Canadian intelligence officials have warned Prime Minister Justin Trudeau that China has allegedly been targeting Canada with a vast campaign of foreign interference, which includes funding a clandestine network of at least 11 federal candidates running in the 2019 election, according to Global News sources.

Delivered to the prime minister and several cabinet members in a series of briefings and memos first presented in January, the allegations included other detailed examples of Beijing’s efforts to further its influence and, in turn, subvert Canada’s democratic process, sources said.

Based on recent information from the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), those efforts allegedly involve payments through intermediaries to candidates affiliated with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), placing agents into the offices of MPs in order to influence policy, seeking to co-opt and corrupt former Canadian officials to gain leverage in Ottawa, and mounting aggressive campaigns to punish Canadian politicians whom the People’s Republic of China (PRC) views as threats to its interests. The briefings did not identify the 2019 candidates. But the alleged election interference network included members from both the Liberal and Conservative parties, according to sources with knowledge of the briefs.

    1. Not really. It’s why CSIS felt that they also had to implicate that conservative candidates were also involved… so that it would get a listen. Do you think Goebel’s news would have published this report if ONLY the liberals were involved?

      I have a feeling that this report has not caught the turd by surprise… Question is… What’s PP gonna do about this? What can he do? His party has been implicated as well.

      Nah. I have an old friend who was RCMP and then CSIS.
      He spoke of political intervention in their work.
      They’re mostly liberals. They don’t care. Pay cheque, very early retirement, extremely generous pensions and benefits.
      My advice is to laugh out loud when CSIS spox talk about being “concerned”.
      They know the deal. They issue their reports and warnings, they know that nothing will get fixed.

  5. The election of 2019 is a long time ago. As far as ‘intelligence officials’ go, if this was a real thing, there would have been a ‘Stauffenberg’ plot. While the flight of the PM to a ‘secure place’ might indicate fear of rogue municipal bylaw enforcment staff (as part of a ‘Stauffenberg plot’), it can be rationalized away. Unless someone is lying. Hmmm

  9. The funds were allegedly transferred through an Ontario provincial MPP and a federal election candidate staffer. Separate sources aware of the situation said a CCP proxy group, acting as an intermediary, transferred around $250,000.

    To give the folks at home a better understanding of how much that is… that’s roughly 18,000 Disneys.

  15. Strategically, The Chinese have targeted both Canada and Australia as “low hanging fruit” for colonization and eventual incorporation into the Chinese controlled world. Why wouldn’t they? Both countries have serious unity issues, both lack a strong identity, typical of a homogenous society (which Canada certainly isn’t). Both are massively valuable in terms of resource wealth of all kinds, and the USA is asleep at the wheel.
    The only sensible course for Canada is to be incorporated into the USA, ASAP. The alternative is to be incorporated into China. That is your choice folks.

Loads of Liberal candidates received brown paper bags filled with illegal cash during the AdScam Affair, but you will recall that the Gomery Inquiry into that sordid lough of corruption was expressly barred from asking exactly which Liberal candidates had received the illegal donations. Now we hear that China has been giving similarly illegal donations to parliamentary candidates running against anyone who wants to hold China to account, which, according to the morning fishwrap, cost at least 3 Conservative candidates their seats. And natch, once again, the names of those on the receiving end of this illegal practice must remain secret, the better to retain Zoolander and his merry band of incompetents in power. Just another illustration (as if we needed one) that Trudeau is the worst PM ever.
