Jean Marc Benoit MD- Canadian Emergency Departments in crisis?
The crisis in Canadian hospitals in 2021/22 does not appear to be driven by more severe illness (except in 20-44 year olds), or by the the number of ER visits, or by the number of admitted patients.
So what is the problem?
It seems highly likely that something knocked Canada’s hospitals’ efficiency off kilter in 2021/22.
Jean Marc Benoit MD- Pediatric virus crisis, Canada, fall 2022?
Ideally, a full look at the pediatric virus crisis in Canada this fall would incorporate ER visits, hospital admissions, and ICU admissions. For some reason, this data is not available in real time – although presumably Ministries of Health have access – so it is rather challenging to contextualize somewhat alarming reports by CBC, CTV et al about the “tripledemic” (RSV, influenza, covid19).
Brian Lilley- Canada takes dark turn in rush to expand medical assistance in dying
JP Sears- Satire, but just barely.

What happens if I have my bank account frozen for supporting a protest against the government’s MAiD program and that drives me into poverty and makes it impossible for me to feed or house myself?
Will the government offer me MAiD to alleviate my suffering?
Or will they demand it?
And what about criminals?
Will they be offered MAiD as an alternative to spending a few years in the slammer?
Maybe they will put me in the slammer for protesting the extent of the MAiD program.
Well my doctor friend who ‘retired’ rather than being jabbed and my cousin’s (a nurse) firing because she wouldn’t be jabbed may have something to do with it?
“For some reason, this data is not available in real time”
I give up.
That was not satire. That was profiled reality. I didn’t laugh because I have a few friends who have already been offered the “treatment”.
As I have said many times before, stay away from doctors. They are just another pool of students who went through a different program and now believe themselves gods. As a parent of of a doctor, and having several more in the family, let me reveal how little they know.
-subject of diet? Generic one semester course that does not address blood types, races, or even age to any degree
-subject of exercise? Generic one semester course that does not address blood types, races, or even age to any degree
-subject of homeopathy which is the basis of all modern medicinal drugs? maybe one lecture
-subject of environmental effects? Almost nothing
-physical therapy? one semester course
-surgery? Rudimentary less than one year unless specializing.
subject of pharmacy and drugs? Near 50% of all studies.
Don’t get me wrong, there are some amazingly smart doctors out there, with many degrees, accolades, and triumphs. But the average shmoe Doctor is no more prepared to diagnose remotely well, without consulting a battery of specialists and tests, than your grandma who has seen more and knows your family.
The medical profession is just like any other, some know what they are doing, but many are quacks. The whole covid debacle just exposed many of the latter.
Conformity uber alles. Try finding a physician who understands the downside of statins. Most of them today treat patients as if they were reading from a menu… and don’t know what restaurant they’re in. “Try the curry, I hear it’s really nice here.”
If we really wanted to make progress in medical practice, automating testing procedures and analysis based on big data and AI could make a big difference. I’d say a doctor’s diagnosis could be more easily replaced than a robotic bricklayer could replace a human one. And I’ve already seen a robot laying bricks. The problem with the human bricklayer, he’s got no influence within his industry. Doctors, in contrast, are a self-regulating profession, which in common parlance means it’s a racket for elites. And just think of the BILLIONS up in smoke for nothing with the government money poured into phoney vaccines from Big Pharma. The wasted opportunities have been absolutely criminal.
Automated medicine. The PCR tests should scare the s*** out of anyone thinking that. Garbage in, garbage out.
Yes, absolutely that’s what we need. Robots with a limited vocabulary programmed by stoned gamers dispensing medical treatments as if they were renting us a video.
Ask your doctor if she is using BMI as part of the diagnosing you, then ask how many semesters of statistics she took in order to understand the value of a system designed for classifying soldiers quickly between 1830 and 1850.
“-subject of homeopathy which is the basis of all modern medicinal drugs? maybe one lecture”
^^^total BS.
Once again calling bullshit. The situation in ER in my town has been dire since long before 2020. Wait times for say, a possible broken leg was over three hours in 2018. Every time I have been there the wait has been hours.
Saying there is a crisis in ERs is like saying there is a crisis now surgical wait times. No duh! Where have you folks been in the last 10 or 20 years?
If you search back, I bet ti would go all the way back to the start of socialist medicine
John, people in all parts of the country have been using ERs for basic medical treatment for years as G Ps have been in short supply. 8 to 10 hour waits is S O P.
Two of our kids are nurses. One is unemployable because she refused to get the jab. The other got jabbed but is now worn out from working OT to cover for the fired unjabbed nurses like her sister, the ones who took early retirement, and those on sick leave because of all the Wuhan flu bullshit.
And remember: all federal politicians and 99 percent of provincial ones supported all the lockdowns and mandatory vaccine bullshit.
They all own this…hence the silence.
Nobody is mentioning the killer e-bike batteries!
Won’t somebody think of the children!
Nuthin’ but a bunch of Eloi arguin’ about what we should be scared of.
Canada should replace our flag with yellow stripes and a buttercup.
HSAA will tell you the emergency room situation is all Danielle Smith’s fault and only Wretched Knothead can fix it. Just forget that Wretched and her Dipper Horde made it worse when she had the controls.
Mike
Rachel Notley and Gil McGowan have the answers:
– more government bureaucrats.
– a move to traditional First National medicine
– free hard drugs
– and don’t forget a massive expansion of MAID
NDP politicians and labour leaders will get to jump May queues.
Burning sage up in smoke and tossing crumbs of tobacco in four directions IS highly effective. Did you know that?
ps. AOC has an advanced degree in economics and is therefore qualified to decide upon such things for us. That is, if the Green New Deal, principle symbol of her advanced intelligence doesn’t get you first.
All Red Rachel did was give her union buddies big raises and borrowed tens of billions to pay them. The waiting times went up.
One of the biggest reasons Kenney is no longer premier is because he did not clean out the mess that wretched Rachel created in AHS.
When you have a monopoly single payer system (captured by bureaucrats, unions and politicians), there is no hope of reform. A parallel private system could at least shame them into improvement. We have 10 times the number of administrators that Germany has and whose system is at or near the top of the systems measured while we are dead last on many criteria. Unfortunately our parallel private system exists almost everywhere outside the Canadian health care gulag which ends at our borders.
A parallel private system could at least shame them into improvement.
which is exactly why a private system is prohibited
Our healthcare was a crying broke house of cards before covid crashed the system.. The pandemic put them and their empty pockets front and center.. Where do you go from there?.. The funding method of operation is now set in panic mode.. It always was but not with the threat of lockdowns and mandates hanging in the air..
Not with a willing media whispering in the ears of politicians, do something.. When all it really is, is a funding drive.. We got socialist institutions that may not have our best interests in mind.. Blood from a stone and if zero covid keep them in the money.. So be it..
Why are people running to the hospital with the flu when over the counter cold and flu medication will get you over the hump?.. That and a couple of days rest..
“healthcare was a crying broke house of cards before covid crashed the system.”
Exactly. And in this province the 30 year decline was presided over by Conservatives, Liberals, and NDP; they all formed governments during that period and each party was completely useless in opposition as far as fixing things was concerned.
It was negligence of the most criminal kind.
My girlfriend has been an RN since ’96. She no longer works at the hospital because they demanded she got a third shot. Before the jab she never got sick and since the shots she gets sick often and feels constantly fatigued so she refused. Many other nurses quit for the same reason.
We now live in bizarro world. You have to prove you’re not sick in order to see the doctor. Our society was locked down to protect the health care system, which exists to protect us.
Im feeling sick.. I have the flu.. Rather than self medicating with a blanket in front of my TV.. I’m going to emergency 🙂 So I can save 17 dollars and fifty cents on cold medicine.. Get some free food and drink.. Getting better isn’t actually my problem.. Its yours..
Gee I wonder why they are broke?.. But then again broke is the only way your going to get a raise.. Coming in under budget.. Not eating up every last dime will get you nothing.. Packing the place with people who don’t need to be in the hospital just makes the hospital look like its doing a good job..
Socialism is awesome :)..

Get woke, get dead.
Surely killing predominantly black and brown people via overdose is racist? Oregonians can’t see the forest for the trees.

It is the “Best System Evah”..
For middle management types, people processors ect.
For treating the sick?
That was failure by design.
I do ER and family medicine. The thing driving the crisis in the ER is the lack of family physicians. Probably 60 % of the stuff I see in the ER could be easily handles in a GP office.
