August 15, 2023: Reader Tips

Tonight, I’d like to share the joke I most commonly tell these days: Why are so many tech companies insisting on tech workers returning to the office?  So their mid-level managers can justify their existence.

If that doesn’t resonate with you, then hopefully this golden oldie will.

Tips, TIps, Tips – that’s what we want!

“Curiously, just days before Barack Obama left office, his administration’s Department of Homeland Security used the specter of “Russian interference” in the 2016 election as an excuse to declare election systems to be a part of that critical infrastructure. As a result, the stage was set to roll election systems into FirstNet…. the team realized that the federal government has indeed created a nationwide network that is capable of collecting and changing real-time voting data at polling places across the country from a central location. “

  2. I’m wondering if the push to get workers back into the offices is mainly to protect the landlords’ rental returns.

    1. I am sure Herr Trudeau and Fraulein Freeland have the solution by expanding their Medical Assistance in Dying program for Old Stock Canadians.

  3. Just in case this hasn’t made the radar (for Allan S in particular)

There is now proof in Michigan, from official government sources, that there was a very highly organized ballot harvesting operation during the last federal election. First the article from the American Thinker:

    It is no longer speculation.

  4. Robert Kennedy Jr is interviewed by Tucker in Episode 16.
The man is a walking history book.
Forget the media and White House lies about Russia/Ukraine.
Kennedy explains it clearly starting with events of 1992.

If you have even a reasonable maturity level, a working brain and a modicum of integrity (no, not you, Simpletons ™…I’m talking to the adults right now) listening to Kennedy speak on this issue will make you angry. He really does cut through the BS, and you can ‘fact check’ him all you want…he’s not wrong.

  5. So, Robert, you think there should be no mid-level managers? You think it’s easy being a manager when your employees are all over the country, spending half the day doing groceries and working on their house? Managers should simply be able to send in the drones to verify the work is being done? Or they should simply compare the work delivered by the one guy doing little work to all of the other guys doing little work?

I’m the last guy to say that companies need to have lots and lots of managers. At the same time, the burden that employees working all over the place, wherever and however they wish, is a huge burden on managers and guys like you are an absolute laugh to declare otherwise.

If you want to work without oversight, start your own company. And then you can pay lots of other people money with no oversight as well.

    1. Mid-level managers could be cut out of public service by approximately 90% and not a single person would notice. Health care & education included.

And, managers should be able to give employees 1 week notice to get their asses back in the office or they’re fired, sans retirement benefits.

      End of problem.
