Jobless numbers get worse in Canada, 68,000 jobs lost and unemployment rate goes up. Shrinking labor participation rate. Not good numbers for Canada’s economy. Elbows at half-mast.

Yes, the good news is public sector job losses – there are still too many. However, it is my humble opinion based on being a history/geography nerd, that there will be many more job losses. Canada has not had a real recession since 2008/2009. Previously, recessions occurred every 7-10 years. I myself, have lived through 5 recessions (was not affected at all by 2008). While recessions are NOT nice (especially when you lose work), they are necessary to clean out all the deadwood in the capitalist economy. Along with the job losses, the culling of the housing markets in Ontario and British Columbia are very necessary. Based on my real estate adventures, I do not think things will improve until this time 2027. I could be wrong…

Breaking news from Stat Can’s Labour Force Survey for September. Canada lost 68,000 net jobs and the unemployment rate increased to 6.5%. This follows a 42,000 net job loss in the August survey. Our recession is now here, big time. Elbows Up everybody.
That is net, across the country. Alberta gained something like 78000 jobs.
