  1. The desperation to invest into new technology, no matter how terrible it is by our colluding governments losing trillions of dollars on the excuse of going green.
The banking system has raised its interest rates to crush this silliness of a multitude in bad governments policies in this globalization supplement system.
Home manufacturing is made illegal so that our reliance on imports makes us bonded to its mistakes.
Playing the system is how Musk and Tesla manufacturing survived and thrived even though a multitude of lawsuits in the not to distant future will crash the company. Having a fantastic payout on stock manipulation gave Musk his massive wealth.
China has really played this long game well…

    1. Or perhaps Musk was given an offer he couldn’t refuse.
Told by .gov , that one way or another ICE machines are going the way of the Dodo, you can get in on the action now and we will make you the top dog, or get left in the dust by someone else we will hook up.
Same offers made to Bozos, Suckerberg, Dorsey and Googles leadership.
Probably sweetened the offer with Spacex, giving him the tech, funds and expertise to make it happen.

Ask yourself why Musk ain’t worried and telling his workers also to ignore the stock problems.
It’s in the bag for Musk.

  2. Gonna be some great YouTube videos.

Regular garbage truck fires are impressive.
    Electric one should be spectacular.

  3. Why would NYC need snow plows? There’s not supposed to be any snow. Fifty years of The Science says so.

If in the rare event it does snow, New Yorkers can use shovels to clear the snow

      1. NYC was supposed to be under water , at least Manhattan by now, Gore told me.
If you remember that propaganda movie made by Spielberg called AI, New York was under water in the future and far into the future a frozen iceberg.

    1. It’s been going on for years, Rusty. One of the few things NYC got right.

The garbage trucks can’t make their rounds if the streets aren’t plowed. The city also is perpetually short of money, having spent it on buying votes, so they didn’t want to buy a bunch of snowplows that would sit around for 350+/- days of the year.

After one of the blizzards of the ’70s, if I remember right, they got the bright idea to put snowplows on the garbage trucks to help plow the streets. At that time, they had snowplows, but only a paltry number totally inadequate for the job. People were screaming for solutions.

Oh, there was a fuss by the unions about training, work rules, and whatnot, but eventually they got that worked out. It used to be the headlines were typically “NYC Paralyzed By Snow.” Now, you hardly see that unless there’s a really big storm that pretty much no city could deal with using only snowplows.

That’s why NY uses garbage trucks as snowplows.

    2. Because garbage trucks can easily be modified for snow plow duty, and they have a good capacity, rather than buying equipment that you only need for a little bit of the year?

Of course, you also have to buy front end loaders because you need to clear snow from the roads anyway.

  4. They can just run the diesels for a couple years until winter doesn’t happen anymore and then buy the electrics. Isn’t that how this works?

  5. There are never any consequences for the stupidity of decisions made with tax payers money
A government flunky screws up….he shrugs….and then moves on to his next blunder, it must be in his job description. Remember , it’s all pensionable time (APT).

      1. Our revenue no longer meets our expenditure requirements so … reluctantly … after considering all options … we will be raising taxes.

    1. There are a lot of stupid people in this world. Sadly, most of them work for various governments – municipal, state/provincial and at the federal levels.

    2. After retirement they then move to a red state because their old Democrat state is a all orifice bleed tax/multi cult hell.

  6. A fundamental problem with the green lobby is that they are so eager to abandon proven technologies that they unquestionably believe promises made by salespeople.
During my career at Transport Canada I was peripherally involved in contracts with outside contractors. The contracts almost always contained performance clauses – by this date X must be accomplished, the equipment must arrive on time and perform to standard Y or the contractor forfeits a performance bond. The faux green industry is not being held accountable when its products are found to be useless.

    1. The irony of outside contractors being held to performance clauses while gov’ts of all colours continue to FUBAR our tax $$$ away (as kidshilleen notes above) is not lost on sentient beings.

  7. I have never understood how it came to be that municipal governments are allowed to make these kind of decisions with the tax payers money

Scam and Boondoggle on Mayor’s EGO PROJECTS. Striving for fame and glamor and tax payers allow it.

SkyDome in Toronto cost 600M. The mayor and council said they just had to build this for millionaire baseball players.
Forced out lots of private property owners and build the shithole.
It recently sold for 50 M back to private hands.
How much money did the scum bag politicians scam.

Another big favorite hog trough is Olympics Games. Olympic Raping of the Taxpayer is more like it.
Or the Transit scam. Must Have Must Have, if it was so demanded ten private enterprise should build it and make a buck. Because everyone of these scams lose money. None of them break even.
Look at the Ottawa fiasco, why do you think Mayor Big Jim Weenus left town under a Sulphureous Cloud. Of BS.
I think Big Jim was getting his ass greased by SNC LAVALIN.
One after the other crooks and thieves

    1. Skydome as I recall was sold to Rogers Cable for a paltry $25 million, I could be wrong , it may have been 50 mil.
But it has given new life to the Dome and it brings in more than the 25 mil a year in taxes that .gov desperately needs.
So maybe it was a good deal to sell, better than .gov running it, what a shiteshow that would’ve been.

  8. Politicians must feel that they are smarter and more educated than engineers, scientists or doctors. They don’t ever seem to listen, do they?
