    My simple question to the numerous schweinie-lovers here, who think like the Useful Idiot in the video (Ramaswamy who said that the biggest danger was pushing Russia into the arms of China): What can Russia possibly give China that China doesn’t have already?

    I mean, Russia is extremely backward technologically (they can’t even pump their oil and gas efficiently without foreign tech)… heck, they can’t even make cars with automatic gearboxes without foreign tech (by comparison, in the United States, over 80% of new cars had automatic transmission by 1957, which is nearly 70 years ago). Russia is also insignificant economically (its share in global economy is around 1 or 2 percent), so what is it that makes it a valuable asset for China or anyone else?

    Large territory? China doesn’t need it, since their population is in decline.
    Natural resources? Everything China could get in Russia and much more they can get in Africa, which the Chinese have successfully colonised.
    Easily controlled population that can be sent to fight any war, regardless of whose interests it serves? I don’t think it’s much of an asset either, as the Chinese population is an order of magnitude greater and their government seems to have pretty control over them, so they can probably find enough of their own for any war they could realistically want to fight.
    A market for the Chinese goods? Again, the Russian population is an order of magnitude smaller than the Chinese, so I don’t think it will make any difference for anyone (and besides, China already has virtually unrestricted access to the Russian market, e. g. most cars sold in Russia are now Chinese).

    So what is it, then? Just name one single important thing (bracing myself for an outpour of stupidity from the likes of Kenji).

China has a shortage of women and Russia now has a shortage of men because a lot were either sent to the war in Ukraine or fled to avoid being sent there and in the border regions, Russian women, apparently, already prefer hard-working and generally sober Chinese to degenerate Russian alkies who can only do their work with one hand because they have to hold a bottle of vodka in the other one. So, is it the very reason why the West should vie with China for Russia, the Russian surplus female population?

          1. There was a great video on this from LazerPig who called out the T-34 as totally overrated and backed his case very strongly. The design wasn’t even bad, just kinda not as good as the Sherman, but the tanks that actually came out of the factory in the real world were usually terrible. The T-34 did not come out of Stalin’s womb to turn the Nazis back at Stalingrad. There were lots of them in the field when the Germans turned on Russia and they got torn up.

          2. Ok, sort off mostly agree. LzerPig is fun and I like his content but treat it with a grain of salt.

            He is right about the argument that pre war T-34 had all the hard stats and none of the soft stats and the severally limited its effectiveness. Early war emergency T-34s were even worse, by early 1943 came considerable upgrades (among them the functional hexagonal turret and then finally a three man turret with the T-34/85). 1944/45 were generally decent but the design itself was approaching obsolesce. Post war production /85s had the same deign but much better production standard and something rather positive happened to the quality of their armor plate (see Korea why). The thing about T-34 that it evolved slower than the anti tank weapons it was facing, so when quality caught up the design started to seriously lag. They even considered abandoning it in 43 and replacing it with T-43. That idea was abandoned because production constraints, but by last months of the warT-44 entered service and soon after T-54. So soviets well understood that they were in need of more potent tanks.

            Similar thing happened with Americans who kept pumping out Shermans (at every year since introduction better than corresponding T-34 models) rather than moving towards more advanced designs.

    5. B-2 – I am not sure if I agree with Ramaswamy but I can think of a couple of arguments to support his hypothesis:
      1. World reserve currency – the US has it now and reaps immense benefit from it. It will lose that status someday and that day couldn’t come fast enough for China. Russia, with massive oil and gas reserves, would be an important ally for that cause.
      2. Energy – China has an almost insatiable appetite for energy and can’t keep its massive population warm and fed and compliant without it. Russia has lots of cheap energy available.
      3. Influence – take everything you’ve said about China and Russia and replace it with USA and Vietnam in 1955. If one follows your logic one would conclude the US, at the height of its power and influence, would never send troops to Vietnam. Yet they did. Or, replace China and Russia with China and Taiwan today. Yet they will. So it appears.

      1. 1. Spoken already: the influence of Russia on world economy is completely negligible, get over it. They have already attempted a “dedollarization” and it didn’t work well for them; they just ended with lots of moneys (mostly Indian rupiahs) that they have nowhere to spend. And they still need solid currency which is why their own wooden rubble now costs just 0.01 USD apiece.
        2. Spoken already: they can’t even pump their oil and gas efficiently without foreign tech AND the foreigners are pulling out. Halliburton has pulled out, Schlumberger has pulled out, Exxon has pulled out. Do you think the alkie quadrupeds are capable of developing technology that will keep their energy cheap? Think again. I don’t believe China will be able to help them much either; the Chinese are not known to have a lot in that field.
        3. Don’t follow you here: are you saying that China will attempt to take over Russia for the same reasons as China would invade Taiwan and the US supported South Vietnam (even though the reasons are totally different)? Anyway my point is, if China wants to take over Russia, let them do so. I don’t see why it would be a problem in the West.

  6. Even countries like India and UAE are already light years ahead of Russia in space exploration. The only significance of Russia was, indeed, the Soyuz spacecraft that could get people to and from the Space Station. The same Soyuz that was created under the watchful eye of Brezhnev in 1960s.

    1. March 2022 a trio attempted to steal my Grand Cherokee Trailhawk at 7am on a Saturday morning. Bright, clear and very cold day following a few days of melt, my driveway was a little slippery.

      I interrupted them in the act, the lead guy ran for their vehicle (Que plated Caddy), the fatassed tech boy was in the passenger seat and already had the under dash cover sliced off and had disconnected the center console devices prior to connecting to reprogram, the non-white chick with the special head covering was in the driver seat.

      I’m not a little guy, got a bit of bulk. When I can screaming out of the house and yanked the passenger door open the fatass exited quickly clutching his computer and wires and promptly slipped on the ice and fell into the snowbank. Scrambling to hold onto everything he lost his sweatpants and had to pick himself up and escape running down the road with his bare ass and other gear blowing in the cold breeze. Non-white chick in the special headgear was smart enough to get out and run.

      Cops told me I could have “defended” myself and nailed bare-ass while he was down. I told them I didn’t because of the way others had been persecuted. (the process is the punishment). Cost a couple of hundred to repair and put everything back togeather, but I didn’t lose my car. I’ll be damned if I’ll let someone steal from me.
