What Could Possibly Go Wrong?

Affirmative action comes of age.

A developing medical school trend to ditch the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) requirement may not bode well for the future of the profession, medical watchdog group Do No Harm told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Approximately 40 medical schools across the country have dropped the MCAT, a multiple choice exam that determines an individual’s ability to problem solve, think critically, and understand concepts about medical study, as a requirement for some applying students, according to a list compiled by Inspira Advantage. Do No Harm alleged that dropping the requirement is another way schools aim to bolster diversity on campus but asserted that it is a “dangerous trend,” according to its analysis.

    1. There is no peak stupid, not possible to ever run out of stupid ideas until there are literally no people left to conjure them up.

No-one is qualified to speak on a subject unless they are an expert on that subject. You can only be an expert on a subject if you have the right credentials on a subject. You will only be able to have the right credentials on a subject if you have the correct ideology. Hence, all merit and knowledge based testing must be destroyed, lest any competent individual remain to tell the emperor he is naked.

    2. The difference between genius and stupidity is that stupidity has no limits.

  1. After the behaviour of our Government Doctors throughout the Dread Covid Theatre, does anyone think those tests turned out to be worth a damn?

    Problem Solving?
Our Medical Licensing Boards,AKA The new Gestapo, are still punishing Doctors who used their brains and acted to first do no harm.
That the institutions would throw away another “safeguard” should be no surprise.
    Canadian Healthcare..pure comedy and farce.

  2. I will be avoiding anything that looks like an affirmative action (watered down hire) medical professional. I’d rather see a veterinarian.

The airlines are going the same way, good luck flying.

Dis be yo cappin’ talkin’ … we gone fly real soon, y’all … buckle up honkies, yo.”

A guys better off seeing a Witch Dr. Hmmm…seems thats all we have left anyway…am predisposed to not engage with anyone in our pharma owned medical industry….ever again.

Ya simply cannot hold any trust in our massively fkd up system.

      Do no harm..uhuh.

    2. Back in the day, after offspring achieved the coveted MVD (this was in Europe) the joke in our family was that Granny’s primary physician was a vet. There was a lot of truth in this as – when concerned about Mum’s health – would call the family vet over to check her out.
Later, when Mum had to be in a nursing home, it was the vet who on several occasions called out the staff for serious issues. We all visited frequently (Mum had at least one visitor daily), but it was the vet who would make medical assessments and require action. Which happened.

    1. Not at all. Putting everyone with a cough on a ventilator doesn’t require advanced diagnostic skills, just AI DocBot and an oxygen tank, followed by a DNR.

  3. I don’t know of even ONE white, male, Doctor in my entire Medical plan. My PCP is referred to as “Doctor ‘C’” … why? Because her Hindu name is utterly unpronounceable. So much for having Doctors who “look like me”.

      You’ll love this one.
Few months back my doctor retired, so they found me another.
I went to see him for my check up and the young doc was from India. Nice guy, but I couldn’t understand much of what he had to say. I asked him to take off his mask and he did but it still didn’t help. Few weeks later. I get a letter from the clinic saying he had moved on ( I wonder why) Now I’m Doc hunting again.

  4. So the lesson here: pick a white, male doctor as they made it though medical school despite being discriminated against. Under no circumstances pick a doctor that is a “person of color” or otherwise getting bonus points for being “diverse”.

    1. That’s really hard to do in canada, because most of them are old or close to retirement.

Any new ones leave the country as soon as they can

    2. I never got the need for affirmative action. My first degree was 50 years ago and the proportion of non-white profs vastly exceeded their portion of the population. My high school even had 3 out of about 20 non-white teachers. That was way above the population.

    3. I’d be confident with an Asian doctor too, they generally do the best academically.

      1. Agreed, Dirtman. When we first moved here some 50 years ago, didn’t have a family doctor but – when spouse needed one – a co-worker recommended a local Chinese-Canadian doctor. We have stayed with that clinic ever since, though there have been changes in personnel.

  5. It iz abut time that this discriminashun against the intellektually-challenged stop.

Why jus look how gud our former spokespeeple are running Canada and da United States!

  6. My wife has been in nursing for 36 years, most of it in the ER (USA)
The new nurses coming into the system have no idea on how to do a blood pressure test, unless it’s done by a machine.

    NUTS!

  7. I’m a retired engineer, but I identify as a doctor. Come see me. I’ll hoist you up on the crane and have a look under the hood.

I am skilled at banging around on this and that, disassembling and reassembling odd bits, and making things work by looking through the scrap pile for something that will fit close enough.

I identify as a doctor, I’ve got skilz, and I have a couple of degrees. Come see me. Don’t go to those other quacks.

  8. This is great news because it means a dumbass like me can now go to med school. I know as much about medicine as Patty Hadju.

  9. Hmmm…….how comfortable would you feel knowing that the guy who is going to remove the tumour from your kids brain……has only managed to reach the 7th grade reading level?

Ok..Ok….we will do it. But there must be a form that requests a medical professional who DID NOT REQUIRE dumbed down standards to pass any tests; and that if the operation goes badly, the people who let the medical professional perform the surgery is legally liable for damages.

that should end this nonsense in a hurry.

  10. In other words, if you are a member of a recognizable group (not a white straight male), the sages at the medical colleges believe that you are less capable of passing the MCAT.

  11. When doctors believe the bureaucracy it is time for them to move on to another job. Covid proved that far too many of them are very stupid.
