Down The Primrose Path

A thread by Franz-Stefan Gady;

@konrad_muzyka , @RALee85 , @KofmanMichael, & I spent some time this month visiting the frontlines in Ukraine to gain new insights into the ongoing counteroffensive & the war overall. Here are some general observations… we spoke to NCOs, officers, a number of brigade commanders (national guard & regular army) in the field plus senior intel & defense officials in Kyiv.

[…]

The narrative that Ukrainian progress thus far is slow just because of a lack of weapons deliveries and support is monocausal & is not shared by those we spoke to actually fighting & exercising command on the frontline.

      1. Or, as is more likely, escalate with the use of tactical nukes. But you can give Russia a call to convince them that the West has only peaceful intentions. Convince me this isn’t about controlling global oil supply and depopulation.

        1. Yawn, botfarms have been crying about nukes and “escalation” ever since the the three day war started year and half ago. Chicom masters already told their Muscovy lapdog that he is not allowed to use nukes. If tactical nukes were used (and we only talking about tactical not strategic … unless you have forgot your pills in which case take them) it would be suicide for orcs.

      2. Sure that would work and then Ukraine could be the flower of non corrupt, freedom and democracy that Zelenskyyyyyy wants to nourish.

  1. Well, duh. There simply wasn’t enough shaping operations beforehand. However, currently Ukraine is doing an amazing job at attrition. The amount of artillery systems they are destroying is unreal. Many videos can be found on Telegram, they’re always direct hits on the first try. Many think they’ve switched to using HIMARS as counterbattery. Directly linked to the radar and automated.

Before all the “experts” say Ukraine shouldn’t bother, where were you when it took Russia 10 months to take Bakhmut?

    1. The Russian attempt to seize Kyiv on 24 February 2022 failed miserably because the Ukrainians confounded everybody’s expectations, mostly notably the Kremlin’s.

The “special military operation” has continued to fail ever since.

      1. It’s been a year and a half of Russian fail. They simply can’t win. But I guess Putin needs to pretend it’s a winnable fight and not a massive Russian L or he’s toast.

        1. “It’s been a year and a half of Russian fail. They simply can’t win.”

They have already won. All they need to do now is sit back behind their fortifications and let the Ukrainians hurl more human waves to the slaughter.

Einsteins definition of insanity applies here: doing the same thing over and over but expecting a different result. Idiocy. You can either negotiate peace now or when most of the male Ukrainians between the ages of 16 and 60 are DEAD. Your choice.

          1. Freddie from BBC connects again from the alternative reality, where orcs failures are their greatest victories.

          2. Which objectives has Putin achieved? He has failed to achieve regime change and demilitarization in Ukraine. He has exposed the Russian military as utterly impotent even against a small neighboring state. He has triggered a brain drain on a massive scale. He has caused immense economic damage. And for what? Trivial territorial gains on the pre 2022 borders that will soon likely be fully reversed.

If that’s winning, I’d sure hate to see losing…

        2. Yes very much so. Clearly Pootin would have never invaded had knew where this blunder would lead him. He is looking for some kind of an out that he could sell to orcs as success (he can sell anything to half of SDA as success already).

    2. As usual you’re more optimistic than I am. I think you’re somewhat right, right 60% right, if that makes sense. Certainly, Ukrainians have gained more land in the last six weeks than orcs in the last six months. Certainly Ukrainian “offensive” is doing better than orc winter “offensive” . But so far, orc defensive operation has been their most successful operation of the war. In comparison to earlier blunders they have learned some of their lessons, and so far, despite suffering (usually for them) disproportionate loses they prevented any kind of breakthrough. This si surprising as russian doctrine has always been all about offense and not much about defense.

How long can they last? Hard to say. Orcs have two reserve armies. The 6th and the 1st Guards. At least about half of the 6th is probably already engaged. The 1st is their Forlom Hope in case of global war, or rather two thirds of it is. Two heavy armored divisions are (or used to be) the most elite heavy formation in orc forces* , by all accounts not engaged so far, plus one mech division, multiple elements of which are, already engaged. So their strategic reserves are getting slowly drained. Ukrainians by all accounts have thrown into battle about a third of their reserves. Who will prevail is unclear at the moment… but orcs even in defense are suffering disproportionate loses which is frankly amazing.

*The First Guards was stopped and bled heavily and then pushed back by a forces about a sixth its size at Chernihiv (films will be made about that stand). But that was the magnificent Ukrainian 1st Armored Independent Brigade that hasn’t been thrown into the current offensive yet. No wonder orcs talked about genetically modified (i.e. not suffering from fetal alcohol syndrome) after that battle.

  2. This is starting to sound a lot like World War I. Historically, a nation has about 3 years to either win a war or at least demonstrate that victory is imminent. Once you go beyond that point with no end in sight, morale will tank and the financial burden will sap the willingness to continue. We’re now into year 2 and victory for either side is as distant as ever.

    1. Historically, that seems to be a load of BS, especially if you have delusional leaders…

    2. There’s no winning here unless fighting to the last Ukrainian is a win. Russia is losing men, Ukraine is being demolished. It needs to end but people like Allan are willing to have it go on forever, if necessary.

      1. Thomas if they try hard enough maybe they will get rid of the billions that the “covid’ vax was supposed to.

      2. “There’s no winning here unless fighting to the last Ukrainian is a win. Russia is losing men, Ukraine is being demolished. It needs to end but people like Allan are willing to have it go on forever, if necessary.”

They also seem blissfully oblivious to the fact that the great Ukrainian ‘counteroffensive’ has been a dismal failure. They lost *tens of thousands* of people and who knows how much equipment to gain 5km of the 60km that they were hoping for. Russia is so heavily dug in that they are just sitting back and laughing as they watch the show. Ukraine responded by firing a couple of missiles at a bridge…big deal.

This can only end one way, and everyone knows it (wishful thinking is not an actual strategy, sorry). You can only run around and kidnap teenagers to send to the front until you either run out of teenagers or until someone gets some good video of it and exposes it to the world.

        1. Orcs storming Bahmut for nine moths = great orc victory.
Ukrainians gaming many times the ground in six weeks = great orc victory.
          Keep digging.

      3. Yes, as long as Ukrainians agree to peacefully be herded to gulag orcs will win. Ukraine already won survival, you dolt. Ukraine already won membership in Western Hemisphere. Russian Mir is dead. Transnistria will be cleaned out. Baltic belongs to NATO. Orgrimmar is a Chicom vassal state (a younger sister as Xi called them, find out the significance of that). And of course orc losses have been much higher than Ukrainian.

        1. Colonialista, your constant use of “orcs”, “mongols”, and the like, truly diminish your contribution here. You seem to know a lot (albeit perhaps from mostly one side) and could potentially help us all to get a better picture of what is going on.
However, your hate blinds you, and makes you look like a fanatic.

          1. Ocs, Siberian Mongols, Huns, Gooks, Charlie, Haji, Japs, it is a long tradition that I do not intend to abandon in PCville.

    3. Actually the similarities to ww2 are much better. Repeating the Munich agreement would be a mistake.

  3. This war would never have started if Ukraine would have accommodated Russia and the ethnic Russians in Ukraine. Sevastopol could have been leased; Crimea and Donbas regions could have been allowed some degree of self government.
Western interests interfered and drove a wedge between Ukraine and her best interests WRT Russians. Ukraine would be free and thriving today if the duplicitous West hadn’t interfered. I’m half Ukrainian.

Exactly right. Well said. 80% of Crimea is ethnically Russian and 20% of Russians have relatives in Ukraine.

      I’ve said it before: Russia=Canada and Ukraine=Quebec.

END THE SLAUGHTER. Profits can be replaced…lives cannot.

(and yes, there are *huge* profits being made on the backs and suffering of the Ukrainian people…a few of the dimwits who keep posting here urging the continuation of the death and destruction (and you know who you are) would do well to recognize that fact)

      1. “Russia=Canada and Ukraine=Quebec.”

That makes no sense at all.

Has it occurred to you that a) Québec is not a sovereign state and that b) Canada has not invaded it?

You and “dollops” need to try much, much harder if you’re going to convince anyone that Russia is somehow the aggrieved party in all of this – rather than a foreign invader whose military incompetence resulted in a bungled attempt to overthrow the Ukrainian government.

        Good luck!

        1. ““Russia=Canada and Ukraine=Quebec.”

That makes no sense at all.

Has it occurred to you that a) Québec is not a sovereign state and that b) Canada has not invaded it?”

It’s called a metaphor…it doesn’t need to be perfect. But fine,…how about Ukraine = Canada and Crimea/Donbas = Quebec? Do you like that one better?

“You and “dollops” need to try much, much harder if you’re going to convince anyone that Russia is somehow the aggrieved party in all of this”

I’ve done no such thing. I have no admiration or love for Vladimir Putin…I just feel the same way about the corrupt Zelensky and Biden (and their backers), and wish that civilians didn’t have to pay the price for their exploitation and profiteering. Cold-hearted, unfeeling people are making BILLIONS of dollars here by dragging this conflict out with *zero* concern for the lives being lost, and unlike you I consider that to be despicable behavior. You think it’s just fine as long as ‘orcs’ and ‘subhumans’ are being killed, right?

” – rather than a foreign invader whose military incompetence resulted in a bungled attempt to overthrow the Ukrainian government.”

They are not that, either. The short version is that Ukraine had a perfectly good and democratically-elected government that was overthrown for political *and financial* reasons…after which they proceeded to start killing people who disagreed with that coup. If I support a “foreign invader” you support Nazis and mass-murderers.

          “Good luck!”

To you too. The difference is, I will end up on the ‘winning’ side here (to the extent that there can be such a thing in this case) when the *inevitable* negotiations begin. You will be making excuses for why you got it so wrong.

      1. Yep, exactly that. Several here are. There is about ten new “regulars” that were never here until orcs invaded Ukraine. And they keep regurgitating the same phrases. They come and go in waves. But like I said before, ever since FSB took over Prigozhin’s bot farm the quality went down dramatically. He clearly was way better at it than Shoigu.

  4. If Ukraine sued for peace, it’s likely that Russia would insist on a Russia-friendly puppet in Kiev instead of the US puppet clown who would retire to his Florida mansion and live off of the 3/4 billion of US cash he absconded along with his cronies (Generals). Allan and Colonialist might be able to catch his shows in Vegas. Russia might patriate the Donbas but would likely leave the ethnic Ukrainian areas (Western Ukraine) alone as they wouldn’t be governable but Putin would ensure no NATO expansion via the Ukraine.

Or, the US / NATO could continue to arm the Ukrainian conscripts until they run out of them or until Lindsey Graham convinces Biden to escalate to WW3 as by then NATO will have started to fall apart. Hungary and Germany would likely be the first to get out.

  5. I see the war lovers are reading my posts because they just can’t let them go but, not sorry to say, I just scroll past theirs. All they do is call people names who disagree with them. Your Ukraine flag won’t get you into heaven anymore. Pax John Prine.

    1. The warmongers are the people who believed Iraq had undeclared WMD and that Ukraine has committed an 8 year genocide.

  6. Young Ukrainians Scared To Leave Their Homes As More And More Videos Emerge Of Forced Conscription
As Ukraine’s manpower on its frontlines starts to dwindle, military leaders are becoming increasingly desperate to locate new recruits to propel its counteroffensive against Russia forward; however, the number of young people volunteering for such a challenge has plummeted.
The brutal mobilization by Ukrainian military recruitment officers of young men has been occurring for a year and a half now, Hungarian newspaper Magyar Nemzet reports.

  8. He really thinks I’ll bother to read his posts. I won’t. Fool me once and all that.

  9. Too many are easily misled by the psyops being waged on us by our own governments. The Globalist/NATO end goal is the destruction of Russia which they hope to achieve by using Ukraine as a battering ram. As far as I’m concerned and from hearing from family who reside in both Russia and Ukraine, our worse nightmare is about to come true. NATO may succeed in destroying Russia, but in doing so guarantees the destruction of all western nations, including the US and Canada.

We should be praying for peace and remembering in our prayers those who have died from both sides of the conflict.

Alan, Colon and the rest. If you can’t post an intelligent argument/rebuttal as to why you disagree with me, then do not bother doing so. Insults only belittles whatever arguments you may have.

    1. I have already posted a lot more substance in this thread that anyone else. You on the other hand have posted nothing but generic claptrap. None of what you have said is remotely original. All have been addressed ad nauseum. Your entire frame of refence is so absurd that it cannot be considered genuine. I am more than certain that you are a bot.

  10. The only good thing about this war is that in the end it will separate the idiots from the prescient.

    1. “The only good thing about this war is that in the end it will separate the idiots from the prescient.”

Especially here. Can’t wait to see them all scurry away with their tails between their legs…

      1. Bitch, I have been here for a decade or so, long before the war has started. I am not going anywhere. You on the other side will probably leave with the rest of the bots.

        1. “Bitch, I have been here for a decade or so, long before the war has started. I am not going anywhere. You on the other side will probably leave with the rest of the bots.”

          Dream on, loser.
