Claws Of The Panda

How Communist China Does Your Thinking for You

Chinese psychological warfare is sometimes so successful that its targets seem to have battered spouse syndrome—excusing away PRC actions that are in fact harmful, and even blaming themselves for having caused it. Former assistant secretary of defense Professor Joseph Nye typified that approach in his 2013 New York Times article “Work With China, Don’t Contain It”: “When I worked on the Pentagon’s East Asia strategy in 1994, during the Clinton administration, we rejected the idea of containment for two reasons. If we treated China as an enemy, we were guaranteeing a future enemy. If we treated China as a friend, we kept open the possibility of a more peaceful future.”

Internalize this idea, and it’s easy to convince yourself that if China is acting like an enemy, it must be something America is doing wrong. This approach is still common currency among the so-called China Hands—that tight-knit and self-protecting coterie of China whisperers who try to ensure they are the only ones deemed worthy to explain China.

  1. Well , it was explained to me in some early 1980’s SciFi movie that the world would belong to the Chinaman in the future.
Was it Johnny Mnemonic or Blade Runner , Det. Deckard would know.

  2. My current and highly recommended kindle read is:

War Without Rules (China’s Playbook for World Domination) by General Robert Spalding (Ret. US Airforce).

Amazon blurb excerpt: Av rating 4.5 stars

“In War Without Rules, retired Air Force Brigadier General Rob Spalding takes Americans inside Unrestricted Warfare. He walks readers through the principles of this book, revealing the Chinese belief that there is no sector of life outside the realm of war. He shows how the CCP itself has promised to use corporate espionage, global pandemics, and trade violations to achieve dominance. Most importantly, he provides insight into how, once Americans are aware of the tactics, we can fight back against CCP’s creeping influence.
More than a vital read for those interested in China, War Without Rules is essential reading for anyone—from policymakers and diplomats to businessmen and investors—finally waking up to the stealth war. Knowledge is power, and it’s time to arm yourself.”

About 20 years ago I was doing laundry during a one night motorcycle ride stop-over in a small US town. Sitting there reading and enjoying my solitude, I was disturbed by an obviously deranged street gent ranting boistrously about the soon-to-be rampaging Chinese military.

    1. It has been obvious for much longer. A country run by people who grew up and flourished under the rule of one of the handful of history’s greatest mass murderers would do what China does. Decades ago even deranged street people figured out what China was up to.

  4. Who is calling the shots?.. Seeing as western nations followed Chinas lead with Covid response.. Its clear we are not fighting a cold war with them.. Its more like a warm fold..

China is just another vital interest that needs protecting.. A choke point that must remain open for business.. A protected investment portfolio complete with our fluff girl politicians..

Fun stuff.. Our environmental / identity politics dictatorship courting their military dictatorship.. We get to meet in the middle and count the trillions that may or may not exist depending on the weather.. In short, sold out..

Pandering to a thin skinned dictatorship $$$ was never going to end well.. Sucked in and sold out..

Problem is, the CCP needs our lands as well as those of the African Continent for their resources.
What they DON’T want , is the people, other than used as an expendable resource to fertilize the lands.
Plowed in and under , literally.

        1. For now but not in the future if our leaders have plans to go to war with them on all fronts, economic as well as kinetic.
Seems they are itching for it cause China is helping out Putin.

          1. Our leaders are not itching for war with China. At least they shouldn’t be. It’s up to China if there’s war with China. If China is remotely smart, they won’t and will just work to cultural-economic dominance. Then again if they were smart they would open the capital account and not have done COVID Zero.

  5. The actual war is between the citizens and their own governments in the west and whoever is the string pullers behind them. This will include the wef and other globalist foundations. They were allied with the ccp but since the ccp has refused to join in on self defeating sanctions on Russia, there is a rift in the alliance.

      1. Feel free to embargo China with your own wallet and time. I am not interested in repeating naked foreign-policy failure at scale.

        1. Well then, put your pants on, and maybe step off those scales while you’re at it.. And I’d embargo China with my own bar!

    1. I always wondered what the world would’ve been like if General McArthur had nuked China during the Korean War.

    2. Wasn’t it Napoleon who told us to let China sleep, for when She wakes the Earth will shake?
