertest loans) for down payment… This will end one way only. People at Kremlinka Show (in Polish) have been warning about this sing last spring, now mainstream western sources begin to notice.

    2. Facepalm. Ok here is the first macroeconomic equation you get in Econ 101:

      GDP=C+I+G+(X-M).

      C= consumption
      I = investment
      G = government expenditure
      (X-M) = trade balance

      C, I, (X-M) took a nosedive. G went up. G went up so much that GDP went up (according to Rostat hence bullshit to begin with but anyway).

      Why G went up? Because military expenditure. Expenditure is down everywhere except for military (by double digits). You build a bomb and G and hence GDP goes up. Bomb explodes., GDP does not go down. See how it works?

      In 1944 and 45 German GDP was growing, same result, same phenomenon.

      And again, all this is ignoring the big elephant in the room, namely that all official russian stats are cooked up and bullshit anyway.

      Hence concludes the remedial economics lesson. Now STFU and do your homework.
