   Nowhere in the article does it state that. It states that the US is preparing for all possibilities.

      1. The losing side does not get to determine how the conflict ends. The victorious side does that. It will interesting to see what concessions Putin demands. All the Russian assets that were stolen plus interest and penalties will be only the tiniest tip of the iceberg. All the contested territories plus a permanent buffer zone sliced out of Ukraine are almost certain. Who knows how much more?

   Most of the users continue to purport to be adherents to individual freedoms and the self determination of nations.
   But in this case they support Putin, a tyrant who eliminates the freedoms of individuals in another nation and who desires to extend the Russian empire to past borders.

   The ONLY principled thing the US left has done in the last 20 years is to stand up for Ukraine. Sure they are driven by the Military Industrial Complex – but that bunch of crooks will find a war to spend money on EVEN WHEN UKRAINE IS VICTORIOUS!

         Meanwhile a nicely run war is a great place to “lose the evidence” and murder the locals who know too much.

      Congressman Dan Crenshaw explains these pro-Russia/anti-Ukraine viewpoints that even he sees with a certain segment of the US Congress as simply folks wanting to be contrarian.

      It’s like some people forget that they live in the west in NATO aligned countries and have to pick a side. Russia is no friend of the west.

      Contrarians have existed throughout history in the west. There were those that defended the iron curtain for instance and then curiously shut up when it fell. Useful idiots indeed.

He rails against others for their tepid support of Trump, but two conservative vote tracking sites hold him only slightly above Cheney. So I’ll not be judging this book by its cover. But I will scrutinize this purported comment as additional evidence of a man coopted by the globalist cabal.

   6. Rroe, several reasons.
      Very few genuinely care for Pootin and his orcish horde. They will pretend to but that is just for show.
      Some are team players. Since they are not on Team Biden they are on team Anti Biden, Pootin is on team anti-Biden hence he must be good. Had Biden sided with Pootin they would all be supporting Ukraine.
      Some (few) are Tankies.
      Some are disillusioned after the stolen election and thus reflexively reject everything the US government does.
      A lot of them are uniformed idiots, who hang onto snarky sound bytes and regurgitate them as if they were saying something insightful.
      Most are in one way or another victims of orc propaganda. And it is and easy and fertile ground given how many times MSM has lied to them.
      Almost none has any appreciation what the fight is about, who Ukrainians are and what orcs are.

9. The American politicos must think that Putin is an idiot. With the failure of the US/NATO (but I repeat myself) to keep the “Not one inch eastward” promise of the 1990s and Minsk accords both one and two why would Russia suddenly say “OK we will stop here because you said “pretty please”?” Russia knows from past experience that the US is not to be trusted and any pause in the war will simply be a breather for the US to rearm Ukraine.

10. There are three young (20’s) Uke evacuees across the street, arrived around January.
    They told the wife there are 300 per week arriving in Calgary.

    1. I met a young family from Ukraine a few weeks past. They said that there are 3 other Ukrainian families living in the townhouse complex they live in. I saw the young man on a job site talking Ukrainian to another man who it turned out had come to Edmonton a few months ago. I took the wife shopping and in one store we heard three women speaking Ukrainian to each other. I spoke to one Ukrainian who said that his family living outside of Kiev have no electricity or natural gas. They have a plot of land and they are eating a lot of potatoes as there is no food in the stores. Kiev is in the same condition.
