  1. (Realizes she doesn’t have anything even close to resembling a coherent or rational response).

You just did physically what you should do politically – step away.

  2. Many politicians embraced the defund movement without thought, just as they embrace every progressive fad that comes down the turnpike. It was the thing to do.

But the results of such mindless knee-jerk progressivism are dire.

    1. Cranky – if they defund the police ,who will arrest the outdoor hockey players ?

  3. Agree with all the comments.

However…I do find it annoying when ‘journos’ give a speech while asking the questions.

    1. Keean is still what, under thirty? He’ll get better, given time. He could have asked the question in a punchier, more laconic fashion. It was obviously prepared, he needs to take some more time wordsmithing.

    2. I don’t mind the speeches that’s what the politicians do when they answer a question.

  4. Is that Alberta’s Premier standing on the left in the red suit?

    What was the occasion here?

It looks to me like Gondek was embarrassed by the question. What happened next?

  5. Thoughts of Gondek: “How dare anyone ask tough questions. I thought Trudeau had bought off the few remaining holdouts to softball court eunuch journalism. I’ll show him, I’ll just walk away. I’m far too important to have to answer to some knuckle-dragging, white privileged male who doesn’t know his place! I’m safely ensconced in office, thanks to the progressive voting Eloi in this city.”

    1. Yup, her shite don’t stink.
Beneath the prog biotch to even utter a syllable and waste precious energy by lowering itself to answering the ‘ help ‘.

  6. I find it hard to understand that anyone thinks that a politician will help them.
Politicians are nothing more than snake oil salesmen with an unhealthy lust for power, less honest than a monarch or a real honest-to-goodness warlord.
The sad fact is, most people want someone to hold power over them, and in the west, it seems they prefer to have women and their little pusswillow slaves rule them.

  7. I worked as a Central Polling Supervisor during the 2021 municipal elections. The results tape from the tabulator from every race were not able to balance or be reconciled with the number of ballots that went into the Dominion machine (which we kept track of meticulously). It was shocking at the number of overvotes (considering it is programmed to spit the ballots back out when that happens to be fixed) on the results paper, undervotes and number of ballots that was way out to lunch and nothing added up properly. After phone calls up the food chain I was told fill out the paperwork and don’t worry, be quiet and we’ll debrief you about it.

    1. If you are a polling supervisor and you see funny business it is your job to stop it. If you are being told to just be quiet about issues…and you do it…you are contributing to the problem as much as people who intentionally break the rules. Speak out if there is a problem. Sign the forms at the end of the night with a disclaimer next to your signature noting the electronic voted did not balance with the paper votes. Make it clear that if the paper votes go missing, the electronic vote was suspect.

A few elections ago I was a deputy returning officer when we were instructed that we were not supposed to reject people who refused to show their face. I had a gentleman come vote who was angry about that specific issue and was being very vocal about it. I quietly told him that as the DRO, I had the absolute authority to reject a voter if I wasn’t satisfied they were who they said they were, by challenging the ID presented by the voter. Know your authority and be prepared to exercise it. You may never be asked to work another election, but you will have done your job. In my case, I can say that one voter knew that there was going to be no funny business going on at my polling station, and he went away much happier as a result of that.

      1. Thanks for the lecture, I’ve never stopped being quiet about it, nobody wants to hear it. Not Elections Alberta, not my UCP MLA, not the Calgary Sun. I got a thanks for your input from Rob Anderson’s Free Alberta. Now CofS to Danny

Dominion Tabulators after a decade of ‘testing’ are coming to our provincial election. Do you know who’s watch they were put under? Thank Alison Redford.

Alberta is sleep walking itself into a disaster. UCP is too stupid to care.

        1. Why would a legislative election even need voting machines? One office, one ballot. Manual count can be done (in my poll-clerking experience) in under half an hour, even with know-it-all scrutineers trying to push us one way or another. There are no good reasons for machines in a single-seat poll, but there is one very bad one.

        2. MM, I would venture to suggest that based on recent prior experiences, anytime Dominion machine tabulators are used, you can make book on the outcome! Correct me if I’m wrong, but as I recall, they were first developed in Canada by Dominion, for elections in Venezuela under Chavez, and Venezuela paid for a lot of the development! Hmmmmm!

I would also suggest this is now the status quo, and we are already on the losing downside, and unless we can get these electronic tabulators permanently axed, we are terminally screwed!

  8. Why Calgary? Why did you elect this creature? One would have thought you would have learned your lesson after the previous A–hole.
But nope. You’re now worse than Edmonton.
What happened to all the so called “conservatives” in that city?

    1. Indeed. Yet there are folks out there who would have us believe that a sufficient majority of Albertans would vote for separation in a heartbeat.

      1. Alberta has few (very few) actual separatists. It is as liberal as any province in Canada. Look at the succession of mayors in Redmonton and Calgary. Few conservatives remain and they are in the ranch, farm and to a lessor extent the oil patch. Kinda like SW Ontario.

    2. There were 27 candidates for Calgary mayor in last election. Only 4 women. Jyoti ticked both the female and visible minority boxes, plus she’s Sikh. Jeromy Farkas (my choice) is gay, but white and male. He came in second.

    3. Whatever kind of electronic voting machines they run helped elect that parasite.

      1. Bingo!
        Exatly that Xena
        Dominion machines rule over us
But who rules over the machines..?

    1. I thought it was fake at first, but nope, she was showing her true colours, as confirmed on Reddit Calgary (although the question was removed to keep “communities safe, civil, and true to their purpose…”). I don’t think you’ll see this clip on CBC, but if I have to send it to every voter I know in Calgary, I think that would be a good use of my time…

  9. I kinda admire her in a way. Most narcissist politicians would yammer on with a BS word salad response. Her silence, although arrogant, was refreshing.

  10. I lived in Regina SK when I was too young to move away, and was in the city 1. July 1976 when the City of Regina police officers went on strike for 19 hours. It may have been many teens dream, but the reality of what unfolded then was not a good sign.

I doubt the Mayor of Calgary has a clear vision of what an absence of police really looks like.

    1. Maybe if she suffered the absence of the the police protecting HER, she might!
      Will it ever happen? Doubtful.
People that never have to suffer living under their own policies will never get it, that’s why stupidity should be painful, it may be the only way they’ll ever learn anything; the hard way!

  11. The realkeean needs to grow up and ask an adult question if he want’s to be treated like an adult. I’m the last person to come to Gondeck’s defence but she obviously doesn’t suffer fools.

  12. In Calgary, convicted criminal out on bail for serious crime stabs 4 people yesterday downtown, two more stabbings this morning at a C-train station, stabbings in Surrey, lady stabbed and killed going to work, Calgary, stabbings, stabbings stabbings, what we need is a knife tax and registry, it would also create at least 10,000 Federal jobs in St Johns and lower the violence temperature across the world.

  13. The fantasy that is Liberal Nirvana trumps objective reality every time.
Eventually, voters get the government they voted for.

  14. The other thing I noticed was the embarrassed head drop from the chief as he realised she wouldn’t answer. I wonder if he plays poker. Smith also pursed her lip to silence her reaction.

She’s as sensitive as Nenshi, but nowhere close to the same level of ability.
