   I first stumbled across the St. Francis dam about 10 years ago, and couldn’t believe that there was no national memory of it like there was of the Johnstown, PA dam failure. If one reviews the history of the Los Angeles water supply, and the particulars of the St. Francis dam, it’s clear there was a deliberate cover-up. The “powers that be” couldn’t afford to have sympathy expended on the victims of the dam disaster, or the water theft from Owens Valley.

   The other interesting thing is there’s still a near twin of the St. Francis dam in existence – the aptly named “Mulho;;and Dam” in Hollywood.

   The idea of unavoidable ground movements from your mother Earthquakes and landslides.
   Notice the deaths always occur in the middle of the night while you’re all snug in your bed?
   Sheesh !

   1. Not always in the middle of the night. The Johnstown flood (worst ever in the US) happened at about 3:00PM on May 31, 1889
