  3. You cannot reason someone out of a point of view they didn’t reason themselves into. I prefer not to confront them, doing so is embarking on a fool’s errand. If they confront me then I will take the time to explain to them why I disagree. Otherwise I don’t care what they believe, it doesn’t affect me.

      I prefer the alternative, going back to the way things were in the 70’s, which is turning out to be the most liberating and freest decade ever.
      Every small town had an RV Park. There were rural gas/restaurant stations everywhere to cater to these vacationers. Government and NGO’s kept their noses out of raising your children. Everyone had work if they wanted it. Immigration was low. Far less drug addicts on the streets. The movies were better. The racists were already identified and shunned. I could go on, but you get the picture. There absolutely was more personal freedom and with that, accountability for your actions. Than the 80’s began and the slow change to where we may be free, but not so much to set our own limits as to have them set for us. I call this era the “rise of the lawyers”.

      1. Do not forget that Trudeau Version 1.0 was in power in the 1970’s and he was slowly changing the face of Canada. Canada started to go downhill with the Pierre Trudeau’s Liberals. There was a brief respite under the Conservative Brian Mulroney, but at the end of the day, he was from Quebec and did things to benefit Quebec, rather than the rest of Canada. Just my humble opinion.

      2. We’ve done pretty much what Blackie has stated but I don’t feel like were in a subsistence mode. But we felt motivated 15 yrs ago to do this. Now we have a rural home, acreage, with all the in town amenities; phone, tv, internet. Big garden, farmers as neighbours – deals to be made in going in on purchases of meat by paying for the animal in it’s raising. Gravel road, low taxes, never get door knockers and such, it’s so peaceful and beautiful out in the country. Septic system, and great well. I use to love city living too, now I love this more. Have enough land to do hobby farming should the need arise.
        Trying to remain ungovernable by the corrupted ones governing us.

      If there is any consolation or hope it is the handful of doctors that have publicly announced their change of mind. Dr Campbell and Dr Mulhatra are two that come to mind.
      The other problem especially is Canada is passivity. There are too many that have absolutely no idea how evil their government is.

And yes, as long as people firmly believe that other people are incapable of lying or being wrong, you cannot convince them otherwise. It also requires a measure of caring because people are stubborn sheep that have gone astray, they don’t necessarily think unless they have to, and sometimes not even then. Getting them to question their beliefs is difficult and necessary. There is always more to learn.

In every other case, including an armed robbery, we knew the investigation ended the second the cop walked out the door. Yet get a $20 drive away from a gas pump and 20 cops from six different detachments were up for a high speed chase. RCMP are lazy and useless and for the most part stupid.

        1. Alberta and Saskatchewan could set up provincial police forces that have zero affirmative action or other stupid policies. That would be an improvement over the RCMP.

    I opined earlier in this scam pandemic that the powers that be wanted a return to the biblical definition of lifespan. The plan was to eliminate the “useless eaters” after they had served their purpose of working most of their lives and weed them out before they became a drain on society due to longer life expectancy where they would consume more product without further contribution. It would seem that perhaps their little plan has gone askew somewhat as Ed Dowd points out more people are dying in the midst of their more productive years than anyone had imagined.

    Just a thought worth considering.

    1. I am reading Dowd’s book, Cause Unknown. He is excellent. Very persuasive about the reality of there being a serious issue with the vaccines signalled by the excess deaths. But no, no consolation re what vaxed might be facing. I have several relatives and many friends who are moving right along with the boosters,

    3. This made me think of a conversation I had around 5 years ago with a colleague who was nearing retirement.

      He said he was fully expecting the government to make good on his working lifetime of contributions so that he could comfortably retire. A not unreasonable expectation – that was part of the bargain made when CPP and OAS were introduced.

      But of course, it never worked out that way. I said to my colleague these plans haven’t been self sustaining due to a number of factors. I told him the plans anticipated its benefactors would only be drawing on funds for 6-8 years, not 20 years. And they required ever increasing hikes on contributions to make up for demographics and cost of living. Couple that with the fact that over 80% of provincial health care budgets are used treating people, predominantly of retirement age, in the last 2 years of their lives. Future generations and the country as whole were at risk if nothing was done.

      I jokingly said to my colleague that a cold blooded cynic wouldn’t be surprised if the government, to save itself, started lethal injections to people when they reached an arbitrary age, regardless their state of health. And to cover up the obvious human, social cost, they’d present it as something altruistic like saving the earth for future generations.

      Like I said, this was a conversation I had pre 2020. And to my horror, here we are.
