  1. How much taxes has our earth first government promised to subsidize car companies to build these batteries in Canada? What would you do with your share $1,250.00?

  2. They don’t put them on the boats with full batteries.. That gift is for your garage at home.. Even then they recommend you dont charge above 80%.. The final 20% takes as long as the first 80% did.. It’s also the danger zone for fires.. So let’s get less range because it takes too long and it also might burn..

Face it.. Pushing the range and making them as affordable as possible is a dangerous game.. A big disaster parking lot or pileup will happen and the EV companies will end up in court rather than your parking space..

The KNEW they were dangerous and they pushed them anyways.. Remind you of anything?..

  3. Third ship that this has happened to…

not sure what the CO2 would do if it’s an actual lithium battery fire/thermal runaway event….

    1. Li-ion battery fires are NOT metallic lithium fires. They happen because the electrolyte is a flammable liquid, and because even at a low charge, there is enough energy around to ignite the electrolyte upon even the slightest bit of damage.

  4. You know, it they sink that ship in 100 feet of water the batteries will keep burning anyway…

    1. That’s pretty rare. While it is true that the breaking down of the electrolyte can result in flammable gasses, usually copious amounts of water bring the fire to well below ignition temperatures.
      These are not lithium fires.

      1. I’ve read that the new plan for fire departments is to drag the burning e-vehicle into a dumpster, fill it with water and leave it there for several weeks. Because it you let it dry out, it will go on fire again.

  5. Wonderful, did it ever occur to our liberal betters what happens when those batteries filled with toxic rare earth minerals end up in our dirt, water and air?

    1. Notice that the article says two contradictory things … first: it was stated that no crew member died or was injured, then: the article stated the Coast Guard was administering first aid to the crew.

Yeah … I’m sure breathing the burning electrolytic fire is just a small price we all have to pay for a *cough* *cough* (because inhaling toxic smoke) … “clean, green, future”

  6. Yes, but they are necessary until the ICE vehicles are off the road. After that, the Greens will “discover” the environmental foot print of battery cars and get rid of them too. Those that survive will be happy in their 15 minute urban cubicles eating bugs and goo and their shortened lifespan. At least, that’s the “plan”.

  7. After reading the article I went to the Marine Traffic site to see where this ship was being directed to. Dutch Harbour is at the far end of the Aleutian Islands. If this ship was travelling from Vietnam to San Diego across the central Pacific sea lanes, why direct it to Dutch Harbour? Interesting minds would like to know. While we’re on the subject check the maritime traffic here:

then check the air traffic here:

Now tell me why any politician in his right mind would think that the carbon tax I pay on a litre of gas is going to cool the planet! To all of you Liberals, Dippers and Greenies that voted for these poofters, con men, and scam artistes believing the BS they were spoon feeding you, I urge you to get your New Years booster ASAP, in the long run you’ll be saving the planet.
